That is an iPad 2, which can be upgraded to iOS 8.3.
If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade, paying particular attention to the "Update your device using iTunes" section near the bottom.

Information regarding transferring purchases from your iDevice to iTunes on your syncing computer can be found at the link below.

Is there a way to update 1st gen iPad past 5.1.1?

Yes but if I just wanted to get on the Internet I could have just bought a cheap tablet I can throw away when nothing works but Internet access. Wont b long and all the apps will b outdated. And it slower going through safari to access my outdated apps and not near as convenient. I was going to get an iPad air but I figure it will b almost useless in two or three years.

  • HT201471 Is there another way to see what model iPad I have without prying it out of the case?

it seem to get an answer to my question, I must know the model of my iPad.  My iPad is encased in a protective unit that Sampson couldn't break and one  that I can't figure out how to remove. - and the Apple (so called) "support" site only gives pretty pictures for me to compare to my iPad.  And I'm supposed to conduct this comparison of pictures on the screen to the back of my iPad (that needs to be turned upside down!!!). And just how am I supposed to see the screen with the iPad turned over?!?  WAY TO GO, APPLE!  Surely there is a better way to find the model Information!   If one looks in Settings, one finds Everything about the iPad -Except the model!  Aargh!  Does Anyone know of a better way to discover the iPad model?

FROM Chrley's Mom (because I dont know how to "post back" as one responder requested  OK!  I found it!  Now, why didn't the Apple "support" site say that?!?  Why wasn't it on the Apple "support" site Instead of those idiot pictures.  Does Apple think we have lost the ability to read and need "picto-nary" instructions?!?   Aargh!
NOW, you folk have been very helpful, so maybe you can help me with the original reason I went to Apple "support". ( I hope I'm not in the wrong "pew" for these there questions).
i updated my iPad and three things happened;  a blank gray panel now covers 1/3 of my iPad screen in the landscape view; I lost all my site Bookmarks and everything on my Reading List!  So,
1). How do I get rid of that empty gray panel?  It covers over whatever is showing in the landscape view but disappears in the portrait view.  And it only appears when I'm using Safari to view the Internet.
2). is there a way I can retrieve my site Bookmarks?
3). and my Reading List?  (No, the iPad isn't synced to a Mac - because I don't use a Mac)

It depends which generation of iPod Touch you have.
The 2nd generation Touch can only use iOS 4.2.1 as the latest version. You can identify the 2nd gen Touch from the model number etched into the back of the case, it's A1288.
The 3rd gen Touch (and above) can install iOS 5. The 3rd gen Touch has model number A1318 etched into the back of the case.
(The 4th gen has a camera, front and back.)

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

You do realise that you can add Ram, if that is all that is holding you back it's not a problem.
Tell me the exact model and age of your Mac. (The model identifier can be found by holding the option key down and clicking on the Apple Menu, select System Information (top entry) and then read the model identifier from the righthand panel (2nd entry down)

  • Is there a way to update the iOS on my Childs iPod touch without connecting to a pc? She has version 4.2.1

Is there a way to update the iOS on my Childs iPod touch without connecting to a pc? She has version 4.2.1

    No.
Also, do you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Is there a way to update an external dictionary for services without migrating the services

Is there a way to update an external dictionary for services without migrating the services
Is there a way to update a common external dictionary used by many services without migrating each and every service that uses the dictionary.  I have updated the table in the database and the external dictionary in our Development Environment. The external dictionary is used by many services. When I migrate the changed service to TEST/STAGE/PROD environments (NOTE: the table has been updated in the TEST/STAGE/PROD Databases), only the changed service is having the external dictionary updated. All other services that use the same external dictionary are NOT updated. I have the following questions
Is it possible to migrate dictionaries so that all the services which are using that dictionary are updated?
If the first one is not possible, Is there any other way to update the external dictionary without migrating all the services that use dictionary?

dont think so but I could be wrong
as it were I didn't like the build in audio so I connected some external logictech 2.1 speakers  but there
are times when I use headset so I bought this one
or any minijack splitter will work too so I have 2 things connected to the headset port works just fine

  • I'm trying to upate my mother in-law iPad2 to ios 5 from the same win. pc that my iPhone 4 is connected.  I don't want to transfer her purchase items, photos, ... to my library.  Is there a way to update without loosing anything on the iPad?

