Is there a way to see when the internet connection is active?

I would like to know when my iMac is communicating on the internet connection and have a way to observe that. It's not clear by looking at my DSL modem lights. Does anyone know of a program I can use that will show that clearly? It would be nice to get a freeware or shareware if one is out there...

Your mac already has built in utilities for that.
1. Hold down the 'option' key while you click on the wifi icon in the menubar and you'll see the last item in the menulist is 'Open Wifi Diagnostics'.
Click on it. When the app opens, ignore the dialogue and 'Continue' button and instead on your keyboard hit 'Command-N'.
You'll now get a diagnostic panel with various tabs that will give you detailed info about wifi connections.
2. Open Spotlight and type 'Network Utility'. Hit 'return' to open the app. Examine the various tabs for detailed infomation about net stats.
3. Also don't forget that in System Preferences > Network will give you a lot of information. Click the padlock and enter an admin password, then play around with the 'Advanced' and the 'Assist Me...Diagnostics' buttons. The latter is particularly useful to see exactly where your connection is failing (computer, router, ISP).

Multiple desktops and dual screens really aren't meant to work together. Apple came up with this multiple desltops feature and never really thought about users that use a dual monitor setup. So use either multiple desktops OR dual monitors but not both. Also don't try to use any App in Full Screen Mode as that doesn't work with dual screen setups either.

I solved my problem,
Definitely a bug in syncing through itunes.
- Connect Iphone with MacBook Pro through USB
- Go to iphone on itunes, photos, deselect photo synchronization.
- Sync (all pics will be removed from iphone)
- Close itunes, iphoto, disconnect iphone
- Select in finder: (home)-pictures-iphoto library.
- Sec click on iphoto library and choose "show package contents"
- Delete iPod Photo Cache
- Close finder
- Empty trash
- Reconnect iphone
- Allow photo synchronization again and everything works smooth.
After this, changes made in iphoto are instantaneously reflected in iphone photos.
Once every hundred photos, one gets detached from iphoto and then changes are no longer reflected (buggy) :-(
In this case I erase the photo in iphoto, sync, go back to iphoto trash, reestablish the photo from the trash and sync again.
Hope this improves. Still have to try cloud though.

Is there any way to see all the contents of my library in one view?

I love itunes version 7, but one thing I miss: in the old itunes you could pick the "library" view and see everything you had in one view: music, podcasts, etc. This was useful because I liked to see the "date added" feature to get rid of the old podcasts in order of the oldest first - to make space on my harddrive. But now there is no single "libary" view, but rather they are separated by category: podcasts, etc. Under the podcasts they are separated by show, so I have to go through each show individually to get rid of the old ones.
Is there any way I can simply list everything at once? Or is there a way so that when I add new podcasts it will get rid of the old ones automatically?

The best workaround I'm aware of comes courtesy of BMan1854: Create a Smart Playlist that will Match the following rule: Date Added is after 01/01/2001 (or whatever the day before the day that you first started your iTunes Library is). That playlist will show your entire library.
Or is there a way so that when I add new podcasts it will get rid of the old ones automatically?
Have you gone to the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Podcasts tab and checked out the various options listed in the Keep drop-down menu.

I have been making a route for my next mountaineering trip using the red pins on the map app! i have like 20 bookmarks. I could see all the bookmarks at once and it was so nice. but after I searched another place all the bookmarks dissapeared. now i can see only one of the bookmarks at a time! is there any way to see all of them together again ?! please someone help I put so much affort to find the correct route...

Is there a way to see all the games available?

I just downloaded itunes in preparation for the ipod touch I plan to buy.
When I go to the App Store and click on Games, it breaks down into categories like New, What's Hot, Board Games, etc. But when I click on one of these categories, it only shows me between 15-30 games. I'm sure there are more than a couple of hundred games available in the app store, so is there any way to see them all?

Go to the main iTunes store screen.
At the top right under *Quick Links*, click Browse.
Select Apps then Games then All (or another sub-category).
Note that Action sub-category has 6000 apps and Adventure has 3631 apps (and so on).

Warp Stabilising is a two part process.
Analysis and Stabilising.
Both have a banner across the Program Monitor during the process ( unless you have turned that off.
Analysis start automatically on forst application...but you can rock in there and start adjusting the parameters.
You may need to hit "Analyse" Button again.
You should see the number of frames and the estimated duration during this process.

Is there a way to check my iphone 4S to see if it was actually unlocked by AT&T? They could not tell that it was. They just said it was approved 24 hours ago and to wait until today to restore it. I did this thru iCloud not iTunes if that matters.

Yeah, which is helpful if they have id'd their SSID's labeled to id it somehow, but I'd like to be able to see what kind of connection I am getting. I'm doing a job where it would be nice to be able to see this info.

Why does firefox crash when the internet connection is lost?

We have been having trouble with our internet connection recently and firefox crashes whenever the connection is lost, but this didn't used to happen, so I was wondering why this was happening.

If there is any intermittent issues or connection is lost you will revert to the menu, regardless. The 'apps' are fed via server and there is nothing stored on the unit, it simply caches when you are online.
As for the initial wait time. That could be due to ISP throttling, interference, using another DNS

Is there a way to tell when the trash bin in iPhoto was emptied?

I am a teacher. I lost some very important photos and was under the impression that one of my students deleted them because she was mad at me. I was confused about how she did this because the main trash bin was still completely full. I didn't think until I got home about the trash bin in iPhoto. After a couple of tests, I think this is probably how she deleted the (since-recovered) photos.
My question is, am I able to tell when photos were deleted from iPhoto?

It shows 3 devices but i have noidea which is which. I have prem. services is that the same as the family plan? I want to be able to have it on my phone, wifes and childs along with a computer. How do i do that and also have them login without using facebook?

So you'll need a separate account for each user as the terms and conditions only allow a Spotify account to be used for one individual. If your daughter and wife don't have a Spotify account of their own, create one one for them using their own e-mail addresses here. When their accounts are created they can then link their Facebook accounts to their Spotify account in their account overview. Once all those accounts are made and set-up, login with account that you want to manage the family plan and head over to the Family Plan page. Since you only need just you and and two other family members select "Me + 2 family members" which will be a total of $19.99/month (pricing varies between countries/currencies). Once the payment is processed you'll be able to add the accounts by inviting them to your plan which will send them an e-mail once selected. You then have to go into those e-mails and click those links to get attached. After that, you are all set!
