Is there a way to vary the speed of playback for a podcast on my desktop iTunes?

I love listening to my podcasts at 2x speed on my iPhone- is there some reason iTunes won't let me do this on my desktop?  Windows Media Player does it, but it screws up other things.  If Itunes won't do it, is there some other software that will?
Its maddening that iTunes can't handle this, in part because when I search Google for help, I find dozens of people asking for the same feature, some as far back as 2006.  It can't be that hard to add- come on, Apple!  Unless of course one of you can tell me how...

From every thread that I have read about this - and there have been plenty of them - I have not seen a definitive answer on this. The feature seems to be missing from the iPad as bizarre as that may seem. I know that I cannot find it.

  • I'm on FCPX 10.1.1.  Is there a way to change the speed of a keyframe effect?  I have still images zooming onto the storyline, but I can't find any way to speed up or slow down the zoom time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to change the speed of a keyframe zoom effect on still photos?  Clip duration doesn't seem to change the zoom speed at all.  Any help would be greatly appreciated

Open the video animation (Control-v). In transform>All click and drag the X and Y keyframes (which should be together) – left to speed up the scale change and right to slow it down . It may take a little practice to get this to work (I seldom get it right the first try).
You could do this individually for each clip, or you wanted to adjust multiple clips you can copy and paste attributes to your other other clips.

  • Is there a way to view the timecode in iMovie for Mac?

Is there a way to view the timecode in iMovie for Mac?  This is such a basic feature needed for editing; I can't believe it wouldn't be available.  Am I missing something?

Do the math means you know the timecode at the beginning of each clip and when you mouse over a transition or clip you know the clip length. If you trim the clip you see how much you are trimming. With these numbers you can caulate the cursor position or find the timecode value at any frame in the clip. I am not saying it is an elegant process by any means, but if you really need to, this will work. Obviously it is a grievius situation Apple has left us in regarding timecode.

My home network has an Airport Extreme w/Time Capsule as the base and then an Airport Express and a second Airport Extreme to reach different areas of the house.  Is there a way to use the second Airport Extreme for file storage on this network?  Network is administered through an iMac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.  Ideally, would like for the second Airport Extreme hard drive to appear on the list of devices in the Finder window.

    Ok.. gottcha
The problem is network wise.. Yosemite is about equal to tin cans and string.. pathetic.
Here is my usual set of instructions to get anything working on Yosemite.
The best way to fix problems is a full factory reset of all the AE in the network.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the AE.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the AE to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
Then redo the setup from the computer with Yosemite.
    1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
eg AEgen5 and AEwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use AE24ghz and AE5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense.
    2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
    3. Ensure the AE always takes the same IP address.. this is not a problem for AE which is router.. it is a problem for AE which is bridged.. you will need to set static IP in the main router by dhcp reservations or use static IP in the AE which is tricky.
    4. Check your share name on the computer is not changing.. make sure it also complies with the above.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric..
    5. Make sure IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open the network preferences, wireless and advanced / TCP/IP.. and fix the IPv6. to link-local only.
    6. Now mount the disk of the second AE in finder... manually.
Use Go, Connect to Server and type in the AE ip address.
    SMB://10.0.1.2
Where you will replace that address with the actual address. The network resource should be discovered and then it will request the password.. type that in and make sure you tick to save it in your keychain.
There is a lot more jiggery pokery you can try but the above is a good start.. if you find it still unreliable.. don't be surprised.
Do as much as you want of the above... not all of it is necessary.. only if you want it reliable.. or as reliable as Yosemite in its current incarnation can manage.
The most important thing is point 6.. mount the disk using direct IP address and not names.. dns in Yosemite is fatally flawed.

  • I accidentally deleted my media files from iTunes and Trash when I was trying to move the files to an external hard drive. Is there a way to restore the media files from a Time Machine backup or from iTunes Match? What are the steps to do this?

I accidentally deleted my media files from iTunes and Trash when I was trying to move the files to an external hard drive. Is there a way to restore the media files from a Time Machine backup or from iTunes Match? What are the steps to do this?

If you have been backing up on Timemachine.
All you need to do is enter time machine... Then the rest is obvious.
Find the iTunes folder and hit 'Restor'.
If not the only way to get all your iTunes music back is to enter iTunes Store.
On the right hand side you should see 'Purchased'.
Click 'purchased' and there you have it.

    I user Vista 64bit

the music countinues to try to save it to C:
I have move the Itunes Library folder to D: , and when I try again it will create a new file in the C: again where there is not enough space. The C: drive is just for OS and a bit of additional room.
I have redownloaded Itunes, I have repaired itunes,
Is there a way to change the stored musice location or is this a built in feature of ITunes and there is nothing I can do about it?

i have the same problem. i bought a new external hard drive and i am trying to move my entire library onto it. i copied all of my itunes library onto it but when i tried to delete a song off of my initial C: drive to test it, i had to go in an individually change where the songs location was. i already tried changing where the itunes music folder was located however the library still says its located on the C: drive.

  • Is there a way to overcome the two-connection limit for XMLHTTPRequest?

Hi, I'm using AIR SDK 2.5 from HTML/Javascript.
According to the same origin policy (SOP) there's a max of two request that can be sent to the same domain/port using AJAX (XMLHTTPRequest).
I have a long polled connection that is almost always using one ajax request, so I have only one left.
Is there a way to change the security settings in order to allow more than two simultaneous requests to the same domain/port?
    Thanks,
    Guille

    Hi Guille,
The AIR runtime is using the Internet Explorer network stack on Windows and the Webkit's on Mac and Linux. The maximum number of connections is limited by the corresponding stack and cannot be modified from AIR.

