Is there a way to undo or restore previous device software?

Hi All,
I just updated the device software on my blackberry and the device seems to run much slower than previously!  Is there any way to undo all the changes that were made to the system software and apps?
I installed the apps using IE from off the web..... the loader told me that things would be backed-up.  Using the Desktop software doesn't seem to work - the old backup file I have only restores data (addresses, etc) but not the system apps.
Yikes.  After playing around with the new device software, I'm fairly unimpressed - applications take up more screen real-estate (i.e. more scrolling) - especially in the calendar - and the device works more slowly (that little hourglass thing takes forever!).
Please help!

  • Is there a way to undo an iPod touch restore from an iPhone 5?

I was synching my new iPhone 5 to my Macbook Pro when I accidentally restored it to my old iPod touch instead of starting new at the welcome screen. Is there a way to undo the restore to get it back to the iPhone 5 format instead of the iPod touch one? I've already managed to get my contacts back but can't figure out how to undo back to the iPhone 5 "factory settings" without getting rid of the couple of purchased apps etc. Feeling like SUCH a newbie! Help!

Yes, restoring deletes everthing on the iPhone. You will then have to resync the apps from iTunes on your computer, or re-download them from the iTunes Store:

  • Is there any way of undoing a shuffle? The CDs I downloaded to iTunes have all been shuffled. As most of these are classical, it is inappropriate to have them separated into songs that play any old time. Can I restore them to the original albums?

Is there any way of undoing a shuffle? The CDs I downloaded to iTunes have all been shuffled into individual 'songs'. As most of these are classical and folk, it is inappropriate to have them separated into songs that play any old time (ie, a movement from Beethoven's 5th symphony followed by a folk song followed by one excerpt from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, etc. Can I restore them all to the original albums and make sure the shuffle doesn't happen again?
    Thanks!

Thanks! That has worked, but only partially - there are still some Beethovens mixed in with the Vivaldis. I'm sure I installed these as total albums.
I have noticed that too from time to time, I generally move the files into the correct folder and fix the index in itunes when one won't open, occasionally.

  • HT3275 I recently used my time capsule to restore my old macbook onto my new macbook pro.  Is there a way to undo this?

I recieved a new MacBook Pro for Christmas, and my Fiance purchased the new Microsoft office along with a few other things.  This morning, I did a time capsule restore to get my documents and photos from my old Macbook, but I apparently did a full restore instead and ended up losing everything that was loaded onto my new computer in the process.  Is there any way to undo a time capsule restore?

Did you do a backup of the new MBP before you restored? If not there is really no way to go backwards.. although you might find your old setup is still there.. create a new user, with full admin rights.. and then log out and log back in again.. if the new software has disappeared then the restore has completely overwritten the existing files.. you will need to start over.. fresh clean install of the OS and start again.
Read carefully on how to migrate settings and data here.

It does not cover Mavericks but Mountain Lion is similar enough. Sadly the guy who wrote all these excellent guides died earlier this year.

  • I plugged in my phone into my mac and i clicked restore by accident, and it now has all of the things from my old phone. is there a way to undo everything?

I plugged my phone into my Mac which i have never synced before and it restored ALL of my old things from my old phone. is there a way to undo everything?

iPods do not work with "accounts."  They work with your iTunes library.  You don't have to set up a new iTunes library for each iPod.  One iTunes library can sync with as many iPods, iPhones, and iPads as your own, at the same time.  iTunes connects to and treats each device separately.
However, if your iPod nano is set up for automatic syncing with an iTunes library that is NOT your current iTunes library, you cannot sync your current library to it without replacing its existing content.  Do you have access to the previous iTunes library, the one the iPod currently synced to?  If so, you should transfer your song files from that iTunes library to your current iTunes library.  Then, sync our iPod to your current iTunes library.  You can post back to get more info about the procedure.
If you don't have access to that previous iTunes library, the approach is to first offload the song files from the iPod to your computer's drive, then add the song files to your current iTunes library.
You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
You can then sync your iPod to your "consolidated" iTunes library.

  • Is there a way to undo a factory setting reset?

I recently reset my iphone back to factory settings by accident when updating to the latest ios8 and I lost all of my text message history. Is there a way to undo reset or uncover my text messages?

If you've ever backed up your device you can restore your phone from that backup....but data will only be from the date of that backup. Let's say you backed up your device in September. Accidentally erased it in November. If you restore it from that backup it'll look like it did in september, but any and all data put on it between september and November will be gone.

