  • Is there a way to send and receive SMS on multiple cellular devices without using iMessage?

I currently own a cellular iPad mini and an iPhone 4s and would like SMS to be the same on both devices as well as my desktop.
After many months of struggling with iMessage, I decided to turn it off entirely.  I discovered that my best friend did not receive dozens of my texts over the span of a few months (I compared our message history side by side).  Seems like it had something to do with traveling in and out of wifi zones or possibly conflicts between our two carriers, ATT and Verizon.  Regardless, I am not willing to dive into iMessage fully until this gets sorted out.  Further, SMS is the standard message format for everyone outside of the Apple sphere, and I do not feel comfortable lumping them together into one app.  If I decide to switch to Android, will all of my contacts with iPhones continue sending me iMessages?
    Thank you for your help!

Is there a way to send and receive SMS on multiple cellular devices without using iMessage?
Search the iTunes App Store for any 3rd party SMS apps that may be available.
If I decide to switch to Android, will all of my contacts with iPhones continue sending me iMessages?
Android phones don't receive iMessages, they can recieve SMS messages sent through the iOS Messages app. The app that your contacts choose to use to send you messages is completely up to them.

Hi there. My iPod Nano was stolen from my car today. I do know the serial number of this stolen device. Is there any way that Apple can block another user from connecting this stolen device to iTunes? Also, if another user was to attempt to connect this stolen device to iTunes, would Apple be able to inform of the username of this person in order that I could then pass this information to the police?

  • Is there a way to send email to different people at one time without having to reopen address list each time I pick one

Is there a way to keep email address  list open when sending to multiple people. List closes after choosing one person, then have to open to send to next person, etc. etc.

There is a way to create a mailing list.
In the notes app create a list of email addresses separated by commas, i.e. [email protected],[email protected],[email protected]
    Copy the address list
Create an entry in contacts for the list
In the email field paste the address list
When you send an email using the email list, you may get a message saying the email address appears to be invalid, select to send anyway.

  • Is there a way to get pictures from another backup?

I want to restore my iPod from a backup but at the same time I don't. I know in order to restore from backup you have to erase all content and settings. However, I have a lot of pictures on my ipod that I don't want to be erased; I have those pictures backed up I just want to know if there is a way to get the pictures from my earliest backup onto my ipod without going through all of that.

Restoring a backup is all or nothing, and if it's an iCloud backup, it requires you to erase the device in order to restore it.  What you can do is back up your device to your computer using iTunes (connect it to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of it in iTunes, then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases and File>Devices>Back Up).  Then you can restore the backup you want (see iCloud: Restore your iOS device from iCloud), then import the recovered photos to your computer (see iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer), then restore the iTunes backup you made earlier (File>Devices>Restore from Backup).  If you want the photos back on your device, put them in a folder and sync them to your device by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

  • Is there a way to reagrrange my apps? or set up folders to put them into by subject?

Is there a way to rearrange my Apps or set up folders to put them into by subject?

An app or even part of the iOS, this would be a great function to have.
My 5 year old loves playing games like Disney's Water? on the iPad. The only problem is, is that as it only allows 1 player and he ends up playing over my game and it drives me insane
If there was a way to either hide it OR even have 2 copies installed would be perfect!
Maybe the easy answer though is to just go and buy him his own iPad

  • Is there any way to log in to active directory from a mac without joining the AD domain?

I am looking for a way to log in to active directory without having the Mac join the AD domain. Basically i have not been able to understand all the ramifications of joining the AD domain. From what I have read in various documentations on the apple site and some of the AD plug in sites, it seems that if the mac joins the domain, all kinds of group policies get 'transfered' to the mac experience. How exactly does that affect the privileges of the local mac user on their machine? do they need to change their mac password? what happens to their existing home directories? what happens when they have their laptops at home?
    TIA

