Is there a way to visually see what clips are used in the timeline?

In FCP, is there a way to see in the browser all the clips that are being used in the timeline?
What I am looking for is a column that has a check mark in it if the clip is being used in the timeline.
In a big project, it would be good to visually see what clips have yet to be used.
Just wondering.
Ian

This probably isn't exactly what you're looking for, but you can turn on show duplicate frames in your timeline.
There is an option in the sequence>timeline settings that when turned on will put a red line under any footage that is duplicated in your sequence.
However there must be a reel number assigned to the clip and the timecode must be unique in order for it to work properly.
Another work around might be to color code each clip as you use it in your browser.

Homesharing gives you the option of seeing only the content in the shared library, that is not already in your own library.

  • How do i see what applications are running in the background

My iMac is running very slow my operating system is OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.2 with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor. How do I see what applications are running in the background?

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Isn't there an app that can track what apps are using up your resources?

There really ought to be!  My battery time stinks, I have to recharge my phone all the time, it's I took it off the charger at 8:15 and it's down to 84% and I barely used my phone today.  I've tried every suggestion I found on here and it hasn't helped.  The one thing that COULD help is if there was some kind of task manager like in windows that showed you what apps are using which resources so at least I could tell if there's something running that is constantly using up all the resources and milking my battery.  This is really frustrating.  I just checked and my battery is now at 83% and it's been locked this whole time.  I'm sorry but that is not normal.

another symptom--after doing nothing but some light texting, she sent 30 mb of data in an hour.  That strikes me as being way out of line.

  • What criteria are used by the site maintenence task: Clear Install Flag?

I want to understand what exact criteria, i.e. what fields in the database, are used by the "Clear Install Flag" Maintenance task.
Is it just LastDDR that needs to be either NULL or older than the configured "rediscovery period"?
Or are other fields also considered and if so which and what are the criteria.

OK, sorry, my response is not meant to be rude, but to pull additional details out of you since the blog post and TechNet article linked do fully address the question(s) as the heartbeat time being the only criteria used and IsClient being reset
to 0. Also note that you did explicitly challenge the veracity of the blog post and so that called for some clarification on the source and an understanding of why you were questioning it.
Having said that, it's certainly possible that other fields are reset during the task also, but why does this matter for your scenario? On that note, what is your scenario?
The "why", motivation, and context of the question or request for information is almost always important because it allows us to address your scenario and ensure that you have all of the information needed to properly address that scenario. Put
another way, why does it matter if some other fields are blanked out? Knowing this may help us point you in a better direction or even influence the product group if it's something that's never really been considered before.

  • Is there a way to to see what text messages you have on your iphone from your computer?

Ok so my phone turns on.  People can call me and I can swipe and answer their phone call.  The only thing that is wrong is that I can not see what I'm doing on my phone.  The screen just has a bunch of lines going up and down it when I turn it on.  It's like the matrix without the color green. I can plug it up to my computer and sync it and manage music and stuff like that.  So picture this, If I was blind, then I would have no clue that my phone did not work.  So now on to the question.  Can I see the messages in my phone or possibly anything at all? Is their a way to plug my phone up to my computer via usb cord and be able to see what I'm click on by like pulling up some window on my computer?  Or could I just access my messages and phone calls to see if anyone has called or texted me through clicking on specific folders inside or outside of itunes.  I have a Macbook Pro by the way. Please let me know what I can do. Thanks!

Thanks - but I don't want to delete entire threads, just most of the history in all threads. For example, is there a way to transfer all of my text messages, in all threads, from only from the last 2 months?

  • Is there any way I can see what has been added?

So I noticed that sometimes that films in the film club are added on different days than Thursday and sometimes television shows are added to the On Demand on other days beside Thursday. Is there some sort of alert or email service that lets us know what has been added on to BT Vision? It would help alot.

    Is this link any help?
    http://www.btvision.bt.com/on-demand/?cat=filmclub
It seems to give the film club info.
If you sort the list by "ending" date, shoul should be able to find recently added ones.

  • Is there a way to find out what computer was used to make an order

I found some charges on my account that I did not make assuming that it was either my 14 year old son or soon to be ex-husband, is there a way to tell what computer was used to make the order?

