Is there a way to tell when the trash bin in iPhoto was emptied?

I am a teacher. I lost some very important photos and was under the impression that one of my students deleted them because she was mad at me. I was confused about how she did this because the main trash bin was still completely full. I didn't think until I got home about the trash bin in iPhoto. After a couple of tests, I think this is probably how she deleted the (since-recovered) photos.
My question is, am I able to tell when photos were deleted from iPhoto?

None that I know of.

  • HT201317 Is there a way to tell when a photo in your photo stream was taken?

Is there a way to tell when a photo was added to photo stream. How do photos appear on photo stream? Are they downloaded from my iPhone when I save a picture that was texted to me? Do they then go right into my photo stream?

Photos added to camera roll are added to your photo stream (when the camera app is closed, you are connected to wifi and you have at least 20% battery life remaining).  When you save a photo from a text message it is saved to your camera roll, and is therefore also added to your photo stream.  You can't, however, tell when such a photo was added.

When I try to delete the trash bin from iphoto the program freezes. The only way to get out is to hold the on/off button down shut the computer off. Can anyone tell me what to do to fix this?

  • Is there a way to tell when an app was added to login items?

Is there a way to tell the exact date when an app was added to login items? (eg. through terminal or console?).
    TIA

No. Login items are created when you add an app through
     > System Prefs > Users & Groups | Login Items
and is a list specifically used for running and app on login to a particular users account (not boot in general). At least AFAIK, this has nothing to do with installing the app to the system.

  • Can't empty the trash bin of iphoto elements

    Hi,
i can't empty the trash bin. When trying, i use it in "secured mode"
Full of 2500 elements coming from iphoto elements.
    how:
when i request to empty, Mac tells me that some elements are "locked" but i request to empty all elements.
Then the window the progress bar appears ... processing for a second then disappears almost instantly and the bin remains full.

Try holding down the option button while trying to delete the Trash. If that doesn’t work, here is some more information.

  • Is there a way to tell when an iphone 3g was manufactured?

I'm on my third iphone. The first two had various hardware problems. The newest one is working fairly well...except that it says 'no service' at times when I switch over to 3G. Like the other two phones...they all work great for the first few days and then start to experience problems...especially during a call lasting more than 5 minutes.
But here's the problem: the last iphone I received as a replacement looks, well...used. The one I'm sending back is in better overall shape.
I was wondering if there was a way to check to see when this latest iphone was manufactured? I would like to know if I'm getting a recycled phone...or at the very least if it was built before or after the one I'm returning.
Thanks in advance for your help.

the 4-5th digits of the serial number indicate week of production
ie 82327 = week 27 of the year.

  • Is there a way to see when the internet connection is active?

I would like to know when my iMac is communicating on the internet connection and have a way to observe that.  It's not clear by looking at my DSL modem lights.  Does anyone know of a program I can use that will show that clearly?  It would be nice to get a freeware or shareware if one is out there...
    Thanks

Your mac already has built in utilities for that.
    1. Hold down the 'option' key while you click on the wifi icon in the menubar and you'll see the last item in the menulist is 'Open Wifi Diagnostics'.
Click on it. When the app opens, ignore the dialogue and 'Continue' button and instead on your keyboard hit 'Command-N'.
You'll now get a diagnostic panel with various tabs that will give you detailed info about wifi connections.
    2. Open Spotlight and type 'Network Utility'. Hit 'return' to open the app. Examine the various tabs for detailed infomation about net stats.
    3. Also don't forget that in System Preferences > Network will give you a lot of information. Click the padlock and enter an admin password, then play around with the 'Advanced' and the 'Assist Me...Diagnostics' buttons. The latter is particularly useful to see exactly where your connection is failing (computer, router, ISP).

  • Is there a way to tell if the date on a picture in iPhoto is from actual metadata vs just the date it was imported to the program?

I have many photos in iPhoto whose dates I know to be wrong and many appear to be the date I moved them all to a new Mac. I photos in question, I think, were originally on a PC and in Picassa. If it was taken before metadata was embedded, I suppose I can just guess and change the dates on the photos however, if iPhoto just applied the date of the transfer to the Mac, perhaps there is accurate metadata somewhere that I could retreive. How can I tell where iPhoto is getting its dates for pictures?
    Thanks,

If the Exif metadata is intact, then iPhoto gets the date from there. If it's not, then iPhoto gets the file date.
So, if iPhoto is showing you the date of import there is no Exif intact.

