Is there a way to stop the missed text messages/calls to be displayed

On the screen? In other words, they are listed as the number of text messages "not read" but does not show "Susan - Why are you ignoring me?!?" instead I just see that I have 15 unread messages as a number under my Text icon. Which means I have 15 messages to delete, but I digress... Is there an option or 3rd party app to stop these missed calls/text to display?
Thanks!
Tony

There is no option or setting provided by Apple for this, and I don't believe Apple would allow a 3rd party app or utility to provide this function.

  • I have the iphone 2g with the $20 unlimited data plus 200 texts, is there any way to keep the tiered text messaging plan when I upgrade to the iphone 4s?

I have the original iphone on AT&T with the $20 unlimited data with 200 text messages.  I know that I can keep the unlimited data plan when I upgrade to the iphone 4s, but I would also like to keep my 200 text message plan.  Is there any way for me to keep this feature?  Also on the original Iphone, I could upgrade to the unlimited data plan with 1500 text messages, if I upgrade this feature, will it extend my contract?
    Thanks,

Sorry no, there isn't a way to turn off those reminders.

  • Is there a way of stopping the battery from charging?

    Dear Apple Community,
Recently I installed iStat Menus and found that, over the course of this year, my Macbook's charging capacity has dropped 5%. I know this isn't a massive number, but battery performance has become a concern for me. I use my Macbook as a desktop replacement, on the main. It's sitting on a mStand, connected to a large monitor on my desk. I use my Macbook to play games, surf the internet, do work and all that good stuff - basically, I use it for everything. I rarely use the Macbook without it being plugged in. I read on the Apple website that they do not recommend leaving the Macbook on charge permanently and that I should use it on battery at least one a month. As I use my Macbook as a desktop replacement, I don't actually have a lot of opportunity to do this.
My question to you, the community, is: is there a way of stopping the battery from charging, either with the use of an app or a physical device? Ideally, I would love to have my power plugged in BUT only used when the battery drops below 10%. Is this possible with an app?
On the other hand, am I just worrying about nothing? Will my battery be damaged further if I leave the Macbook charging permanently?
    Thanks for your help!
    Jeremy Reid

Ideally, I would love to have my power plugged in BUT only used when the battery drops below 10%. Is this possible with an app?
The charging characteristics are handled in firmware.  There is no app that would be able to do this.  You actually would not want to do this anyway.  Regularly discharging your battery to 10% will greatly decrease the life of your battery.  While it is true that you should not use your system exclusively plugged in, allowing it to run on battery a few hours a week should be fine.  Letting the battery regularly run down to (or below) 10% will cause you to use up cycles more quickly than is necessary (thereby reducing the life of your battery).  It's really a only a matter of disconnecting your Magsafe connector once in a while.
Leaving it plugged in does not result in it being charged "permanently".  It will charge until it is full and then charging will stop.  It will only begin recharging when it reaches about 95%.

  • Is there a way to stop the OS from switching to a newly opened app?  I would like to be able to continue what I'm doing while I wait for an app to launch and not get interrupted by a forced entry into the app.

Is there a way to stop the OS from switching to a newly opened app?  I would like to be able to continue what I'm doing while I wait for an app to launch and not get interrupted by a forced entry into the app.
As an example, I'm going to my email in safari, while I wait for it to load, I open an excel document, and the OS decides excel should be the front app, so I go back to safari so I can enter my login info, but halfway through my password the OS decides that excel is where I should finish typing my password.
VERY ANNOYING.  Can I open apps in the background?

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. J D, I'm not a terminal fan, but I'm sure it works.  I found a solution that I can use in the dock from another post.

Works great and allows me to maximize those multitasking minutes.

  • Sometimes after creating an event folder on iPhoto, all my pictures in that event will be gone the next time I open iPhoto. Why is this happening? Is there a way to retrieve the missing photos?

Sometimes after creating an event folder on iPhoto, all my pictures in that event will be gone the next time I open iPhoto. Why is this happening? Is there a way to retrieve the missing photos?
Most events I make on iphoto will still be there the next time I open iPhoto, while other event FOLDERS will be there, but pictures in it gone.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Is there a way to stop the mail icon from bouncing

Hi all.  Is there a way to stop the mail icon from bouncing on the dock when a new message is received?  It's irritating.  I'm running Lion.  Thanks.

