Is there a way to stop Safari from jumping from tab to tab?

I have a folder on my Bookmark Bar with 6 bookmarks that open up as tabs. These tabs contain all my banking websites, i.e. banks, credit cards, savings accounts and so on.
I click on the folder and six tabs open up. Everything is cool, however some days some websites load faster than others so I click on the first tab that has loaded and I attempt to login. This tab maybe the 5th tab from the left for example.
I start typing in my account and password and the first tab from the left then completes its loading and halfway into my password I jump to that tab. Royal pain in the rear.
Also when I create a new tab type in the URL hit return, then jump back to the original tab while the new tab loads, I want to stay on the tab I am on until I am done. I don't want to jump back to new tab once its loads.
Question: Is there anyway, any preference, any setting that I set to keep Safari from jumping around? Any way to submit this preference to Apple as an option or upgrade?
Thanks for your replies (BTW, I am just annoyed at this but I will reward the best answer!)

I guess you are using "Auto Click" right? Hence all tabs open at one go. I use the same thing but have never come across this even though I have "Select tabs and windows as they are created" turned on from preferences>tabs. Strange.
I'm using Safari v3.2.1

  • Is there any way to stop the print screen from dropping down on top of the page to be printed.  Can the print screen be moved?

Is there a way to stop the print screen from dropping down on top of the page to be printed.  Can the print screen be moved?  When the print screen drops down, it covers the page and the info needed to create the file.  Thank you

You will find that this is application dependent.  Most Apple applications such as Safari and Mail will use the "sheet" type of dialog boxes that you are referring.  There is no way for the user to change that behavior.  Other, non-Apple, applications like Firefox use a "modal" dialog box for printing etc.  The modal boxes can be moved around so you can see the page behind.

Thank you Linc.  I knew that I did something in system preferences to cause it to bounce, but couldn't remember what I did.  I appreciate your help!  Kelly

  • Is there a way to stop a deactivated iPhone from constantly looking for service (other than Airplane Mode)?

I have an iPhone 4S that has been deactivated for another phone.  It's been acting as an extra iPod Touch for me, but after restarting it this morning, I am no longer connected to the cell towers from my old service.  Now I am getting a constant cycle of 'searching' and 'no service'. I'm certain this is going to murder my battery life, and I was wondering if there was a way to either reconnect to the towers (without needing service), stay put on 'no service', or completely disconnect the carrier from the device (freeing it from its 'no service'/'searching' bondage).
Clarification: I'm not looking to unlock it when I say disconnect from the carrier, I just want it to stop draining my battery.
Thank you for the help, guys.

Pull out the SIM card, but don't throw it away.   You'll need it again if you ever wipe the device and need to reactivate it, even though it doesn't work.

  • Is there any way to stop those annoying adds from popping up?

Seems like this site has just started putting ads at the top of pages. Or is that being done by some rouge program that has attached itself to my Chrome browser? If it's the site that's doing it, please STOP IT, or at least let me know how I can do that
    myself.

These dam things are sometime difficult to remove, they install them self in the registry as start-up and keep coming back each time you restart your computer(even if you disable the add-on in your browser.)
    If it is the case,
       Windows 7 and before
from the Start menu, select Run ... type "msconfig" ... in the windows that pops, select the "Startup" tab ... Uncheck the check box that correspond to the Add program (Not always obvious to find :(
Windows 8 you need to do it from the Task manager ... it is even harder to find
If you are not sure about what to uncheck, contact somebody that can help you, you cant just disable everything, some things in there are essential for your computer

  • Is there a way to stop the Edge network from activating?  Overseas Travel

I am travelling in Europe and I do not want the EDGE network to be activated. But I can't find a way to turn off the Edge network. At $1 per KB, this is going to get expensive. I am using WiFi when I can, but the rest of the time, it's on Edge and with Yahoo push email, I end up with 50+ KB per day of traffic.
Does anyone have any ideas? When I leave the wifi area, I turn off my email. But there still seems to be traffic on the edge network (under Settings > Usage). I prefer to do my email only in a wifi zone.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I agree. I am currently in the UK and am contending with this. i turned off my e-mail as well but I will be contacting AT&T for a credit on all of the data transfer I invouluntarily incurred while here.

  • On my iPad 3 is there any way to stop the pictures from flipping 180 when saved?

When I take pictures with my iPad, when the pictures save they always flip to the opposite side. Like a mirror image. I am wondering if there was anything I can do to fix this as it is extremely annoying!

Yes the calendar is gone. I guess it is the notification center I am referring to that comes down when I accidently swipe the top of the screen. Is there a way to stop of notification center from coming down if you swipe the screen? I figured out how to stop the control center from coming up if you swipe the bottom on the screen. Now I just need to figure out how to stop the top of the screen from doing the same thing

  • Is there a way to stop the brightness from going up when alarm goes off?