  • Using the warp tool I'm stabilizing  my video and getting rid of the edge artifacts. Analyizing is clear on how long the process will take, but when it stabilizes I only get three moving dots. I there a way to know when the process will stop? Thanks.

I am using the warp tool to stabilize my video and get rid of the edge artifacts.  The program is very clear about how long it will take to analyze, but there is nothing about how long the stabilization will take nor when I know when it is complete.   Thanks ahead of time.

Warp Stabilising is a two part process.
    Analysis and Stabilising.
Both have a banner across the Program Monitor during the process ( unless you have turned that off.
Analysis start automatically on forst application...but you can rock in there and start adjusting the parameters.
You may need to hit "Analyse" Button again.
You should see the number of frames and the estimated duration during this process.

  • How to tell when the interface is down and was last active.

Is there a function within Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 (2.0.0.0.294) that will display the last time that an interface was active? Our end switch hardware is as follows C2960s-48fps and C3750-48PS-S.
See below for command and command output from the console of one of our switches.
    C2960s-48fps#show int gi1/0/6 | include Last | proto
GigabitEthernet1/0/6 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)
Last input never, output 1w6d, output hang never
Above is an example of one interface but can this be accomplished for all interfaces on the said switch?
    Thanks
Message was edited by: Bobby Sasser The following is the response that Cisco TAC sent. Not happy with this answer! Unfortunately , Prime doesn’t collect those precise information. So apparently you won’t be able to poll that information from the device.

You have not posted to code for Stopper, so it's impossible to reason about that
    1. How can I tell when thread is finished?
    Use Thread.Join() or Thread.isAlive()
    2. How do I kill this thread once it is finished?
You can't and you don't. Just let the method the thread is running exit normally. Sometimes that means putting in a boolean variable to control a loop, and then exiting when the boolean is false.
Another thought - you could set the thread as a Daemon thread - when you don't have any non-daemon threads running, java will exit.

  • Is there a way I can lock the Trash on a User's account?

An elderly friend suffers from dementia and it is more and more difficult to keep his computer working.
In confusion, he will for no apparent reason, drag an application into the Trash, then empty the Trash.
I have now set up his computer so he is a Standard User and I am the Administrator. This allowed me to put Parental Controls on his account so he can no longer alter or move applications to the trash. I can see no way, however, of preventing him from moving files or folders ito the Trash.
Since the OS does seem to have a way to accomplish this, is there any 3rd-party software which will?

There are several third-party utilities that provide greater control over and add features to Trash. Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Additionally there are some utilities that provide some other useful features you may wish to examine: Hazel and Automaton.

  • I have 1 contact with 2 different phone numbers. Is there a way to tell in the messaging app which number is which?

In the message thread, I can scroll all the way up to click on contact and see which number it is. I was hoping that there was a quicker way, like the contact name with the phone label displayed too.

    Lucia:
Unfortunately the photo titles are sorted alphanumerically and that's why you get 1, 11, 12, etc. What you need to do is pad zeros before the number, i.e. 001.jpg, etc. for up to 100 photos or 0001.jpg for up to 1000 photos in one group. That's how the Finder sorts them also unless you select by date or one of the other options.
You can put them in an album, sorted manually and arrange them in the order you want. Then select all and use the Photos->Batch Change to give them new titles of your choice with an incremental number afterward. The will be titles "your title-01.jpg" if less than 100 or "your title-001.jpg" if less than 1000. However the original file names will not be changed and can only be changed by exporting out of iPhoto with the option to use the title as the new file name.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Is there any way to tell when a task has a lock

Normally I can just keep track of it. But upon an external termination I can get into problems. If I don't release a lock, well it stays locked. If I release it and don't have it I get a run time error. But I can't find a way to ask a lock if I have it.

    ChasGI,
Unfortunately, there is not a way to query a lock to determine what/who posseses it.
The Get Status lock operation returns the Number of Threads Waiting to Lock the Lock. You could get creative with that.

  • Is there a way to tell itunes the location of an iphone backup?

the backup i want is in the correct folder but itunes won't recognise it.

OK one way is to simply change the location in iTunes preferences under "iTunes Music folder location" from the current external to the new external. Then use the consolidate command and iTunes will copy everything to the new external AND change the links in iTunes to point to the new location.
    Cheers,
