Is there a way to use an iPod Nano to sort contacts by Company name?

I own an iPod Nano and would like to use the Contacts feature to keep track of my business contacts. Is there a way to sort by Company name instead of by First or Last name?

Is there a way to use my iPod Nano to listen to a radio frequency with wireless headphones.  It tells me that I have to plug in my headphones to receive the stations and when I do, the wireless headphones don't work!

No. I'm sorry. But, i think it uses the headphones as an antenna so it has to be plugged in to headphones in order to make it work. but, it burns the battery down so i don't use the radio function that much.

  • HT2864 Hi! is there a way of using my iPod nano with different Nike+ accounts?

    Hi!
I no longer use my iPod for running since i now have my iPhone 4. I'd like to give it to my girlfriend who is just starting to run. But whenever i open iTunes (even with her account) it automatically connects to my NIke+ account and I can't find the way of linking it with my girlfriend's account.
Is there any way of doing so? Could anybody please help me?
    Thxxxx

No.  You can sync content directly from an iPod to another iPod or iPad.  The content you wish to transfer needs to be in your iTunes library first.

  • TS4036 I purchased an iphone for my daughter and we are using the same account and she deleted some contacts from her phone and they were deleted off of my contacts as well. Is there a way to use icloud backup to reinstall the contacts to my phone?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You can only restore them from a Computer backup. This has occurred because you are sharing an iCloud account. ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, that way you can each manage your own mail, contacts, calendars, documents etc and avoid unintentional deletions and unwanted editing. If there is information you wish to share between you, this can be done with a secondary account.
Having separate iCloud accounts, doesn't mean you have to have separate iTunes accounts, so whilst you keep your personal data separate, you can continue to share music, apps, books, TV shows, movies etc.

  • Is there a way to use an ipod touch 3rd generation as a hard drive or flash drive?

I have an ipod touch 3rd gen thats all cracked and tourn up, it still will boot up but it wont respond to touch and the headphone jack doesnt work.  it still shows up in itunes and i can restore it and put music on it and everything, but sinse the touch doesnt work, i cant do anything with it. its also missing the top black part of the screen so you can see all the hardware and stuff. Is there any way to use it as just a hard drive or flash drive so that when i plug it in, it mounts to my desktop?

Well you actually can use it to hold all kinds of files.
If you don't like the itunes interface there are a whole lot of apps that will wired or wirelessly swap files back and forth with your iPod.
a few come to mind are/
    phonedisk dropbox
    shovebox
    filemagnet
    USBDISK
    Air sharing
    photoshare
amd these are just the ones I use on a weeklly basis, most were cheap or even free, check them out at the itunes store or from appshopper or something like that.
OR goto ifixit and order a new sceen and put it on yourself for cheap
    HOpe this help.

  • Is there a way to use multiple ipods on one computer without them overwriting each other?

i have in total 3 ipods.
One is an the square ipod. (the one with the moving screen on the right)
the second is an ipod shuffle (the touch screen one)
and i just got an ipod touch. (the colorful one)
i still use all my ipods but on my first two i use the same itunes for it. so for example, i use one ipod to download all of my music library.
then i connect my second ipod only to download selected songs.
but now that i have an ipod touch, one of the ipods is going to be overwritten.
So is there a way for that not to happen?
having a flash drive for a seperate itunes for one ipod is to much of a hassle.
but if anyone has the answers, i would greatly appriaciate it.
    thanks! : D

Why do you think that one will be over written?
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one computer.  Each is different and will only sync what you select.

  • Is there a way to use an Ipod as a flash drive?

I have some pictures on my computer that I want to bring into school for Graphic Arts but I'm wondering if I could bring them in on my Ipod, rather than burning a CD. Can the Ipod work like a flash drive without having Itunes installed? It won't let me copy the files and paste them into my Ipod in Win Explorer. Is there any way to do this without Itunes?

  • Is there any way to connect an iPod nano (Fifth Generation) to an older Mac

I am looking to get a new iPod nano to replace my Mum's Third Generation iPod. However, she has an older iMac G4 with USB 1.1 ports. Is it possible to make the iPod nano work on this machine? Is it possible to get an adaptor to connect the device to either the FireWire or Ethernet port? Or can the iPod be fooled into thinking the USB 1.1 port is actually a USB 2.0 port? She really doesn't care if syncing is slow.

There are no adaptors to convert from USB to Firewire.
Syncing might not only be slow, it could time out so you may need to manually manage the music on her computer and load a small set of songs at a time. You probably will not be able to load movies, etc. and even photos could cause a time out.
Is your Mum's old iMac possibly running Panther (10.3.9). If it is she won't be able to use the 5th Gen Nano at all.

  • Is there a way to make the iPod Nano 7 run smoother?

I love the iPod Nano. It's great. I've had mine for something like two years now, and I love it. But lately it's been acting up. It connects to my docking station, but if you touch the iPod in anyway, it will immediately disconnect and stop playing music, even though it's still plugged in. Also, sometimes with earbuds, the music will fizzle, crack, or even stop completely. When used with other devices, the earbuds work fine. So, if you have any ideas on how to fix these problems, please let me know!

    Hey Harold the Lion Tamer,

  • Is there a way to charge my Ipod Nano on my computer without turning off?

Trying to find out correctly if I had to put in sleep or hibernate. Just a first time user of Apple Products. Not rushing by the way, but if anyone can respond ASAP right away that's fine, because I'm tired by the way and I don't want to kind of mess up my Ipod Nano w/ watchband.

Just connect it, doesn't matter if it is off or on. But make sure your computer does not go to sleep because it will shut off charging and may actually drain the battery of the Nano.

  • Is there no way to use the iPod Touch as a USB Flash drive?

All pervious versions of the iPod have had a checkbox option under Info for "Enable use as disk" which lets you transfer files to and from the iPod as if it were a USB Flash drive for general purpose storage. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131
This option is not available for iPod Touch. Does anyone know if Apple mentioned why? Does the iPhone support this option?
Apple seemed very concerned about taking applications away to distinguish the iPod Touch from the iPhone, this would be an example of a feature I think they should have included in the Touch regardless of its availability in the iPhone, I hope they change this in the future.

Does the iPhone support this option?
Not via Apple, but someone else has produced a way:

  • Is there a way to use ipod with new computer without erasing entire library

I'm not really tech-savvy, but I'm tossing my old computer and getting a new one - is there a way to use my ipod on my new computer without erasing my existing library? It won't let me make changes to my ipod and wants me to erase everything that is on there right now - HELP!

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in iTunes enable it for disk use, this is required for most if not all the utilities listed below so they can access the files: Using your iPod as a storage drive
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

    No.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
