Is there a why to stop the box that pops up demanding a password to enable automatic downloads every time I open iTunes?

Everytime I open itunes a box prompts me to enter a password to enable automatic downloads so I hit 'cancel' and it goes away, then it comes bck soon after. Is there a way of disabling this? It's as bad as getting pop up ads, only it's coming from Apple. VERY annoying.

I have experienced the same problem. Here's what worked for me.
I did all three so I cannot say for sure which step was the successful one.
(1) iTunes > Preferences > Store. Uncheck everything that has to do with Automatic Downloads. (From now on if I want to check on the status of any downloads I will do it manually. No big deal. That beats having to enter my password every time I launch iTunes.)
(2) iTunes > Store menu. Select Authorize This Computer. The response is that it is already authorized. The thinking here is that it resets the authorization.
(3) iTunes > Store menu. Turn off Genius. (Bummer, because I kind of like Genius. Oh well.)
(4) iTunes > Preferences > Advanced. Click Reset Warnings and Reset Cache. (Again, clean house to see if that helps.)
So far this has worked. No more constant requests for my iTunes password upon launching iTunes.

For some strange reason the songs in my library are multiplying. For example, I really only have 4,000 songs but every time I open itunes I have 6,8,10,000 songs! Any one else have this problem.  How do I stop that from happening?  I keep having to delete my library!

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • I have unchecked the box that converts my higher resolution songs to 128 kpbs downloaded to my iPod classic. How do I restore the higher resolution songs to the iPod?

Uncheck the option to sync music to your iPod from under the iPod's Music configuration pane and hit Apply.  After it has completed, retick the option and again hit Apply to resync all your music from your main iTunes library back to your iPod.
Or restore your iPod and start from scratch.

  • Apple:  Give me a way to stop TV downloads on iTunes, or I stop buying shows on my AppleTV.  That simple.   I'm tired of automatic downloads filling my hard drive every time I open iTunes on my laptop.

I'm tired of automatic downloads filling my hard drive every time I open iTunes on my laptop.  Tonight I had to go to iTunes to verify my payment info - even though I'd already done that two days ago - and before I can even access the iTunes Store, iTunes starts downloading 44 TV shows that I've purchased over the last few months on my AppleTV; before I could completely stop it, it had entirely filled up my hard drive - 180 GB.  There's NO reason there isn't a way to stop auto-downloads of TV shows - every other type of media has the ability to stop auto-downloads, and given that I have an AppleTV (for now!), why in pasta's name would I want to load them onto my laptop?!

We are all itunes users just like you.

  • Every time I open iTunes I have to agree to the licence . . . . and MORE!

    Windows 7 64 bit  /  iTunes 11.0.4.4
    Every time I open iTunes, I have to perform the following repetitive steps;
    -Accept the license agreement
-Click Agree on the Welcome Screen
-Decline the default player offer even though I have checked the "do not show" box
    -Select "Show Menu Bar"
    -Select "Show Side Bar"
This is getting real tiresome. Help in resolving this issue appreciated - IM

I found the solution and copy/pasted the stept to take. I got it from another subject related to the problem on this thread and it works for me.

yep, let's investigate the preference files possibility. First, quit iTunes and log back into your usual user account. Next, we'll have to set your PC up to view hidden files and folders. From the Start menu, click Open.
In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    Click the View tab.
In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
Click OK. Now, in Computer, open "Local Disk C:".
    Open the "Users" folder.
Open the folder with the name of your usual user account.
    Open the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "Local" folder.
Open the "Apple Computer" folder. Drag the "iTunes" folder you see in there out onto the Desktop. Now launch iTunes. (This will cause iTunes to rebuild that set of preference files.) *The license agreement will appear for you again.* (That is expected behavior when that particular set of preference files is being rebuilt.)

