The passed screenshot describe the exact scheme required to change the shortcut linked to the menu item whose wording is "Orthographe…" in French. I added that you aren't allowed to apply a shortcut which is global to the mac OS system. It's your duty to find a letter which will not conflict with an other shortcut.
I perfectly know that many letters are already used. I'm just not here to waste my time searching for a possible alternate shortcut for you.
If you are unable to read carefully, don't assume that it's your interlocutor which is ignorant.
I took the screenshot explaining how to link a custom shortcut to a menu item on 2009/01/20.
Since this date, I posted it many times and you are the first one unable to apply the explanations.
Maybe time to ask a doctor if he may cure that.

Apple remote not working, is there a way to setup Apple TV without the remote

Welcome to the Apple Community Sylvia.
There is no way to set up home sharing on the Apple TV without the original remote from Apple, you will need to purchase a new remote from the Apple Store.

    Thanks for the reply Russ.
Yes, I've considered adding titles and/or generators in the FCPX storyline, but this creates a need to render the entire timeline. As I'm juggling library locations and hard drive spaces I just didn't want to add a new render that will occupy a lot of space. It's also a bit of visual clultter for me, so my goal is to find the best workflow for adding this stuff on or after export.

  • Is there any way to setup a email account for sending only

is there any way to setup a email account for sending only?  i have a pop account that i fwd to my google acct, so all my mail is mapi thru google/exchange. i do need this account as a send email address so currently i have entered a wrong password so i do not duplicate my inbox.  its annoying as i get the bad reteival popup continuessly.  Many email products, like outlook allow you to decide which accounts to download.  it should be a simple fix from Apple, but dont think there is any one to talk too about this.  other option is to use the gmail app or chrome, but like apple's email better for iphone  Any ideas??

Is there a way to setup a rescue email after you have created your Apple account?  I did not setup the security questions or the optional rescue email.  Now I am stuck. I presume I cannot receive the reset email to set security question answers because I do not have a rescue email.

Yep... pretty much SoL until Apple's Snafu is over...

  • Is there a way to operate the command key using the mouse?

I am working with a student who has limited movement of his hands. He is able to operate a mouse. However, he cannot operate the mouse and make key commands at the same time. Is there any way to adapt the mouse so command key actions can be carried out without pressing the key?

Look inside System Preference "Universal Access" (or whatever even more politically correct name it is called now).
There is a feature called "Sticky keys". That says that when you press the command key in a certain way, it stays pressed (It is "Sticky").
There are also two and three button mouse devices that can be used readily on a Mac (including the "Mighty Mouse" with the little rollerball) that can register one, two, or three button operations.

  • Is there a way to setup your Xbox 360 to the new MacBook Pro

I was just wondering if there was a way to setup your XBOX 360 to the new MacBook Pro? If you could give a simple answer that is simple to understand that would be great. My Xbox is connected using an HDMI but I also have a component cable.

There is no cable that would do what you want. MacBook Pro computers do not have video inputs.

  • Is there a way to "embed" -Xmx command into program

    Hi fellow members,
I have been working on a program to analyze web page structural similarity and has been posting on this forum for some help recently. At the moment I manage to parse html into DOM tree and perform tree edit distance analysis.
But I'm facing a problem which is heap memory running out. More complex web pages run up to >1000 nodes and the recursive comparing which has a time complexity of N^2 will cause outofmemory error. I have already reduced the number of nodes such as excluding text nodes as I'm primarily concerned with the structural similarity.
By using -Xmx to increase the heap memory helps to solve the problem partially. I would prefer to embed this command into the program so that user does not need to type it out every time. Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.

I see, thanks a lot guys, I will read up on batch file processing.
But I'm wondering if I'm going to make it into a .exe file which will include the GUI in the near future, will I still need to write a batch file or any swing component can set the memory?
One more wild question, is there a way to set heap memory to be dynamic, as in increasing according to the program needs?

  • Is there a way to make invoke-command interactive?

    Hello,
I have a script that runs an invoke-command with multiple arguments and performs operation on a remote workstation.
I want to add some additional confirmations and dialogue choices depending on how the script block executes on the remove PC.
Is there a way to do that?

I'm afraid it's not possible in my scenario.
I'm using invoke-command with Credssp authentication because I need to execute a number of commandlets that are only installed on a specific remote server. Those powershell commandlets from Microsoft do not work if installed on the client.
Those commandlets use network share resources too, that's why Credssp is used.
During the execution of invoke-command I wanted to make an additional confirmation for overwriting of some resources.
The other option is to run several invoke-commands and get output from the queries, construct the dialogue options based on those queries and  gather input locally and then run the final execute invoke-command last, but it seems just like too much of
hassle for now, so i'll leave things as they are.

  • Is there a way to send external commands to a program running via JWS?

Basically, I want a COM object to be able to send a command to my java program launched as a JWS app to minimize/hide windows or quit the program. Is there an API or any way to go about doing this?