Last update was 3/3/2011 which was the itunes update. So the problem must be w/the itunes update. Does anyone know how we can contact MAC to tell them of this problem?
It's highly doubtful there's a general problem caused by that update, or the forums would be full of similar posts. More likely, it's specific to your setup somehow.
Have you Restarted your Mac lately? If not, that's always worth a try.
Then, make sure there isn't a problem with the file system on your internal HD. Verify it, per #6 in [Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Using Snow Leopard+ forum).
If that's ok, then as GfulDedFan says, run +*Repair Disk Permissions,+* per #5 there.
If that doesn't help, try connecting to your router via Ethernet cable instead of wireless, to rule out interference problems.
If you have the same results via Ethernet, you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your nearest Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
    Or call AppleCare at: (800) APL-CARE (800-275-2273)

  • OIM11g: Is there a way to find out what method is used to create user

    Hello,
I have a user pre-create event handler that gets called every time a user is created in OIM. In here, is there any way to find out if the user is created by self-service request, admin, or by an external client that used UserManager API? How can the Orchestration parameter be used to get this information?
    Thanks

  • I keep getting a message about my phone number being used for iMessage on a new iPhone. How can I see what devices are using my iMessage account and phone number?

The message "Your phone number is now being used for imessage on a new iPhone" Keeps appearing on my macbook pro. It also says "If you just activated iMessage on a new iPhone, you can ignore this alert." But the only option is to ignore the alert, because the only thing I can do with it is click "ok" and dismiss it. Is there a way I can look at a list of the devices using my iMessage account, and if there are devices that I don't recognize on that list, how can I block them from using my account?

Hi If you have another Apple  device check on that screen & accept. Cheers Brian

  • How to see what processes are using my memory?

I recently added more RAM to my system and I always keep Activity Monitor running with the memory usage icon on the Dock to see how much Lion and my programs use.
I noticed that even several CS5 programs running at the same time won't use that much, the program I've seen uses the most is Aperture, using anywhere from 500MB on start to 2.5GB while viewing--not editing--photos.
My questions is, when my system is running normally it uses from a quarter to half the total memory available but just now it's using more than three quarters and it's running not even half programs I use everyday. I quickly added up the memory being used and it's just missing out A LOT. I'm adding a screenshot of Activity Monitor for you to see.
I now that restarting the system (or by using the purge command in Terminal) will free up memory but this really puzzles me and I'd really like to know what's happening--BTW, even though several GB are missing, the computer is nowhere nears slow, at least.
Where are all the other processes using the rest of the memory?
I'm using OS X 10.7.3 Server with 16GB of RAM on an iMac.
    Thanks for all your help,
    Gustavo.

You will never be able to get those numbers to add up.  This topic has come up before.  Examples:
    Memory used by unknown processes
    Where is my memory?
And others.  You cannot use the numbers in that display to add up.  Even doing top in terminal produces conflicting numbers.  Many process are dynamic and may be missed in these displays.
FWIW, here's an apple article on the Activity Monitor memory display:
Using Activity Monitor to read System Memory and determine how much RAM is being used
Editorial: In my opinion I do not recommend always running Activity Monitor (or top).  The constant poling and display does have some affect on performance and cpu utilization.  That's why it always usually appears near the top of the process list when sorted by percent cpu unless really outweighed by something much bigger.

  • Is there any way to judge whether two streamings are casted by the same client?

    Hello,
My app use two different streams to send video and audio from flash clients to the server.
So another client need to judge whether two streamings are casted by the same client or not.
Is there any way to do this?
For example, if it is possible to get ip address from netStream instance, it will be a solution.
    Could anyone teach me this?
    Thanks in advance!

From the FCP 7 User Manual. You can access your copy of the Manual through the HELP menu on the menu bar at the top of your main screen.
    x
    Subtract Composite Mode
Subtract darkens all overlapping colors. Whites in the foreground image go black, while whites in the background image invert overlapping color values in the foreground image, creating a negative effect.
Blacks in the foreground image become transparent, while blacks in the background image are preserved.
Overlapping midrange color values are darkened based on the color of the background image. In areas where the background is lighter than the foreground, the background image is darkened. In areas where the background is darker than the foreground, the colors are inverted.
The order of two clips affected by the Subtract composite mode is important.
    Difference Composite Mode
The Difference composite mode is similar to the Subtract composite mode, except that areas of the image that would be severely darkened by the Subtract composite mode are colored differently.
The order of two clips affected by the Difference composite mode does not matter.