  • HT204406 Does iTunes match have to look for all music on my computer and send that data to and from Apple every time I open iTunes? This frequently makes iTunes crash before I even get to listen to one song. Installing the latest version of iTunes does no

Does iTunes have to check all my music for match every time I open iTunes even when nothing has changed in the music folder?  This is just one problem I have with iTunes and match.  Every time I open iTunes, the first thing happening is iTunes checking my music and sending the information to Apple and then waiting for Apple to send back information about match. There is a third step that I have never seen iTunes actually reach as it always crashes before finishing this ritual with my music and match.  Since I paid for match I can no longer use iTunes to listen to any of my music. I like having match function on my iPhone because even 128 GB is not enough space to keep a music library and everything else needed on the iPhone.  But it's been a disaster with iTunes on my Windows 7 PC. I updated iTunes recently and the same problem continues.  I can't find any clear description of how match works but it seems if there has been no change to the music folder then the tedious and buggy process of checking all music for match and sending data back and forth to Apple every time iTunes is used should not be necessary.  Is there possibly something I have to change settings for to help iTunes start without so much to do?

If your library was working on your computer and then popped up empty all of a sudden then this might be what you need...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • HT1349 I don't have an Apple product. I accidentally signed up for iCloud because I thought I could use it with my iTunes on my PC. Now it won't go away. I have deleted the software but every time I open iTunes it demands I reopen my iCloud session. Help.

I want to get rid of iCloud. I do not currently have an Apple product but thought I could use it with iTunes and my PC. I have deleted the software. I told iTunes to take it off my account, but every time I open iTunes there it is again, asking me to log into iCloud. I can't get Apple support because I don't have an Apple product. I don't know how to get rid of this!

This is for a Mac, but may be similar for a PC.

  • How to remove a small black window that appears on the upper right corner of my iMac and covers everything behind it every time I open iPhoto?

Every time I open iPhoto on my iMac a small black window appears in the upper right of my desk top and covers everything behind it, including iPhoto. The window says "Blocked Plug-In". I cannot move it, delete it, force quit it, etc. I have quit iPhoto, but the black window remains. I have restarted and shut down the computer, but when I open iPhoto the black window comes back. I have right and left clicked on the black window, but I cannot get rid of it. How do I stop the black window from appearing on my screen?

  • How do I stop apps from automatically downloading every time I connect to the internet?

When my iPhone connects to the internet, an average of four apps automatically download on my device. What is causing this issue and how can I stop it?

I've just got a new iPad, got 8 updates available on app store, after like 5 min there were 4 updates. It was when I realised that it was automatically downloading stuff, so i disabled it from iTunes and App Stores settings as you wrote. The problem is that even though I disabled everything, every time I reconnect this iPad to wi-fi it continues to download because from 4 available updates it went down to 2. And somehow it managed to download GarageBand update, that's 600mb off of my monthly 8gb!! Why does it keep downloading from app store?

  • TS3297 Every time I open iTunes to listen to music, not access the iTunes Store, I get the password sign in box, over and over again. When I try to access the iTunes Store it does not except my password. This has happened since the last update.

Everytime I open iTunes to play music, NOT to access the iTunes Store, I get the password sign in box for the iTunes Store. If I click cansel the box pops up a second time.
When I try to sign in to the iTunes Store it does not except the password and pops up the sign in box afain, and again endlessly.
This started happening about two weeks ago.

if itunes will not run, you probably have mangled windows badly
one feature of windows 8 is the refresh that saves libraries,
because you are using windows 7, you will need to backup all files to another storage device

  • Why does the iTunes AppleID system refuse to work properly without the need to reset the password every time I open iTunes for use?

