Is there a way to verify the authenticity of OS X Installation media?

Hi,
I have been having problems with a computer being compromised and after so many re-installs, I am beginning to suspect the installation media itself. Does anyone have or know of an md5 checksum or any other hash for the disks? Is there any other method that can be used to verify their authenticy? I have:
Mac mini
Mac OS X Install Disk 1
Mac OS X version 10.4.7
AHT version 3A102
Disc version 1.1
2Z691-5887-A
Mac OS X Install Disk 2
Disc version 1.0
ZZ691-5860-A

Hi! The installation process normally check the media for verification. Your continued installation problems may point to another problem. Often bad ram can write bad data to a drive or the drive itself can be the problem. The cases of a bad install dvd are rare. I'd pull ram except for the original stick, then I'd zero the hard drive and try again. Otherwise the most likely suspect is a bad logic board. Have you run the hardware test disc? Tom

Is there a way to verify the contents of my Vault?

I have recently attempted to move my vault to another drive and the process stopped part way through, the receiving drive ( Verbatim Firewire 500 Gig.) stopped and I got the "a drive has been improperly disconnected" type error message and the following pop-up:

I was able to eject it after a relaunch of Finder and a restart of my iMac I did a disk repair to both the WD drive and the Verbatim drive. The latter had some errors in "Volume" information which were repaired by disk utility and I tried to move the Vault again with the same result again so I wonder whether the Vault file is corrupted and need to know if there is a way to verify the integrity of the files contained in it.

Is there a way to remove the command R from opening my media browser?

I use command + t quite often when I am adjusting a track to sync with my drums, and once in a while I will accidentally click the command + R, which opens up my media browser. This little accident ALWAYS takes about 20 - 30 seconds to open, which would be fine once in a while, but once this happens the first time Garageband always takes a lot longer to respond to my editing until I restart the program, which is a huge hassle when I am on a roll. I would just like to remove the key command from allowing this to happen, if there is some way to do this I would be very happy to know how to get this taken care of.

Brilliant, HangTime! I missed that menu - I was looking in the "Windows" menu.
This works:
I added "GarageBand.app" to the "Application Shortcut" section (press "+") and added new shortcuts ⇧⌘R to Show Media Browser and Hide Media Browser.
Now the ⌘R does not do anything any longer
(You have to log off and on, or to force quit the Finder and restart GarageBand for the changes to take effect! )
Now it is "⇧⌘R" - you can use any key combination you like instead.

HT4859 How can I verify that my App data is actually stored in iCloud. With Dropbox, I can actually see my stored files. With iCloud, itseems I'm supposed 2 just trust that Appl has the data. Short of doing a restore is there no way to check the data?

How can I verify that my App data is actually stored in the iCloud. I can see and access my notebook, contacts etc. on the iCloud website, and I can see my photos in a folder on my Windows-based desktop compter (iCloud/Photostream). But no app data.
With Dropbox, I can actually see all of my stored files. With iCloud, it seems, I'm supposed to just trust that Apple has my back. Short of deliberately trashing my app data and then attempting a restore, is there no way to check the data?

You can't access them on Windows (unless you have iCloud enabled Windows programs) and I don't think any are, yet.
iCloud data is accessed via Apps/Programs, the Windows programs vendors will have to step up (just to make it worse Microsoft have not yet enabled their Mac programs, such as Office yet) I doubt that iCloud access is much of a priority for them, complain to MS, when enough Windows users complain maybe they'll do something.

Yes you can use the same Apple ID on multiple devices and FaceTime with each one. You have to associate a different email address on all but one of the devices.
Lets say you have two iPads and two iPods..... All sharing the same Apple ID. When you set up FaceTime on three of the devices, you have to associate another mail address in Settings>FaceTime>You can be reached for Video calls at>Add Another email address. Add a different email address in that setting and let Apple verify the address.
After that email address has been verified by Apple (they send you an email to that address so look for it in the inboxes of that email account and follow the instructions in the email), then remove the Apple ID email address on each of those three devices. You can use the primary Apple ID email on the fourth device.
Obviously, you have to have additional email addresses but you can set up free email accounts with AOL, Yahoo, gmail .... and you can use the email address just for FaceTime if you like.

No. You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I've had my farm upgraded from SP2010 to SP2013 for over 6 months now and all is well, however, I was refreshing my staging environment from production and I noticed that one of the databases still shows these errors when I run test-spcontentdatabase:

Message : The [SharePoint Web App] web application is configured with claims authentication mode however the content database you are trying to attach is intended to be used against
a windows classic authentication mode.
Remedy : There is an inconsistency between the authentication mode of target web application and the source web application. Ensure that the authentication mode setting in upgraded web application is the
same as what you had in previous SharePoint 2010 web application. Refer to the link "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=236865" for more information.
This doesn't make sense considering I converted the production web application to claims during the upgrade and then verified all sites were working with claims logins. I also verified that existing AD user identities were converted to claims by checking out
the database tables. Yet test-spcontentdatabase still thinks there is a mismatch here.
My farm is SP1 and no further CUs. The point of this particular refresh is so I can update to the November CUs in my test farm. Anyone else see this? Seems like it's a bug/safe to ignore because my stuff is working.

