Is there a way to transfer address book GROUPS via iSync?

I've trying to transfer my address book entries to my Nokia phone via iSync.
They are nicely grouped on my Mac (after much manual labor), but do NOT show up grouped on my Nokia 6085.
I tried creating a category on the Nokia corresponding to one on my address book but that didn't work either!
Any workarounds? It's a nuisance on the Nokia to have to categorize each entry manually, one at a time!

This worked for me:  On your Mac, open Address Book.  The "All Contacts" page should be on the left, which shows groupings for "On My Mac" and "iCloud".  If this page doesn't display on the left, click on the red "bookmark" at the top of the page to bring up the "All Contacts" page.
You should be able to drag the groups showing under "iCloud" and drop them into "All on My Mac" under "On My Mac."
If you no longer want to see the "iCloud" contacts in your Mac Address Book, go to Address Book Preferences, then click on "Accounts", then click on the "iCloud" account, and then uncheck the box titled "Enable this account."

  • Is there a way to download Address Book Contacts in a .cvs file?

I'm trying to import my contacts into a fundraising site to raise money for charity, I have over 300 contacts so doing it manually is out of the questions.  Is there an easy way to download Address Book Contacts in a .cvs file?  That's the only kind accepted.

    No.
Export to vCard and Google for one of the many vCard to .csv converters.
When you search for it please use .csv instead of cvs, cvs is a drug store.
Here's a free online converter that works well.

  • Is there a way to sync address books?

I have the address book for our company on a server. I would like to synchronise the address books in both directions.
Is this possible? Any tips as to how to do this? Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks

Mapping solves the problem. Groupwise has no corresponding field for "Direct Connect". For ease of data entry, I mapped the Direct Connect field in my 8350i with the pager field in my groupwise address books. The BB desktop manager now syncs the nextel direct connect #'s.
    The steps are:
In BB desk top manager, select Sync Configuration; address book; advanced; Field Mapping (at bottom of list). Map an unused field in the GW address book with the direct connect field in the 8350i.
I assumethis would also work with outlook and others.

  • Is there any way to transfer my books on iBooks to my laptop (Windows)?

I have looked around the support forum but there is nothing I could find, except for referrals to external softwares. Would they be safe though? Can it be done through iTunes?

Yes, it would be the "transfer purchases" for content purchased from the iTunes Store, though the sync process normally would work.  Note that while you can transfer iBooks to your computer for backup or syncing to another iOS device, you cannot read those books on your computer.
I downloaded books and papers from sites such as bookfi etc, not from itunes so the transfer purchases doesnt seem to work.
That won't happen via the normal sync. You'll need to ask the developer of the app you use for those downloads what process they have for transferring content to a computer.
    Regards.

  • Address Book vCards via Bluetooth to Samsung a900 "Blade" cell phone

I'm able to export Address Book contacts as vCards and then import them into one of the new Samsung a900 "Blade" Sprint phones using Bluetooth, but with a couple of vexing problems.
    1. I should clarify that I can import vCards into the new "Blade" cell phone from Address Book via Bluetooth, but only by dragging one card at a time, a very tedious process. Unfortunately, no data transfer occurs if I select multiple cards and drag them all at the same time. I'm using OS X (v10.4.2). Perhaps v10.4.4 and/or a more current AddressBook update will make a difference, or perhaps the problems are solely at the Samsung end...
After activating the paired phone and then launching Apple's Bluetooth File Transfer Utility, I'm dragging the vCards onto the OS X dock icon...
But before I do this, the "No Name" problem is forcing me to manually enter the Company Name into Address Book's last name field for every card that has no personal first/last name. Again, this is necessary just to get the Samsung a900's internal phone book to display something useful for these records (besides listing each record as "No name").
    2. When the phone software sees an entry with a Company Name only (but no First/Last Name entered), it goes brain dead and lists each entry as "No Name" instead of ignoring the empty Name fields and simply listing the Company Name. This is an age-old problem with dumb cell phone software (my previous Sanyo phone did this too). Unfortunately, Address Book exporting is useless without fixing this...Is there a way to get Address Book to format exported vCards to compensate for this shortcoming in the Phone interface?
More info on this phone and Macs is posted on an a900-Mac thread in the Samsung discussion at www.sprintusers.com. The "Blade" is Samsung's new model that copies the look-and-feel of the popular Motorola RAZR, and it is a very nice, if not entirely original, design, and a very hot phone at Sprint right now. It does have a few bugs, but some already have been addressed with a firmware update from Samsung. It's only been out since late November or early December of 2005.
I also cross-posted these questions in the Address Book and Mail forum...