  • TS4006 is there a way to undo the "Erase" command before the deletion starts?

is there a way to undo the "Erase" command before the deletion starts while the phone is turned off.  In my case the erase is pending the phone being turned on.  Now that I have found the phone, I don't want the deletion to happen.  How can I undo the command before turning on the iPhone?

There's no way to block the remote wipe.  But once it's been wiped, you can perform a restore from your backup on either icloud or itunes.

Help please I can't save any documents now! Thanks in advance all, it is truly appreciated. how can find the hidden temporary files using the terminal what do i type in?

It's more likely a failed Erase Free Space, which creates a huge temporary file; that's why it looks like you have no more available drive space. You can recover from this. See these links

Only if a backup of the iPhone with all that data on it exists.  If one does, restore the iPhone using that backup.

  • Is there a way to undo the last itunes update? itunes will not now recognise my ipod nano

I recently installed the itunes update to 11.3 and my ipod nano (gen 7) is no longer recognised in itunes. Is there a way to undo the update or is itunes issuing a fix for it. the message board indicate I'm far from alone with this problem!

    Hi princecaspian22,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand how frustrating it can be for your device to not be recognized in iTunes. There may be a few steps to take to help isolate the issue and get this resolved. I suggest following the steps in the following article to help you through the process.

  • I put parent control on my sons apps so he cant download 17  apps, but I just found out if he restores his phone in itunes he can download an app then go back and back it up. Is there a way I can black restore on Itunes?

I put Parents Control on my sons apps so he cant download 17+ apps, but I just found out if he goes on itunes he can restore his phone to orginal settings which wont have parent control on it. Then when ever he wants he cant backup his phone so it looks like nothing ever happened. Is there a way I can bloack restore on itunes?

You can't block restoring in iTunes, but any restrictions you put on the phone are included in the iPhone backup, thus if your son restores from backup, he will restore any restrictions you put on the phone. His only choice, to completely remove restrictions, is to restore as a new device. You can also set parental controls in iTunes: iTunes>Preferences>Parental.

  • I accidentally hit "back-up" rather than "restore backup" when I got my new iPhone. Is there any way I can get a previous backup? or is everything gone forever?

I cracked my screen recently so I went in to the store to get a new one. Everything was going great until I hit the wrong button and now everything is lost. Is there any way I can get a previous iCloud backup on my phone?

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup.  If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup.  You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone.  However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

  • HT1444 Is there a way to undo an update and go back to prior version?

Is there a way to undo an update and go back to a previous version? I installed the latest version of 10.7.4 (?) on my iPhone (4s) but I hate it. I was warned by another user not to update. She said I would regret it. I should've listened.
1)The Icons are lighter in color with tiny print on them - resembling a bunch of light colored boxes without meaning.
    2) I used to be able to double-click the home button, press-and-hold a running icon at the bottom and deselect all that were running to prolong my battery life, but I can't figure out how to do that now.
I am reluctant to update my iPad now. I think I will readjust my settings to make the updates "hidden".

Unfortunately there isn't a downgrade path. However, to improve legibility go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn 'Larger Type' on and make adjustments there. Also you can turn the 'Bold Text' option on.
To close down apps, double-tap the Home button as before and any open apps will appear as a reduced sized window of the app. Stroke that window 'up' and the app will close down.

Re: Notes App. I opened Notes, then opened a particular note. It opened briefly, and then suddenly several notes, from the past two weeks, just disappeared. Is this a known glitch, and is there any way to retrieve or restore these lost notes?

The other day i deleted my email accounts off of my ipod and only reloaded a few of them. today i looked at my notes to look at a project i had typed on my notes because i didnt have paper and pen around to write it and i didnt want to froget. I reloaded the rest of my emails in hope that everything would reappear but sadly only some of them from 2010 loaded. Recently i had update some of the files and they were like they were when i first created them there were alos ones that i had deleted long ago. There are other notes i had made that were really important to me to andi wouldn't be able to remember every single one. Help Please!

  • Is there a way to undo MMPV period closing?

    Dear gurus,
One of our user's tried to open March period from "mmpv" and he opened April period either by mistake. Now the current period is April and the previous is March. He has to do some reversals for February, naturally he can't.
Is there a way to undo what he had done from mmpv?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Flitz
Pl be careful of using MMPV again.
You can use MMPI to correct your situation. I would suggest it, if this is a test or dev or sandbox.
In production system, you have to be extremely careful.
Check if you have done any goods postings into April period. if not, it's ok.
Read the documentation in this Txn (click 'i' button), understand and decide
    Best regards
    Ramki