  • Converting cassette to cd using garageband.  Voice on cassette sounds like chipmunk.  Is there a way to fix the speed during recording on garageband, so the voice sounds normal?

Librarian Asst. needs your help!  Trying to preserve WWII veteran's interviews presently on cassette.  However, on one cassette the voices sound like chipmunks (speed too fast during recording).  I know how to transfer the cassette recording onto garageband.  I just don't know how to transfer the recording at a slower speed, so that the voices will sound normal.  Is there a way?  Please help.  Thanks.

You could try two things (sorry, I can only point you to the current settings in GB'11, since I no longer have GB '09) but it should be very similar.
The easiest thing would be, if the vocal transformers do work. You can change the pitch of a voice using a "Vocal Transformer" effect. Click the "Edit" tab in the "Info" panel and click an empty brick to add a filter:
If that does not work, try to change the timing of the track. Enable "Follow Tempo&Pitch". If GB '09 does not have "follow tempo & pitch", record your tape directly into a Real Instrument track in GB to record a purple region.
Use the tempo slider in the LED display to lower the tempo, till the recording does sound more natural.
    Good Luck,
    Léonie

  • Is there a way to adjust the speed of podcast playback in iOS 5?

In earlier versions of its, I could play podcasts at normal speed, half speeder double speed. As I listen to many podcasts, I enjoyed the ability to listen in the faster mode to save time. Now, after upgrading my iPad to iOS 5, it sounds like all audio podcasts are playing in only a slowed down mode with no control to adjust the speed that was found in earlier versions.  I mean, I even have this control in my first generation iPod touch!
Am I missing something or was something left out of iOS 5?

From every thread that I have read about this - and there have been plenty of them - I have not seen a definitive answer on this. The feature seems to be missing from the iPad as bizarre as that may seem. I know that I cannot find it.

  • Is there a way to increase the speed with which Acrobat X Standard opens a form?

I have several PDFs stored on my computer.  If Acrobat is not open on my system, the first form that I open takes forever to load.  It opens; however, I cannot access the text/check boxes for sometimes upwards of 30 to 45 seconds.  This is extremely frustrating.  Is there something that I am doing wrong or something that I can reset to prevent this from happening?  Once the first form of the day is open, the subsequent forms don't seem to suffer this problem.  I am working on Windows 7 Pro.

Hey guys, Gt this problem nailed. There is an add-on called "yet Another Smooth Scrolling" which is terrific and even works with keyboard up/down keys as well. Take a peek at it and this should resolve your problem.
So far I have been using Google Chrome and recently moved to FireFox for its better stability. The things that I found lacking are
    1) "Web Applications" like in chrome "Web Store",
    2) Google Instant search through its address bar.
    3) Quick Start-up.
Otherwise, I love Fire Fox and I hope people help survive this open community.
    Thanks.
P.S: I use Firefox 7 (A Beta version). Let me know if anybody has questions.

  • I have a swipe gesture that swipes a UIView onto the main View Controller. Is there a way to change the speed that the UIView swipes on?

I dont need the image to swipe to follow the speed of the gesture, I just want the swipe to be slower as at the moment it comes on so fast it almost pops on.
    Thanks!

Thank you very much for your speedy answer.
I was hoping to get the effect of a push segue from the initial View Controller screen to a UIView on that same view controller. I seem to be able to add this option into my Swipe Gesture connections, (storyboard shows the segue arrow exiting the View controller and then pointing back into the same View Controller) This would be ideal, but I cant work out if its possible to link this segue to the new UIView I want. At the moment it just feeds back to the initial View Controller screen! Argggh!!!

  • Is there a way to change the type of hash for passwords in active direcroty?

I would like to know what type of hash used for active directory passwords and if there is a way to change the type of hash.

    Hi,
Windows generates and stores user account passwords by using two different password representations, generally known as "hashes." When you set or change the password for a user account to a password that contains fewer than 15 characters, Windows generates
both a LAN Manager hash (LM hash) and a Windows NT hash (NT hash) of the password.
You can configure the type to only store the stronger NT hash of your password.
How to prevent Windows from storing a LAN manager hash of your password in Active Directory and local SAM databases

  • HT1689 I allow a friend to use my credit card (cc) to buy applications.  Is there a way to use the cc once and not to be saved in to iTunes?

I allow a friend to use my credit card to buy applications.
Is there a way that the cc information not to be stored in his iTunes?

As I understand it you'd have to go in and remove it from the iTunes account. And if it's his account he'll have to go in and do it.
If I were you? If you have iTunes gift cards handy just get one of those. I set up my iTUnes years ago and all I use are gift cards. Yeah, the remainder of the $15 dollars sits there, but if anyone gets into my iTunes that's all they can get, whatever balance I have.

  • Is there a way to access the web-based setup for my router if I cannot access the internet?

Okay, I need to change the ip address settings on my router. I have a WRT54G Wireless router. I cannot access the internet on my computer connected to the router, and do not know how to change the router settings without accessing the web-based setup page. So, back to my question. Is there a way to access this page if I cannot connect to the internet?

On the back of the router is a small reset switch. Using a paper clip or other small item, press the switch in and hold it for a few seconds. This will reset the router to the default IP address of 192.168.1.1. Enter that address in your web browser, and be sure your computer is attached to the router by an Ethernet cable. Don't attempt to do this using the wireless connection.
Once you have reached the web configuration utility you can change the DHCP settings.
To give your PC a static IP address you will need to open your network connections panel and, assuming your using Windows XP, make the changes from dynamic IP to static there.
