I'm also not sure what you want to accomplish by this. Until you hit the "call" button, the phone is not 'off hook' like a traditional landline would be. There is no such thing as a dial tone on any cell phone. The dial tone was simply a carrier signal from the central office that prepared that end to listen for the pulses (later tones) generated when you dialed.

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(

I rceived a 2008 Imac with erased hard drive. They gave me the two install discs but it keeps coming up cannot install OS X on this computer.

Technically speaking, however, the issue is that the install/restore DVDs that ship with Macs do not carry all the drivers, or even all of the various versions of libraries that support all of the various models of Macs. The come-with-your-Mac disks are different than the retail versions of the OS (also, the come-with-your-Mac ones bundle iLife, which the retail ones don't).
Because the come-with-your-Mac disk contains only the drivers specific to that generation and model line of Mac, it contains a stub of code that verifies that your hardware matches the driver set on the install/restore DVD.
Your friend has a different model of Mac, with different hardware, so her install/restore disk won't work in yours. Solution: go get the retail boxed version of Leopard. -

When I open firefox it is returning to the last viewed page instead of my homepage even though I have the settings set to clear history every time I close Firefox. I check and all of the previous history is still there and not deleted..
Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that that there are no longer Firefox or plugin-container processes left on the Processes tab in the Task Manager. Otherwise session restore will reopen the page(s) from the previous session.

I can no longer in email click on a web address and have the address open in Safari. Nothing happens if I hold and click on Open in the window that comes up. I can copy the address there and put it in Safari and it opens OK

I have alert/notification sounds set up to beep when I receive a text message.
Sometimes I will be talking on the phone...with the phone to my ear, and I will get a text message(s) from someone at the same time, and even though I have the phone to my ear, it still beeps out loud. As far as I can tell, it is at the same volume as when I don't have it next to my ear.
It hurts my ear, and also the person I am talking to can hear the beeping. I can't hear what the person on the phone is saying to me while it is beeping.
I also have the sound set up to beep a second time if I don't read the text. When I have the phone to my ear and I am trying to talk, it beeps in my ear for the first alert...and then it beeps in my ear for the second reminder alert that reminds me that I still haven't read the text. Again, I can't hear the person I am talking to while all the beeping is happening.
Is there a way to set the phone so that it will still beep when I get a text message (when the phone is not to my ear), but it will only vibrate or play a very low sound or something if I have the phone to my ear? Kind of like caller ID on a landline will play a "no sound/pause" when a call is coming in while you are on the phone.

As the iPhone remembers the original appleID, prior to you changing it, to change the appleID that your iPhone remembers go to settings>itunes and app store>appleID>sign out, then sign back in with the correct, updated details -

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

Close the videos app and launch it again.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
if they still don't show up after you launch the app again, try resetting the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

Hi, My old phone Blackberry had an alarm. I would set it and then shut the phone off. The phone would turn itself on when the alarm had to go off.
IPone 4 will not do that. So, how do I set the alarm and not have the phone ring or get text alerts. I cannot figure out how to do this.
How do you delete pictures that are not on the camera roll there is a garbage can for those but not for other picture. I have double from synching too many times, this is my first Apple and I am not finding it easy to use.

You can select whether or not it will vibrate when the mute switch is engaged. Settings>Sounds>Silent. Turn Vibrate on or off. -

You can only track it if you turned on Settings > iCloud > Find My before it was lost/stolen, and then registered it in iCloud's Find My Phone service. You must then log in to iCloud, click Find My Phone and see if it shows up. If it is turned off, not connected to the internet or been reset to factory condiditon it will not show up. There is no way to track it except in that way.
Report it to the police, insurance and cell provider in case the will blacklist the iPhone so it cannot be used.
Change your passwords for accounts on the iPhone. -

Hi there I have a iPhone 3G and it was with O2 but needed to go onto 3 network so someone on my local market unlocked it and the phone was working fine until I tried to update it through iTunes and it always now stops loading towards the end with an error is there a way to get the phone working again please.Shame you had the iPhone hacked as O2 usually unlock their customers iPhones happily.

I have a 2008 MacPro running the current Yosemite. I have installed the recommended upgraded video card, but the sound is as it was new. I also have installed the sound amp/graphic equalizer called "BOOM!" I have the Sound set to Line Out which should have the computer boot up automatically to BOOM! and thus to the external speakers. Instead, it boots up to the Internal speaker. According to the folks at "BOOM!", this is happening to others who have similar Macs. Sorry, I guess I didn't state the problem very well.
I don't want the computer to boot up to the internal speaker. I want it to boot up to the external speakers. However, even though System Preferences is set on Line Out, when the computer boots up or reboots, it erroneously goes to internal speaker. So, every time I boot up, I have been going to System Preference/Sound and clicking on Line Out. From that point on, everything is OK until the next boot up. It is a small annoyance, but annoying all the less. The simple explanation seems to be that when the computer is shut down, it does not hold the setting for Line Out and resets itself to Internal Speaker. How do I change that behavior and get it to go to Line Out whenever it boots up? -
Each time I open my Firefox browser, the tab from the last time opens. I have the browser set to open on my home page, not to the tab from the last time. I keep trying to save the setting for the browser to open on my home page but it doesn't.
Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