Alright so here is the issue. When I first started using iTunes I created my AppleID. I locked it in to remember my password and authorize my computer so that I would NEVER HAVE TO ENTER IT AGAIN. So years pass, no problem. Then "ITUNES 11" come on everyone lets upgrade or you can't proper use the iTunes Store. Seriously it wouldn't let me access the store. Go Figure. So I upgrade simple right? No. It really isn't when iTunes 11 rolled out it was riddled with minor bugs that made the experience annoying so I did a rollback and live without the store for awhile.
About a year passes and I try again this time upgrading iTunes through a COMPLETE fresh install, again I did what had done the first time I logged my AppleID and reauthorized my computer. Hurrah other than getting use to the new UI it ran perfectly. Yes Finally! Right? Again.... No. No more than 2 or 3 software updates later suddenly my password for my AppleID is incorrect I was like "Okay?" and re-entered it thinking the big update cleared my settings.
Wrong Password please reset password to continue using the iTunes store.
I was like okay maybe the user agreement change and we all need to reset passwords and re-accept the EUA. So I go through the process to create a new password successfully and reset my AppleID in iTunes with the new password. Come back a few weeks later it happens again this time I enter my new password and what do I get?
Wrong Password please reset password to continue using the iTunes store.
So I first do a repair install to my iTunes than reset my password this time NOT setting it to remember password. Great everything works fine again password even matched my Home CompID so that I could NEVER lose it well come a few days later I try to use the store and what happens?
Wrong Password please reset password to continue using the iTunes store.
to try to make my Long story a little shorter....
This has been going on for the better part of 3 years I have almost completely dropped iTunes which has the better store library for Goggle Play Music who's store library isn't even a third the size iTunes has because their system works and my log-in is my e-mail. I repeatedly completely uninstalled iTunes and wiped it from my registry in hope a clean install would fix the problem but it never does.
My OS is Vista Home Premium Edition 32-bit and no picking on my OS I been working to get a new computer but that isn't happening anytime soon so I work with what I got.

Even removing the .xml files doesn't make a difference. Also, I now installed another update of iTunes, but still having the same problem, and this time there are no .xml files or preference files whatsoever in the Application Data and Local Settings\Application Data iTunes folders. It seems like for some reason iTunes is unable to create these. What should I do?

  • I receive a large amount of duplicate emails in my own boxes that i have sent to others. when deleted they return every time i check my mail. along with any messages i have deleted  from others can someone please help me?

when i send an email to someone i recieve multiple copies of it it my folders [ usally varying between all mail, trash, and important] they all say my name on them. i recieve about 20 - 40 of them at a time , even after i delete them next time i check my mail they are back . along with this any message that has been sent to me in the past that i have deleted also reappears but only  as single messages. im recieving hundreds of all these a day and it has made my email become unmanagable and im extremly frustrated. my computer is new and i never made any change to the preferences before this started happening so i have no idea . has anyone had this problem , have any ideas or know how to fix it? your help would be greatly appreciated . also to add i also recieve them whenever checking mail on my iphone i never had a problem on the phone until i activated the email on my new imac. and the email app uses my gmail acount if that helps?

no, I didn't ask to burn a picture....this is why I am confused to how the picture got on there.
I understand what you are saying regarding the multi-session thing (how do I avoid this if my other cds with photos on them have this, and I don't know they do?)
but what I do know is that cd had photos on it (it definately wasn't full, and maybe that is why I haven't had a problem with others...they have all been full) and no one else uses my Mac, so I know no one else put the picture on that cd. I may have inadvertantly burned the picture, but if I did, I don't know what I did to make it burn the picture onto the cd.....
The only thing that happened was I opened iphoto so I could save some of the pictures that were already on the disc, but when I went to look for the pictures on the cd, the only thing that was on it, was an iphoto picture....which I didn't ask to be put there.....
I have previously burned pictures onto CD using my Mac with no problem, and I've pulled pictures off CD that were burned using a PC. So I guess I need to know how to determine if the cds have this multi-session thing going on?

I tried the Aperature trial and liked it, but did not purchase it when the trial ended. A few weeks later, i purchased snow lepord and purchased aperture via the app store. I have had not been able to use it since. Each time i open it , afer a few seconds i get the spinning wheel of death and Aperture is frozen. I have to force quit Aperture to shot down mycomputer. I have re-installed Aperture 3 times with th e same result. I have iphoto on my computer as well is this causing the problem? I want my money back!!! Can anyone help?

You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.