All metioned problems are Samsung's fault. Blame them.
I've been assuming it was a Samsung problem, and have posted help requests in cell phone forums that Samsung engineers and/or support allegedly reads. I was hoping there might be some way to automate a workaround from the computer end...
Now, if Address Book had an option to define the fields that are to be exported or perhaps automatically sub Company Names for last names the problem would be solved when exporting for cell phones. I can't belive no one has ever encountered this before -- it has been a problem with every cell phone I have ever owned.

  • ISync only certain Address Book Groups ... ?

Is there any way to synchronize only certain address book groups using iSync?
Right now, you have to either sync ALL contacts or only ONE group ....
I would prefer not to have to drag contacts into one new group everytime I add somebody new ....
Either have this feature or maybe one that recognizes Smart Groups ?
Or maybe I'm missing a button or preference that can make this happen? :P
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK but that not work fine...
After sync the phone with the Address Book group named TESTGRP I run these steps:
    1) remove a contact from the TESTGRP group (remove only not delete the contact)
    2) sync the phone too
    3) on my phone the removed contact is already present

  • ITunes' iPod preference missing Address Book Groups

Just got an iPod Touch. When I first synced the ipod all of the contacts were from my Entourage account. I wanted them from Address Book. When I go in iTunes, under "Devices" and get the preferences for the iPod, I look under the "contacts" section. There are none of my Address book "groups" to select from. iTunes is not recognizing my Address book.
    How do I fix this?

The Mac specialist over the phone said that my iPod was malfunctioned and needed to be sent in. It ends up that the iPod touch has a few limitations that other iPods I've owned do not have. While my 80 gig video ipod would show all my groups, the iPod touch would not. After about two days of playing around I found out that once I eliminated some of my groups they appeared in iTunes preferences. I don't have an exacts count but I think more then 15 groups is too much for iTunes.
    Problem solved.

Is there a way to transfer my Comcast email adress book to my iPhone 4s?

If Comcast does not provide an option to sync your Comcast online contacts with an address book app on your computer, they should provide an option for exporting the contacts to be imported by an address book app on your computer that supports syncing contacts with the iPhone.

I have 2 apple id's with different apps and data saved under each.  It's very annoying so now I want to create a new id with my primary email address I use now.  If I do that is there any way to transfer all my saved apps and app data like game saves etc so I don't lose all of that information and can easily switch to a singular apple id?

Apple does not transfer content bought with one Apple ID to another Apple ID. Apple will not merge two Apple IDs.
If most of your content was bought with the Yahoo! Apple ID but you now want the Gmail address for your Apple ID, the trick will be to change the address used for the Yahoo ID with the Gmail address. However, to do that you must first free the Gmail address from that other Apple ID. Use the instructions from Apple to substitute another address that is not used as an Apple ID for your Gmail address in the Apple ID with the Gmail address. Then, when the Gmail address is no longer used in an Apple ID, you can use the same instructions to substitute the Gmail address for the Yahoo address in the Apple ID with the Yahoo address.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

I need to get files off of my damaged Macbook and I'm not sure how to do it. Is there a way to transfer files from my macbook to another computer? The damage is to the screen of my macbook and it is severe- you can only see the top left of screen, the rest is cracked/blacked out. Is there anything I can do?

If the MacBook has a FireWire port, hook it and the other computer up with a FireWire cable, start up the MacBook with the T key held down, and copy the files off.

