Is there a way to simplify the EPUB output in the latest updates?

With the updates adding "more control over CSS," I find that there's a CSS file generated for every document in the book.
It used to be that there was one style.css file for the entire EPUB, and that made it easy for me to change ... to ... when streamlining the eBook.
But now, in one document, ... is bold, in another document the same class means italic. This change has turned a 30 second process into 60 minutes, since I have to check each document one at a time to do the correct replacement.
Is there a way to revert to the previous behavior? Or to make the output consistent so that the overrides are the same in all files?
Or, even better ... if a span of text is marked as [Font Family] Italic, why can't InDesign just output ... with no spans and no CharOverride styles at all?

This is a good tip.
When I first encountered this new behavior, I did add a new character style called "Italic" and one called "Bold." I set each to the corresponding tags of em and strong. Aside from the oddity of and this does seem to present a significant improvement.
However, the character styles are obviously not applied when I place a story that has bold and italic in it or when I change to italics on the fly (using keyboard shortcuts). Am I correct in understanding that I need to go back through all documents to replace italics with "Character Style: Italic" and bold with "Character Style: Bold" throughout the book?
Also, I'm good with changing this process for books going forward, but I'm wondering what the simplest way to update past books will be. (They only change in response to errata, and that will happen semiannually at most.)

We have a number of newly built 2012 R2 servers that we have HP Operations Manager agent running on that monitors the status of several services and reports if they are "stopped". One of these services is Windows Update. Every day we
get at least one alert saying:
"Service "Windows Update" is not started. Current state is stopped"
Checking the event logs shows that the Windows Update service stops, then a while later it just starts again. Not an error, just an information event.
In Windows 2012 R2 the Windows Update service is set to "Automatic (Trigger Start)", where in previous versions we run (2012/2008R2) it would be set to just "Automatic" or "Automatic (Delayed Start)"
I have come to understand that this behaviour is normal for Windows 2012 R2, and that Trigger Start services by design stop themselves after a period of inactivity. I was unable to find any info on how this works. Our client would like this to
be changed and the Windows Update service stay running all the time, understanding that this impacts performance.
Is there a way to change the Windows Update service in Server 2012 R2 to the old Automatic startup behaviour so that it stays running all the time instead of stopping and starting periodicall? There is no option to do this via the services mmc
gui.
So far I have tried:
Removing the Triggers using the command: sc triggerinfo wuauserv delete
This works temporarily, the service then shows as just Automatic in the services console, however if you restart the server or restart the service it goes right back to being Automatic (Trigger Start).
Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Only when BC tries to bill the card and can not. Admin will be locked out and when they try to go to the admin the form requesting payment appears and they can add their new details in there.

Since the begging this computer has been very sensitive with video drivers, the use of SLI technology implies the use of the last Nvidia driver but our computer has never been officially added to Nvidia laptop releases. More generally, with some video games, I have big performances issues (for example Starcraft II), very high temperatures and sometimes artefacts.
Is there a way to have the latest officials drivers (without having to modify by hand .INF file) and what about temperatures issue ?

Arzul-there is a way to use the latest Nvidia verde notebook driver without you having to modify the inf. yourself.
I posted the full method in the gaming forum under 'Toshiba display drivers and what they dont want you to know'-just follow that but use the latest Nvidia notebook driver and matching modified inf. from Laptopvideo2go instead of the driver i mentioned as i posted that sometime ago.
I have an x300-13w with the hybrid sli set up and i'm using the 258.96 driver with the pre-modified inf. from Laptopvideo2go with no issues-i have the nvidia SLI profile running for Starcraft 2 and its runs great!
However i did purchase a Zelmann laptop cooler to help during the summer and even though my GPU temp gets to 80-90c this is no hotter than when i was using Toshibas outdated driver-i do also regularly use compressed air can on the vents.All this has helped me to have good stable gaming on all the latest games.
I do share your frustration at the fact that our laptop is not included officially in nvidia drivers even though it has a Nvidia chipset not an Intel one-but its all to do with cold,hard business-Toshiba do not want to pay Nvidia to have our 'old' laptop supported in driver releases.
One thing that you should do if you update your display driver-also update to the latest BIOS from Toshiba-this corrected a bug which had prevented screen brightness control from working with gpus in SLI with recent drivers.
You will lose the laptops ability to auto switch to the motherboard gpu when on battery as well as this is a function only built into Toshiba display drivers-but you can do this manually yourself in needs be.
One disappointing thing i noticed with the release notes for the latest Nvidia driver-it states that 258.96 will be the LAST one to support hybrid SLI-i dont know if this means we wont be able to use later drivers even with modded inf.

Are there any known issues with the latest update to iTunes on Windows 7 maxing out the processor and nearly bringing the system to a hault.

Has anyone experienced an issue with the latest update to iTunes (11.2.0.115) for Windows where iTunes pegs out the processor at 97%, 98%, and holds there for maybe 15 minutes before dropping to 50%. During that time, the system is basically useless. You just have to ride it out. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Is there a way to simplify the published version of an animation, so it can be easily added into RealMedia ad service?

