Is there a way to shut off headers and footers when printing to a pdf file?
Files designed to exactly fill a page become too large when headers and footers are added and spill over onto two pages. I can't find a way to change these settings. I am working on an Apple with OS 10.4.11
There is a switch at the left side of the iphone. Try flicking that. It should mute all sounds.

Turning off headers and footers when printing a web page.
Is it possible to turn off (or reduce the size of) the
default header and footer
when printing a web page? I am using Internet Explorer 6.0.2
900, and only want
it to work with my computer and a specific printer.
I am using the directive @page normal { size : portrait;
margin : 0;} in a CSS
stylesheet specified as media="print".

Of course, but It's not a problem with logical inches per se.
The
logical inch is just another way of looking at what is meant
by the
screen dpi value. Scaling problems, with different dpi
settings, has
always been a Windows problem and results from the way that
the OS
handles scaling. Fonts scale perfectly. Actual windows, and
other
containers, don't. This is a problem programmers have
grappled with
since the first Windows OS. Vista is the first OS to try to
tackle this
problem.
>Thus, percentages or ems work best when cross-platform
compatibility is

And that is because the users screen dpi, and hence logical
inches, are
totally irrelevant when specifying ems and percentages.
Ems and percentage equate to a number of pixels, not inches.
The sole purpose of screen dpi setting is to convert anything
sized in
physical inches into a number of screen pixels. That is the
_only_
purpose of screen dpi. It's a very simple algorithm.
(physical) inches x screen dpi value = number of pixels
How do _you_ think a font sized in points (inches) gets
translated to a
specific number of pixels on screen. I'd be interested in
your answer.
For the screen a conversion from physical inches to pixels is
always
necessary because, as you say, pixels are the unit of screen
measurement
but they are not just a "standard" measurement, they are the
only
consistent measurement. It's not the users program that
creates pixels
on screen but the Operating System. The program requests the
OS to
create a given font at a given size and the requested size
_must_ be in
pixels. Windows can't _directly_ create a screen font that's
specified
in points (inches) because it has no notion of what a
physical inch is
on screen. It does know what a logical inch is because the a
logical
inch is defined by the screen dpi value. That's what the
screen dpi
value is for. If a browser programmer wants to bypass the
variability of
screen dpi on different computers then they ignore dpi values
and work
directly in pixels i.e. in ems or percentage. When ems and
percentages
are specified one is dealing only in pixels.

Of course it makes more sense to set font size specifically
in pixels
because that's the only unit the OS can use to put something
on screen.
I can't see where you get the idea that either Michael Bowers
or I have
said that there is a unit "defined as 1/72 of a logical
inch". Every
Windows program written takes it that there are 72 points to
a
_physical_ inch.

You are implying I've said things which I haven't. I have
never, at any
time, said one should use points or inches in designing web
pages. You
seem to have missed the point that what I am doing is
explaining why you
see the results you do on screen when those unit are used.
Somewhat more
informed than "Points are only for print because I don't know
what they
mean on screen, so they must be meaningless".
>As Eric Meyer says on page 110 of "Cascading Style
Sheets: The
>Definitive Guide" (2nd Edition), "points can be a very
difficult
>measurement to use in document design."
And again, I've never advocated using them in page design. A
close
reading, however, from page 83 onwards shows that Eric Meyer
has an
imperfect notion of the meaning of screen dpi. Heresy!! He's
hardly
alone, which is why I did a web site.

Once again, I have never advocated that. You are setting up a
straw man
to knock down. You can do better than that.

By "headers and footers" I mean the url that gets printed at the top/bottom of the page.
You can do that from
'''Firefox Menu''' > '''Print Setup''' (Press the right arrow button in the right end of print option) > '''Print setup''' > '''Margin & Header/Footer''' tab
In Header/ Footer section select '''--blank--- for ''' from drop down for everything or which ever you don't want -
Is there a way to shut off the cellular radio ?
Is there a way to shut off the cellular radio ?
I can go to “settings” and switch off cellular data. However I still see the signal strength meter and my iPhone will ring if called.
I thought there was a way to shut off the cellular radio in an iPhone and keep the Wi-Fi turned on.When you turn Airplane mode on, it does turn all the radios off. You can, however, turn the WiFi and bluetooth back on.
Enjoy. -
Ios7 - is there a way to shut off or clear the new photo stream activity?
Ios7 - is there a way to shut off or clear the new photo stream activity? I am not asking how to shut off photo streams, just would like to clear or shut off the new 'social' activity portion of photo stream
Thank you, but that is not it, and I am talking about the iCloud photo streams. I know how to modify who can see or post to a shared stream, that's extremely easy.
What is an issue is the new 'social' style activity that summarizes all of the shared streams. It now posts/summarizes them in an activity thread in 'streams', called "Activity"
I would like to shut that off or be able to clear that view. While I enjoy the occasionally funny pics I receive from old college friends in shared streams, I don't want that to show up in a 'cover photo' when I go to pull up pics in front of someone. -