PPoint OWA there was a problem verifying the certificate

Hi, I installed Lync 2013 FE, edge and ARR. Recently, with your help, I finally made it work for web based meetings. People have A/V/Whiteboard/ but they are unable to use Share screens and PPoint.
I read that I need Office Web Application Server in order to make PPoint work so I followed online tutorial and installed it. As a certificate I at first used self signed but later as I added owa as SAN, I exported it from edge server and imported it in
OWA Server. I am not sure if this is the way to do that.
Error for share screen is that it is due to the network issues,
Error for PPoint is "There was a problem verifying the certificate". Remote user use web browser in order to access meeting, upload the file without any problem, and it says Loading ..... , on the other side I have domain machine with lync client
that receives notification to accept meeting content, after which error appears.
Any ideas?

I used this command to create farm (didn't define internal fqdn)
New-OfficeWebAppsFarm -ExternalURL https://lynweb.domain.com -CertificateName "ExternalCert"
Everything went smoothly, I can access
https://owa.domain.local/hosting/discovery (but cert is shown as unsecured since url is not the same as in cert (Lyncweb.domain.com).
Because I have split DNS, in my DNS I created lyncweb for the domain.com CNAME entry and I can successfully open https://lyncweb.domain.com/hosting/discovery form LAN.
I found several mistakes in my config (at least I think so):
1. In LyncFE I had under discoveryURL domain.local path, so this is why cert error was showing. It was able to access but because of the different URLs name that didn't match certificate name, I was getting an ssl error. - I changed it to lyncweb.domain.com/.....
2. I didn't have external DNS name for lyncweb.domain.com. In fiddler I saw that it is trying to access to this URL and since it wasn't defined- therefor not able to access. - I created A host record.
3. Firewall, since lyncweb was defined in ARR I needed to craete FW rule to let access OWA Server. - I added FW rule.
Current situation is this:
-- When I access through meeting.domain.com/Lync Client and start PPoint, on the remote client (teleworker where I started PPoint) presentation pops up on teleworker, I can go through the slides, but inside the LAN (second participant) on Lync Client or
via meet.domain.com I am just getting "Loading ...." and nothing appears. (I tried disabling Firewall but didn't help - so it is not about firewall, especially since OWA and LyncCLient are in the same subnet)
-- On the other hand when teleworker starts presentation and guest joins (both outside LAN), both can see presentation.
I thought that it is because I didn't have internal URL, so I added
-InternalURL: https://lyncweb.domain.com
Now I have both internal and external URL that is the same. But it didn't change the situation.
Any suggestions?

Is there a way to clear the list of "synched items" from phone?

Please read the list of things I've done so far before responding with basic stuff.
My iphone 4 was just updated with the latest firmware, 7.1.1. Full backup was done prior to upgrade. Subsequently, everything was wiped from the phone. Restore brought back a limited amount of apps and all pictures, but no music and no video. The Restore process displayed each file that should have been restored, but when completed, no music or videos were. restored. I tried again to restore with the same results. Tried syncing a few time and nothing was transferred.
Frustrated as ****, I added a song to be synced. That song and only that song was synced. Short of deselecting and reselecting everything that I want on the phone, is there a way to tell the phone that nothing has been synced and to resync everything without verifying if it exists on the phone?

You will find that by pressing the option key when you are in the File menu, that Duplicate changes to Save As… .

When the physical keys are entering a letter twice, it will definitely be something with the hardware. Can you verify that the keys appearing twice aren't getting stuck when pressed? You should be able to feel the key returning when the pressure of the finger comes off. If they're getting stuck, please check the charging port and headset jack for corrosion and any other damage to the phone. If the phone is under warranty it may require a replacement. Please keep us posted.

CA issue - Workstation signin "There was a problem verifying the certificate from the server"

Hi,
We have issues with all workstations on our domain. I just recently setup Lync 2013 server on a windows 2012 OS. When I went to test sign-in, I received a message "There was
a problem verifying the certificate from the server". To fix this issue, I had to download the cert and import it into Trust Root Certification Authorities on the local workstation. This will be impossible if I have to do this for multiple machines.
Is there a way around this? Why is it asking to do this?

You can follow the instructions here to use Group Policy to install your root certificate to all your workstations.
Or you could re-deploy your CA as an Enterprise CA.

Is there any way to modify the photo book size after I have created the book?

I created a photo book then realized it was not the correct size. Is there a way to correct the size or do I have to start from scratch?
I Found the answer after I posted this- CTRL D to duplicate, then choose new theme - Worked like a charm.

Yes. First click on the book in the Projects section and type Command +D (duplicate). Open the book, click on Change Themes and in the next window select the size and type you want.
The duplicate is to have in case you find any text that was removed in the resizing. You can cut and past from the duplicate copy to the original. Also verify that the resized book has all of its text, not text warning indicators and that all photos are there and in the correct order.
Always create a PDF version of the book according to this Apple doucment, iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture, to check for any errors, i.e. typos, missing text, etc., before ordering the book. Keep the pdf file to compare with the printed version when it arrives.