Thank you Linc.  I knew that I did something in system preferences to cause it to bounce, but couldn't remember what I did.  I appreciate your help!  Kelly

  • Is there a way to stop the launching applications to come to foreground?

Is there a way to stop the launching applications to come to foreground?
Back with os 10.3 Panther or 10.4 Tiger the apps opened in the background. That was one of the good differences with Windows. I guess that 10.5 Leopard adopted this annoying Windows behavior. Hope it's gonna change with 10.7 Lion.
(Of course I am looking for another solution than the AppleScript/Terminal launch that can be found on Google. I'd rather have a plist option to change if it exists!)

I have found this page http://www.realsoftware.com/listarchives/realbasic-nug/2009-03/msg01167.html where it is proposed to add :
    <key>LSBackgroundOnly</key>
    <string>True</string>
    to MyApp.app/Contents/Info.plist
I tried this but the app launches totally hidden in the background. Plus you have to set this behavior for every app.
The open -g option works fine as expected.
Still looking for a system-wide option, but it doesn't seem to exist.
About the utility of such an option, I'll just remember you that some machine don't load apps very fast and, instead of waiting for an app to launch, the user will do something else until the app launches. You'll understand that waiting in front of a computer isn't acceptable and having a MBPro isn't possible for everyone.

  • Is there any way to stop the print screen from dropping down on top of the page to be printed.  Can the print screen be moved?

Is there a way to stop the print screen from dropping down on top of the page to be printed.  Can the print screen be moved?  When the print screen drops down, it covers the page and the info needed to create the file.  Thank you

You will find that this is application dependent.  Most Apple applications such as Safari and Mail will use the "sheet" type of dialog boxes that you are referring.  There is no way for the user to change that behavior.  Other, non-Apple, applications like Firefox use a "modal" dialog box for printing etc.  The modal boxes can be moved around so you can see the page behind.

  • Is there any way to stop the delay between different sets of speakers when using airport express?

Is there any way to stop the delay between different sets of speakers when using airport express?

Unfortunately, I don't have either a Slingbox or iHome speakers so I won't be able to reproduce any of the issues you are having. With the fact that you live in large apartment complex would still lead me to believe that Wi-Fi interference may be the reason that you are having streaming issues.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like iStumbler, or AirRadar to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible.

    Hey Rich,
It is true that you cannot add more than 250 plots to a 2d-axis graph in the REPORT.  One work around is to have the graphs stacked on top of each other and plot 250 to one graph and 250 more to another graph.  I am including a TDR (you have to unzip it) file that has 12 2d-axis stacked on top of each other.  Most of the properties have been made invisible through the graph properties.  You can still see the legends however.  One caveat to this is that you will have issues accessing the different graphs.  You have to do it from a VBScript.  The following line of code worked for me:
    Call GraphObjOpen("2DAxis" + Str(NewAxis))
Where NewAxis is a variable that defines which graph I want to look at.  You would of course have to loop through the graphs as you add data.
    Cheers,

Is there a way to change the master text length in FCP? The default length is 10 seconds, which is too long. I can easily adjust the length but I don't want to do it each time, and I don't want to adjust a text clip and then have to copy and paste this each time. Ideally, there should be something in User Preferences but there is not. Thanks.

Maybe some one else can pipe up with a solution, but this would literally take 2 seconds to do for a new project.  And you can create a "template project" that includes this "text" clip.  Save this project and then to a get info and check "stationary pad."  When you double click on this file, fcp will open with a copy of this project and you just need to do a save as.
I've been working with computer editing systems for longer than i can remember and at a certain point you just have to adapt your workflow to the limitations of the software.

I accidentally deleted part of an iphone (4s) note. Is there a way to restore the deleted text? I learned too late about being able to shake the iphone in order to undo my action, so is there any other way?

Restoring a phone from a backup will put the device back to the state it was when the backup took place, i.e. all info that you had on that phone before using the backup will be gone.
You could try to restore the phone, which will back up the actual data on the phone, including the passcode, and use this backup to set up a new phone with. The passcode will still be the same, because it is  part of the backup.
More info here, iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
Not being able to fill in the passcode is not much different from forgetting it.
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

Yes, you could Restore your iPhone from your backup on iCloud and get the text. Any texting, or other items, you did between the backup and the Restore would be lost.