How do I get headers and footers to print?
A few months ago, I upgraded from OSX Lion to OSX Mavericks.
I just converted a Numbers sheet to the new version of Numbers in Mavericks.
When I prepare to print the sheet, I can see a header (containing date and title) and a footer (containing page number and count) on every page. To be clear, these are repeating lines at the top and bottom of each page - they are not rows within the table.
When I print the sheet, none of these lines appear. What do I have to do to get them to print? I solved this problem for other sheets (several months ago) by calling Apple Care. Now, my Apple Cae has expired, Help is useless and I forget what I did before.
Can someone tell me what the magic setting is wuthn Numbers?
ThanksHey theoqaat,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the headers and footers are not printing. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Is there a way to shut off Live Shapes

When I am talking on the phone, is there a way to shut down the screen so that my face does not touch the buttons?
It is supposed to shut off on its own. Some users have reported cases or screen covers that have interfered with the proper functioning of the proximity sensor. If you've removed those and cleaned the screen and still have the same problem you may have a defective proximity sensor. You may find more information by doing an internet search for "iphone proximity sensor."

I'm doing a multicam edit in cs6 and the 5 camera angles I have are straining my system. I have two main angles and three kind of back up go pro angles that I don't need most of the time. But I don't want to get rid of them either. Is there a way to turn off monitoring some of the angles at times so that video will playback smoother? Then when I need the other angles, switch them back on when I want? The video is so choppy with all 5 angles monitoring at once that multicam editing is basically impossible. I'm editing on what's supposed to be a very fast system at work but it's not fast enough...Thanks!
I'm not aware of any way to do this. You might want to invest in a battery case if this is a problem for you; our users here all have them.
Please submit your feature request to Apple at this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback; I agree it's a good idea. -
Crystal Reports 2008 Missing Page Headers and Footers when Exporting Excel
After upgrading from Crystal Reports 9 to Crystal Reports 2008 we have noticed that when we export to Excel the document no longer retains the page headers and footers. After doing some reading I see that there is a property called ExportPageHeadersAndFooters that we can tap into. However, I am unable to get this to work for me. Below is my code, do you have any suggestions?
ReportDocument rdReport = new ReportDocument();
rdReport.Load(sReportFilePath);
ExportFormatType exType = ExportFormatType.Excel;
// create an instance of excel formatting options
ExcelFormatOptions foFormat = new ExcelFormatOptions();
foFormat.UsePageRange = false;
foFormat.ExcelUseConstantColumnWidth = true;
foFormat.ExcelTabHasColumnHeadings = true;
foFormat.ExportPageBreaksForEachPage = true;
foFormat.ExportPageHeadersAndFooters = ExportPageAreaKind.OnEachPage;
// set up more exporting options
rdReport.ExportOptions.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.Excel;
rdReport.ExportOptions.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile;
rdReport.ExportOptions.FormatOptions = foFormat;
rdReport.ExportToStream(exType);I was able to get it to work but I had to do this.
ExportRequestContext expReqCntxt = new ExportRequestContext();
expReqCntxt.ExportInfo = rdReport.ExportOptions;
sExported = ((CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument)rdReport).FormatEngine.ExportToStream(expReqCntxt); -
How to change the font on headers and footers for printer HP Photosmart 6510
How can I change the size and font style of the headers and footers on my HP Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-One Printer series - B211
Hi friend,
it's a really really strange tip... May be it's a Forms bug? I've tried with set_item_property..and.. you're right, it doesn't work..
So.. you can try making this:
- create a visual attribute with an specific font size....
- use the
SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY('block.item',CURRENT_RECORD,VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE,'you_visual_attribute');
and call it from psot-change....
It works
Hope it helps,
Jose. -
Is there a way to shut off 3/4G on the IPhone 5
Is there a way to turn your 3/4g on and off on the IPhone 5.
Hi pamela laroe,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below may be able to help you with your question.
You can click on the link to see more details and screen shots.
I've highlighted the pertinent information for you below.
iOS: About the Cellular Data setting
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4203
Cellular data is used for data communication in cellular networks. It does not affect your ability to make or receive phone calls or to use Wi-Fi networks for Internet connectivity. If you turn off cellular data, you will be unable to:
See the cellular data icons in the status bar (for example, LTE or 3G).
Send or receive MMS messages. However, you can still send and receive SMS and iMessages if you're connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Retrieve or listen to new Visual Voicemail messages. To retrieve these messages, enable Cellular Data.
Use Personal Hotspot.
You can adjust this setting by going to:iPhone: Settings > Cellular
Additional Information
You can also enable or disable cellular data for certain iOS features and applications from this setting:
I hope this information helps ....
Have a great day!

Is there a way to shut off the screen of an imac, while leaving a power point running?
I have a slide show set to run on a connected monitor, but don't want to leave the screen of the mac on while it is running. I've tried **** control eject with no luck. On my pc I was able to just turn the screen off and it would still show, but there is no button like that on the imac since it is all in one. is there a way around this?
You cant switch off the power to the monitor but you can send it to sleep.
1 - Apple > System preferences > energy saver: set the monitor to sleep at the shortest duration
2 - While the second display is connected and powered on, System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement: deselect the Mirror Displays option
While the presentation plays on the secondary display, the Mac display will go to sleep as there is nothing on the screen during play, entering display sleep within seconds.