When publishing an animation from Edge, I get given 1 x html file and 3 (or 5) js files. Is there an option to add the js inline, so that I am only left with 1 html file? This would make it a lot easier to add an animated file into RealMedia ad service.
At the moment I am left trying to work out what file paths to change in the js files and then making sure the html file is also looking at an uploaded addess for the js files.

Is there any way to get the latest equipment? ( The Verizon anti-loyalty program.)

My DVR is the old 80GB model. The new 500GB model has been available to "new" customers for some time now. Current customers can only get on a "someday" waiting list. Full story below. Incidentally, this is the worst treatment I get from any service I pay for from any vendor. If I could get fiber from anyone else, I'd dump Verizon.
I am extremely unhappy with my FIOS service and the general treatment I have received in the last month. I have been a loyal customer of Verizon FIOS for a long time, years, I was an early adopter. I called in December (my contract was up again) and in order to renew I asked for an equipment upgrade (my DVR is too small). I was promised an upgrade and renewed my contract. I was sent to different boxes containing the same equipment I already have (which I returned). After many hours online and on the phone sorting this out of 2 weekends we finally sorted out the problem. The requested DVR model I was promised and have asked for since early December is only being given to NEW customers. As a loyal customer who has given Verizon thousands of dollars, I am punished by being denied access to modern equipment. I was told as a current customer I could sign up on a waiting list and someday the equipment will be offered to older customers (I can only assume after every new customer in the world signs up). I was alternately told by a customer service rep that the only way to get what I asked for is to rip out all my current equipment, send it in, make and wait for new installation appointments, and become a new customer. THIS IS UTTERLY REPUGNANT. I have been with Verizon for years. I believe I am not less important that anyone off the street that wants to sign up. Is Verizon willing to do anything at all about this? Is this my reward for years of paying Verizon, to be treated like a second class customer and offered untenable options??? I feel after all my loyalty and lots and lots of cash over the years I deserve the same thing as any other customer.

Under $15 a month and does everything I want. I thought I missed the VOD untill I got it back for 2 months and decided I didn't need it. Multi Room, don't need it. Tried it once and canceled it. The only reason I have MRDVR now was to get the discounted HD boxes which they do now anyway. Shame they started that a month after I picked up the VZ DVR.
I did sugest that Verizon partner with TiVO and cut their development cost, and that was given a not likely response. Yea if Verizon offered a TiVO with the guide TiVO provides, TiVO VOD options, Verizon VOD options, Verizon Widgets, I would give Verizon $20 a month no problem.
I had a Verizon 6216 DVR for 4 years, a TiVO still for over a year, and now a 7216 for about 2 months. I like TiVO. Sorry Verizon.

Why keep telling people to uninstall, install, update, test, check, double check, test again....When all the solutions being suggested just don't work for most people.

Hi, What you are describing is called Troubleshooting. It would be very easy if your opinion was true, but it isn't. Have you ever read the multiple Microsoft, Firefox, Apple, Motorola, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, HP, Youtube and Dell FORUMS? Well, I have and do and I can tell you I'm surprised that Adobe Flash Player can design a Flash Player to work in and around all of those Operating Systems and Technology Companies!! And there are hundreds of more companies that I do not have time to mention.
And no, I am not an Employee of Adobe.
Not every solution is going to work for every computer configuration, that is #1.
When people take their computers in for repair, there is an advantage, to wit: they have the computer and they can see and test it.
Here on the Forum, we that help don't have that advantage. That is why the questions are asked and various actions are requested.
If you want help, reply back with your operating system and browser(s) versions.

Why was there no plugin included with the latest update of Flashplayer??

Why on earth would a company like Adobe put forth an update to Flashplayer and not include a plugin with it???
It seems that Adobe is screwing up with the other big guy's as well ie, Java.
So, what else is new. More and more companies are hiring more and more help who are incompetent. It is starting to run rampant.

[CS2 on Windows XP]: Is there a way to modify the JPG compression in an SVG?

I have got an EPS file.It contains some text, some paths, and a rastered image.
Saved as a JPG with moderate compression it is 125KB in size. For an EPUB I want to insert is as an SVG. But when I save it as an SVG (text being converted to paths) it is over 600 KB and thus exeeding the 300k limit that exists for files within an EPUB container.
Is there a way to have the JPG stream in the SVG more compressed? The W3C spec of the SVG format doesn't say anything about a fixed compression level, so I guess the compression can be varied. But Illustrator CS2 doesn't seem to have any appropriate setting.

Is there a way to restict the network access of an application? In other words, is there a way to guarantee that an application will only operate in offline mode?

Well, more than just knowing if an application will work in offline mode, I'm interested in whether there's a way to forcibly the revoke network access of an application. For example, I don't think something like an epub reader should have network access and I want to insure it does not communicate to an external server.

I'm really not fond of having to maximize every time I want to skip through a song or long audio file.