    >
Thanks, that does what I am looking for. >You're welcome.
    >
However, if I launch the same jar with a different jnlp, i.e. a jnlp that specifies a different list of properties, those properties do not get set when launching the second jnlp >Huh? Do you mean properties or arguments? The arguments of the app. might get replaced. But as far as I understand, properties are unaffected. But in any case..
    >
..if the jar implements the SingleInstance. is there a way to fix that?>..I think this is a separate problem, for a new thread.
On that new thread, it might be helpful to describe the problem if you can provide an URL to a demo, or better still, a downloadable build file, like the SingleInstanceService example offers*.
One thing to consider is to not implement the SIS, but instead to have each Java app. instance try to connect to a prearranged socket as a client. If it fails, it claims a ServerSocket on that port, ready for any other instances to connect as clients. The first instance then handles all information coming from the COM object and passes it on to the relevant application instance.
A complicating factor in that approach is to ensure that the first instance (with the socket management) does not shut down while other instances are on-screen and will potentially still need access to it.
Of course for that scenario, each Java app. will have a socket for connecting to the manager, but the server app. will need a multi-threaded socket to accept the client(s) and a separate socket for the COM object.

  • Is there a way to use voiceover commands without voiceover?

I was messing around on my computer to see what I could find, and I found voiceover utility. I can hear, see, feel, and sense perfectly well, so I didn't think it would be of interest to me. But, I found the commands section of it, and wanted to try it out. In this section you are supposed to be able to hold down (for example) option and do a gesture on your trackpad to do some sort of command. This seems to only work with voiceover enabled, but I think that it would be really cool if I could use these sort of controls day to day (without the annoying speaking). Is there a way to do that? Maybe a third party application? Thanks to anyone who knows (and understands my question)
    -Tom

Static make the variable (or the method) available
directly from the class. You don't have to
instantiate it to use its static methods and
variables. For example, the class java.lang.Math
contains a lot of static methods. That's why you can
    use Math.sqrt(foo) without doing a Math m = new
    Math();
In fact, you can't even instantiate a Math object...If you set a variable to static and you DO have instances of that object, then the changes made to that variable in one instance (or directly through the class) effect ALL instances of that object, right?
So if I had a static textfield in two instances of an edit class I had running, and I changed the value in one of the edit class, then the same change would take effect in the other edit class as well, correct?

  • Is there any way to setup server side deferred delivery in Exchange 2013?

We are utilizing 3rd party software to generate reports and email results.  Unfortunately, the software cannot be configured to execute at a specific time, date only.  This means that some reports are being processed and delivered at 12:00 am.
For business reasons, management would prefer that those emails not be sent at midnight.
We are looking for a solution that would allow the messages to be generated at midnight but not be delivered by Exchange until several hours later.
Is there any way to set a deferred delivery option server side in Exchange?  It can be set through Outlook, but only applies to mail sent from Outlook.
Any advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I afraid that it can't be done in Exchange with native features. You might need to develop custom transport agent or need to utilize the 3rd party tool to achieve this...
You can try in Development forum to see if you can get any help there...

  • Is there a way to setup Password in Mail

I've spent about 2 hours reading various posts on this question and I believe the answer is "No", but I will still ask.
My wife and I have shared an email account in Mac Mail for a number of years.  Our internet provider is COMCAST.  Recently, I set up her own email account in Mac Mail.  However she would like it to be private without me or anyone else being able to access it.  Since we don't have a login to access the MacBook Pro we share, we obviously can access each other's files easily. So, Is there a way to password protect her email account in Mac Mail so that to open it, she has to enter a password?
I've tried to set up seperate Mac Mail windows...no luck
I've tried to alter the account under System Preferences...no luck
We are running OS X Mavericks...and 3rd party software (ie Thunderbird, etc) is not preferred because of her familiarity with Mac Mail and the need for her continued access to our shared account.
Any help would be appreciated....AND PLEASE NO LINKS TO MACFORT

My advice would be to create a new user account for your wife.
OS X is a multi-user OS. It is designed such that each user has their own workspace. Combining two people into the same workspace does not work well, as you have seen. None of Apple's software is designed to work such that you have multiple users accessing different data from within the same user account.

  • Is there a way to setup a repeating event for every 5th Sunday?

I want to have a repeating event for every 5th Saturday, or 5th Sunday. Is there a way of doing that. I only see options for the first, second, third, forth, or last.

Click get into on the event you have created, click repeat, and then custom. You can then choose "weekly" every (5) weeks and which day of the week to repeat it on.

  • Is there a way to remove the command R from opening my media browser?

I use command + t quite often when I am adjusting a track to sync with my drums, and once in a while I will accidentally click the command + R, which opens up my media browser.  This little accident ALWAYS takes about 20 - 30 seconds to open, which would be fine once in a while, but once this happens the first time Garageband always takes a lot longer to respond to my editing until I restart the program, which is a huge hassle when I am on a roll.  I would just like to remove the key command from allowing this to happen, if there is some way to do this I would be very happy to know how to get this taken care of.
    Thanks!
    Erik

Brilliant, HangTime! I missed that menu - I was looking in the "Windows" menu.
    This works:
I added "GarageBand.app" to the "Application Shortcut" section (press "+") and added new shortcuts ⇧⌘R to Show Media Browser and Hide Media Browser.
Now the ⌘R  does not do anything any longer
(You have to log off and on, or to force quit the Finder and restart GarageBand for the changes to take effect! )
Now it is "⇧⌘R"  - you can use any key combination you like instead.