    Warning message says :
There are purchased items on the iPad "Joce's iPad" that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPad. Are you sure you want to continue?
Since I don't want her stuff on my pc, is there a way to update and not loose anything on the iPad?
    Thank you

  • Is there a way to specify MVC model in a Wizard?

I am fairly new to JDeveloper so forgive me if I ask a stupid question....
In a past web project I used IBM Websphere and Visual Age developing environments. For an upcoming project I am going to be using JDeveloper but with the same basic MVC architecture with the Servlets being the Controllers and JSP as the View. In Websphere there was a wizard that we could use to create a Java Bean based on our SQL statement. Within this wizard we could also select what 'model' we wanted to use and if we chose 'Servlet model' it would not only create the Java Bean but it would also crate the corresponding Servlet, XML file and JSP. All we had to do after that was bring up the JSP in the test environment and everything was hooked together already. If it was a simple select statement then the JSP displayed the results in a table. The JSP could then be facncied up or whatever. What I want to know is if there is something similar to that in JDeveloper. I know there are wizards to create Servlets and JSPs but is there any way to specifiy a 'model' and have everything to connected up without manually going into the code and doing it? I know this is kinda cheating and being lazy but I just wanted to ask if this type of feature existed before going ahead and doing unneccessary work. So if anyone can follow what I am saying and has an answer or perhaps can direct me to some documentation, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
    Janis

    Janis,
JDeveloper ships with a handy, built-in J2EE application framework called Business Components for Java that provides a full-functionality J2EE MVC model layer for you.
You can get a nice overview of the framework's functionality from this whitepaper:
Simplify J2EE Applications with the Oracle BC4J Framework
For a quick overview of how the BC4J framework components implement the familiar collections of value objects design pattern for you, see:
Implement Collections of Value Objects for MVC Apps with BC4J
To answer your question about the wizards, you can (in no time flat)
    [list]
[*]Create a new connection in the System Navigator
[*]Create a new package of BC4J framework components ("New Business Components Package...")
[*]On the last panel of the BC4J package wizard, you can select existing tables to reverse-engineer into framework data-access and business logic components (view objects and entity objects, respectively)
[*]Then, you can use one of our other wizards to produce, for example, a BC4J+Struts application, a BC4J+JSP application, or a BC4J+JClient/Swing (rich client) application
    [list]
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to update all snapshots in a tree?

    Hi all,
I'm running Server 2012 R2 and have a VM with about a dozen snapshots under the main "clean" snapshot.  The problem I'm running into is that when I do a monthly check of updates, I have to update each individual snapshot with the new updates.
With a dozen snapshots its annoying more than a real problem, but I'm about to add several more VMs each with the same amount of snapshots and once I do it would go from annoying to intolerable, it would be just to time consuming.
Is there a way to update the base image and have changes to the base image populate down to all the snapshots in the tree below it?
    Thanks!!

Thanks a lot, but no that's not what I was looking for.  Here's the scenario - I have a base image lets say it's called CP1 and from that base image I make changes and create a new checkpoint, call that CP2.  From CP2 I make some other
changes and make another checkpoint call that CP3, etc. creating a checkpoint tree.
The problem I run into is that when Microsoft rolls out updates our IT dept bundles them all up and forces all domain joined systems to update with them monthly.  As you can imagine this causes some issues with the user community who is using them.
Since each checkpoint is discreet as  mentioned in the article you referenced, I have to manually update each checkpoint with the updates, major pain to say the least.  I was hoping there was a process that would allow me to update the base
image (CP1) and then be able to have those changes made to CP1 be forced onto CP2, CP3, etc.
    Vielen Dank! :)