I have an iPhone 5s running iOS 7.0.6. I plug it in at night next to my bed and use it as an alarm clock. I am running the NiceClock app because it has a great black background with slim red clock numbers (doesn't throw a lot of glare). I am using the built-in Clock app that comes with the current iOS as the alarm (NiceClock, while great for a simple bedside clock with no glare, does not come with an alarm). I set my iPhone's brightness on the lowest possible setting to keep the backlight glare down. It's great. Low glare, and I can still see the time if I wake up in the middle of the night without having to fumble with the iPhone. My problem is when the alarm goes off the brightness level jumps up to maximum. Is there a way to prevent the brightness level of the iPhone from changing when the alarm goes off?

  • Is there any way to prevent my SSIS Tasks from reformatting themselves when I want to change the Name

So all my tasks are nicely laid out in my SSIS Package. Now I want to go add a blurb to the Name to make it a little more descriptive. When I do that, Microsoft Visual Studio just automatically re-sizes the task so the entire description, name fits. When
I make it the right size, my scripting name is wrapping and that's the way I want it to look within my Package. Is there any way to stop Microsoft Visual Studio from automagically adjusting the size of my task when I click on the Name to edit?
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

There is no way. The designer canvas received improvements in SSIS ver 2012, but this specific aspect remain unchanged.
What I do I simply use the Format -> Autolayout -> Diagram or you can also/instead Ctrl-A to select all and choose "make same size"

  • Is there a way to stop .oam files from previewing as previously placed files in Muse CC?

I'm placing a new .oam file in a new website I'm creating in Muse but it previews as a previous .oam file that I used in a previous website. When preview the page on a browser it's fine but it's making it hard to place the .oam file in the correct position. Is there a way to stop this from happening so it previews correctly in Muse?

If you're using Safari as your web browser go to "Safari -> Preferences...", select "General" from the toolbar and uncheck the "Open safe files after downloading" box.
Other browsers should have a similar setting in their prefs.

  • Is there a way to stop the OS from switching to a newly opened app?  I would like to be able to continue what I'm doing while I wait for an app to launch and not get interrupted by a forced entry into the app.

Is there a way to stop the OS from switching to a newly opened app?  I would like to be able to continue what I'm doing while I wait for an app to launch and not get interrupted by a forced entry into the app.
As an example, I'm going to my email in safari, while I wait for it to load, I open an excel document, and the OS decides excel should be the front app, so I go back to safari so I can enter my login info, but halfway through my password the OS decides that excel is where I should finish typing my password.
VERY ANNOYING.  Can I open apps in the background?

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. J D, I'm not a terminal fan, but I'm sure it works.  I found a solution that I can use in the dock from another post.

  • Is there a way of stopping the battery from charging?

    Dear Apple Community,
Recently I installed iStat Menus and found that, over the course of this year, my Macbook's charging capacity has dropped 5%. I know this isn't a massive number, but battery performance has become a concern for me. I use my Macbook as a desktop replacement, on the main. It's sitting on a mStand, connected to a large monitor on my desk. I use my Macbook to play games, surf the internet, do work and all that good stuff - basically, I use it for everything. I rarely use the Macbook without it being plugged in. I read on the Apple website that they do not recommend leaving the Macbook on charge permanently and that I should use it on battery at least one a month. As I use my Macbook as a desktop replacement, I don't actually have a lot of opportunity to do this.
My question to you, the community, is: is there a way of stopping the battery from charging, either with the use of an app or a physical device? Ideally, I would love to have my power plugged in BUT only used when the battery drops below 10%. Is this possible with an app?
On the other hand, am I just worrying about nothing? Will my battery be damaged further if I leave the Macbook charging permanently?
    Thanks for your help!
    Jeremy Reid

Ideally, I would love to have my power plugged in BUT only used when the battery drops below 10%. Is this possible with an app?
The charging characteristics are handled in firmware.  There is no app that would be able to do this.  You actually would not want to do this anyway.  Regularly discharging your battery to 10% will greatly decrease the life of your battery.  While it is true that you should not use your system exclusively plugged in, allowing it to run on battery a few hours a week should be fine.  Letting the battery regularly run down to (or below) 10% will cause you to use up cycles more quickly than is necessary (thereby reducing the life of your battery).  It's really a only a matter of disconnecting your Magsafe connector once in a while.
Leaving it plugged in does not result in it being charged "permanently".  It will charge until it is full and then charging will stop.  It will only begin recharging when it reaches about 95%.

  • After I watch a podcast I delete it. When I go back in the next day it shows 500-600 episodes I have to delete manually. So 2 questions....  Is there a way to stop this from happening and is there a way to delete all. This is getting frustrating.

After I watch a podcast I delete it. When I go back in there are 500-600 episodes and I have to delete each one manually. Is there a way to stop this from happening or is there a way to delete all at once. It's getting very frustrating.

Had all these issues.  Bit the bullet and downloaded the Downcast App ($1.99).  Much better expereince and a lot more features.  Sad.

  • When I try to print a drawing imported from my ipad iphoto crops it. Is there any way to stop this?

When I try to print a drawing imported from my ipad iphoto crops it. Is there any way to stop this?

Usual cause: printing at the wrong aspect ratio for the image - trying to print 5 x 3 in the shape of a 6 x 4 for instance.