  • Transfer address book to second IPhone

My wife and I both have Iphones and I want to transfer my address book to her phone. Can I conect my Iphone to her computer? or is their another way?

I hesitate to ask, but are you both on Macs? If so, are you both subscribed to .Mac service? If so, your solution is quite easy. You need one computer to share a 'group' of their address book (your wife's contacts that you want on your phone or vice-versa), and on the second computer, subscribe to that group in the address book. That way, whenever you or your wife makes a change to that address book group, it will be reflected on the other computer on the next sync to .Mac...then just plug in your iPhones to their respective computers, make sure all the contact groups on the iPhone sync screen are selected, and you should be good to go.
If the above solution is unavailable (no Macs or no .Mac service), there is a third party solution (I am not sure of the rules on discussing this here). With a little Google snooping on syncing your iPhone with two computers, you should be able to figure it out.

  • How to transfer Address Book 10.4 to Contacts 10.8?

I recently upgraded from a prehistoric iBook G4 running 10.4.11 to a MacBook Pro Retina running 10.8.2.  Is there any way to transfer my old Address Book data into the new Contacts application that replaced Address Book?  I have over 500 cards, many with ample notes I definitely want to keep.  It would take me the rest of the year to re-key all this information.  Ouch!
I've already tried exporting vCards and all the cards and phone numbers show up in Contacts 10.8.2, but all the notes at the bottom of each card are missing! AppleCare tells me that 10.4 to 10.8 is too big of a jump.  They also say that 10.7 was the last OS to use Address Book.  What if I find a mac with 10.7, drag my old address book into that library, and export a 10.7 version of vCards?  Or is there an easier way?
Surely Apple provided a clean way to convert Address Book to Contacts???

Problem solved.  The solution was breathtakingly simple.  And none of the experts had a clue...
After spending untold mindnumbing hours with AppleCare's Level 1 techs and Sr. Advisors, I consulted a real "senior" advisor: my own dad.
Dad (turning 79 this summer) happens to use a MacBook Pro and likes to research things. After getting an earful of my woes and snooping around a bit on his own, dad asked me if I had checked the appropriate box in OS 10.4's Address Book preferences. Huh?
In Preferences, vCards, there's an "Export notes in vCards" box. For some dumb reason this is unchecked as the default. I checked it, exported the vCards and voila, all 500+ cards with all the notes intact imported without a hitch into Mountain Lion.
I can't fathom why no one at AppleCare knew about this (the notes/no notes default is basically the same in 10.8, so "we no longer support 10.4" is a lame excuse). They wasted my time with failed target disk migrations, root user transfer, and using my father's computer as an OS stepping stone, none of which worked, of course, since the crucial default hadn't been touched.
Lesson learned: Before you put your faith in "experts," ask dad...

Theft by finding - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    From that link:
"The finder of lost property acquires a possessory right by taking physical control of the property, but does not necessarily have ownership of the property. The finder must take reasonable steps to locate the owner. If the finder shows that reasonable steps to find the owner have been taken then the finder may establish that the required mens rea for theft, the intention to deprive the owner permanently, is absent."
One could argue that leaving an item in the 'Lost and Found' box for 30 days meets that requirement.  I'm not saying that I beleive that- there are certainly additional things that could be done without much effort, such as checking in settings for their appleid/email address, etc.  But one could make that argument.
In any case, there's no way to get that music off.
I disagree about the 'Lost & Found' box in this situation.  We're not talking about an article of clothing.  There are most likely ways to identify a manner in which to contact the owner (such as the email address that shows in multiple locations on the device, or that pops up when you try to access iTunes or App store.
It's like finding a wallet, but not looking at the address on the driver license to make any attempt to contact the owner.  It's easy to find a way to contact the owner in both scenarios.
This is simply someone that is looking to get something for free, and 'cheat' the system.
I guarantee you that if this guy lost his iPhone, he'd be ranting up a storm that whoever found it hasn't tried to contact them.
