When you restore the iPod from backup as the article says the iPod will also be updated

After updating to iOS 6 my iPod Touch 4th.Gen is virtually unusable ... does anyone know how to sue Apple since they gave no warning about iOS 6 being for iPad optimisation and a killer for iPods ?  Before I throw away my iPod Touch does anyone know if Apple intends to rectify their obnoxious disregard for iPod users by issuing another 'upgrade' which will allow iPods to work without the constant system crashes that iOS 6 has caused ?

    Otherwise try:

  • Is there a way to reset iPod touch 4th gen without the sleep/wake button?

Hey everyone! My iPod touch 4th gen power button is jammed into the iPod itself. This is obviously a big issue, but is not the main point of this post. My iPod has been laggy and slow, so I need to reset it. (NOT restore, but slide to power off; press and hold home+power for 10 seconds) is there a way for me to do this without my sleep/wake button.
    Thanks in advance.

To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices

  • Facetime and imessage become useless after update to ios6 in my ipod touch 4th gen

    hi,
anyone having problems with facetime and imesssage in ipod touch 4th gen after updating to ios6?
I have tried a lot of things from changing the DNS, restarting the network, reset all the setting.
But still, it does not resolve the problems. My ipod still cannot send or receive any imessage or facetime.
In addition, my ipod is able to connect to wifi and access to itunes or app store.
    Somebody help me..
    Thanks

iMessage worked last night after upgrading iOS6 briefly. It has not worked since I also upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion on my Mac. This really ***** since I use my iPod to text during the day when I'm not home. Anyone have any luck fixing iMessage after upgrading to iOS6? Seems this is a big issue.

  • Is there any way to retrieve pictures from a lost iPod touch (4th generation)?

I lost my iPod awhile back and it had some really important photos on it. It recently has been bugging me a lot and can't seem to find anything to solve my problem.

If they are an iTunes backup of your iPod then extract them by:

If the photos were in your PhotosStream only the last 30 dys (from today, not when it was lost) will be restored

  • Is there anything I can do myself to get my ipod touch 4th gen to charge again?

I've had this 4th gen ipod touch for at least a year, maybe 2 years tops, now. It's practically my life line because it almost never leaves my hands/person. I use this every single day, especially to keep in contact with a close friend. My ipod was working and charging fine yesterday. Last night I had taken a shower and it did get wet when I had touched it with my hands still wet. First mistake on my part. I wiped it off with a towel and connected it to my laptop after to synch it. It synched at first but then my computer couldn't find the ipod though it was connected and I didn't think much of it because my computer sometimes doesn't find thigns right away. After, I went to put it to charge before bed and unplugged it after a few minutes. At the time, it was charging somewhat. I don't remember if I had a problem keeping it charging or not. I think it was fine. This morning I went to charge my battery before I head out and it did not charge. At first I thought it was my USB cable because this had happened to me once before and to fix the problem then, I just bought a new USB cable. I tried different ones I had in my house besides my usual one but it didn't charge with any of them. In fact, the ipod only recognized it was connected for maybe a few flickering secs before it would disconnect though it was plugged it. I couldn't get it to keep connection recognition long enough to possibly back up my ipod (because it has not been backed up since 3 days ago). As I said, my ipod is practically my life line so when the battery was depleting after some use and I wasn't getting it to charge no matter what I did, I paid a visit to the Apple store. They had no open reservations for today so I have to wait until tomorrow but they glanced at it real quick after I explained it won't charge or synch and said it looks like possible liquid corrosion. Is there anyway I can attempt to get it to charge again without having to go back to the Apple store? I'd rather not have to go back unless it's my last option. Also, if worse comes to worse and I need to have Apple take care of it for me (with the understanding liquid damage is not in the warranty) what will happen exactly? Will my data be salvaged in anyway or would I have some losses?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    No.
Also, do you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

There is no supported method to "downgrade" iOS on any device.  If you update, you will get the latest iOS for your device, which will be iOS 6.1.3.  You cannot go backwards to iOS 4.3
If you have never backed up in either iCloud or iTunes, then upgrading to iOS 6.1.3 will involve restoring your device as part of the upgrade.  Without a backup to restore from, you will loose everything that is on it.
You should first connect to iTunes with your computer, sync your device without upgrading and create an up to date backup of everything.  Then use the upgrade option in iTunes to update your iOS.
However, if the dock device strictly requires iOS 4.3, it will not work, as you cannot downgrade iOS.  There simply is no mechanism from Apple to do that.

There has never been a legit way to downgrade.
It will always restore to the latest available software.

Same thing here. Try putting the brightness down all the way (its hard to see at first but you will get used to it) and one more thing is that close all you open apps. So to do that you have to click the home button twice (after you put your passcode in) and you will see some apps in the bottom. Hold it until there is a red - sign. click all of them so they go away. This does not delete your apps it just makes your ipod better.