The reason i am hesitant about binding the macs is that i'm not sure what are all the effects of that. will they have to change their mac passwords / usernames? more than likely the auto login will have to go. If there are multiple accounts on the mac (ex one admin account and other regular and admin accounts) how does binding affect them? how will it work when the mac is not in the office? if they have admin rights on the mac but not on the windows AD, how will that affect them? Do you know of a source i could go to to find answers for questions like these?
Unfortunately, the source for answers should be your IT department. I can tell you how my machine works. I have a personal machine with no restrictions and a work machine bound to an Active Directory domain. Even my work machine has few restrictions compared to normal. I have a privileged account I can use if necessary. Also, I'm pretty much a goody-two-shoes so I don't try to circumvent restrictions.
Basically, the Mac uses a system called Open Directory to manage user accounts. Every Mac comes with its own miniature Open Directory server. If you have a network with MacOS X Server, you can use the server's Open Directory. You can also use Microsoft's Active Directory to perform all the same tasks. The user's logins and passwords would be whatever is on Active Directory. They can change their password on the Mac and it will change the Active Directory password. Active Directory can enforce passwords expirations too.
I am not an Active Directory administrator, so I can't give you specifics. Pretty much everything you have mentioned can be controlled via Active Directory. That is what it is for. It does require active participation of your IT staff. If you don't have that, then I don't see it working out well. It sounds like a paradox. IT wants to control users, but doesn't want to deal with it. You can't have it both ways. Maybe let it be known among the Mac users that visiting those restricted sites could cause IT to get rid of Mac altogether. That does sound like a probable outcome.

  • Is there a way to transfer SMS and iMessages from iPhone to Mac, without paying for a 3rd party program?

Ive Googled a few site that have free programs but all charge to transfer files. ive tried "iMacsoft iPhone to Mac Transfer" and that failed. Is there an easy way???

You can take screen shots of the messages on the iPhone, and then transfer the Camera Roll screen shots to your Mac.

  • Can i easily share pictures from my iphone to my mac without buying iphoto or aperture?

I have an album on my iPhone 4 that I would like to have on my MacBook Pro.  I don't want to have to individually select each of the 150 photos and email them all to myself, then save each one.  Is there any way to share the photos from my phone to mac without doing all of these steps? I also do not want to buy iPhoto or Aperture.  How can I do this?  Thanks!!

You Mac came with iPhoto preinstalled. What version is it?  Does it work with Mavericks?  If it does just follow the linke pvonk provided.
If it doesn't then you can connect your iPhone to your Mac, launch Image Capture and download all of your photos to a folder on the Desktop.
Getting photos from you Mac to the iPhone is a bit more difficult without iCloud.  You can use Dropbox on both the Mac and iPhone to transfer photos.

  • I put together and sent 10 pictures from my granddaughter's birthday party. Is there a way of sending them with a link recipients can click on, rather than having all the pictures download as part of the email message?

I put together and sent 10 pictures from my granddaughter's birthday party. Is there a way of sending them with a link recipients can click on, rather than having all the pictures download as part of the email message?

Hello userlarry, do you have Mobile Me? You could use that. Or you could compress them, you would still need to send them in an email, but it would help with size limitations of emails.
To compress them, put them in a folder and right click on the folder. You should see a Compress option. Then just drag the .zip file into your mail.

Is there a way to send a form to a field force that allows a picture to be added. The field person could add the picture from the tablet's photo gallery or take a photo with the camera?

"It has to do with Protected Mode being turned on.  I don't know if it was off by default & now it is on with the update but turning it off changes Adobe Reader's behavior back to what the users expect - a prompt warning you if you want to overwrite the existing file & then selecting Yes to overwrite.
    To disable Protected Mode:
    Start Adobe Reader
Edit - Preferences - Security (Enhanced)
Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at Startup
    Close Preferences & Close Reader"
We unchecked the "Enable Protected Mode at startup" box --> Yes --> OK.  Our users are happy now.  ^_^

  • Is there a way to view pictures sent & received?

is there a way to view pictures and messages sent & received?

You can view the text messages and picture messages on the phone they were sent form, and on the phone that received the messages.  With the introduction of Integrated Messaging, you can now send and receive messages on phones, tablets, and your computer.
Depending on your phone and other devices, how you would view those messages may change. What device(s) do you have?  Have you tried the Integrated messaging app?

    http://deciphertools.com/tm-mac.html
or you talking about sending a txt using your email?
Each carrier has a different email address:
    AT&T – [email protected]
