Is there a WIFI bug with IOS 5?

Ever since I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 5, it keeps dropping WIFI. I used to use it for taking online lectures via AdobeConnect. Now, the iPad drops the wifi connection totally 60+ minutes into the lecture. Nothing works to fix it other than time (several minutes) which is not good when watching a live lecture.
It's happening to me every week now. Renewing DHCP lease doesnt work, nor forgetting the network and resetting it - it takes several mins to reconnect and get DHCP address. Every other non IOS 5 device in the house has no issue.
Device had no issue with same network gear before upgrade.

It is also on the iPhone.

Battery percentage is only available on iPad (no jailbreak). With the device jailbroken, yes it can be on iPod too.

This is a typical response from the manufacturer. Did you try the fix that Lawrence mentioned. When Apple or any other phone manufacturer update phone software, they have the latest Bluetooth installed. It is usually the problem with the radio manufacturer that they devices are using the older Bluetooth protocols. You can try this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581 and see if anything there helps, but generally it requires the radio manufacturer to update their firmware.

I Have followed these steps, and tried others, such as resetting all my network settings. At best these only temporarily fix the problem - wifi still becomes slow or stops. I have other Apple devices connecting fine to my airport express. why is my iPad mini not working? Is it related to the fact it is 3G and I don't have a sim card installed? It is the current top of the range model with iOS 8.0.2. I paid over the odds for the best, and it is almost completely redundant.  Apple - I'm losing faith. You need to keep the public better informed and fix this problem fast, otherwise I will leave you for good.

  • Is there any way to get back to iOS 6.1.3? Far too many bugs with iOS 7

Is there any way to go back to iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4? I'm sick of the bugs that have come with iOS 7. My phone is slow, it randomly calls numbers when it's in my pocket even though voice dialling has been disabled and the amount of crashes I've had have been ridiculous. It is so unstable. Is there anyway to change or is it time I considered jumping ship and going to Android?

Nope... Many other post in here with same question... Sorry

  • WiFi problem with iOS 6 and network login screen

Here is a detail problem description:
Equipment: iPad 3 with iOS 6
Environment: corporate network with a login screen that requires login every 24 hours.
What happens: The very first time I tried to login into the network everything worked fine. The login screen showed up (as always did with iOS 5) as expected. But, the login screen does NOT come after 24 hours (when re-login is required), unless I will reboot the iPad (using the 2 buttons), or I will reset the network settings (which again does a reboot). Switching on-off the WiFi, or any other remedy does NOT work.
The problem is not related to the network or the particular iPad or iPhone. All iPads and iPhones with iOS 5.2 or earlier work just fine. Only the ones with iOS 6 have this issue.
I would appreciate any creative idea to resolve the issue. Thank you.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • WiFi Sync with iOS 8

Re: iOS 8 WiFi sync is broken  in response to Just J
I had a similar sync issue with iOS 8.0 on my new iPhone 6 Plus 128. Three hours trying to add music and no go. Frustrated and tired, I slept on it and this morning I remembered that this seems a problem with every major iOS release and remembered what I was told to do then! So here's what I did and now everything is fine on all of my devices with regard to synching. Go to Setting-General-(bottom of the page) Reset-Reset Network Settings-Device Passcode-Reset Network Settings. Let the device do that and restart. Try again this should clear the problem. Up until this point the device and iTunes didn't even know each other from Adam. By this I mean that the amount of space available between device and iTunes and device itself was all messed up. Now everything is running smoothly. What does Network Settings have to do with anything, I have no clue just know it worked. Good luck. You'll have to retype your WiFi password after doing this.

  • Problems and bugs with ios 8.0.2 on iphone 4s

After updating my 3 year old iphone 4s to ios 8.0.2, the UI became choppy (Same with ios 8 and ios 8.0.1). Few bugs i noticed even after updating to ios 8.0.2 (all done after restoring phone as factory new and loading few music/photos/videos loaded and few apps like manual cam, facebook and Google maps installed leaving 7.4 GB free memory.)
    1. The "Notes" app keyboard responds slow while typing.
    2. Free ram stays in between 60- 20mb which i checked with iMonitor which later drops down to 5-12mb when i open an app. So em just wondering where did the 450mb remaining ram went? Because of this i cant multitask like opening and running FB app and simultaneously opening Google maps or any other app using a bit more ram. In ios 7.1.2 i used to running three apps simultaneously without the app being reset.
    3. Ram stays at 200mb+ when i exit some heavy apps like "manual cam" thou it never comes at 200mb when i exit in built apps which a very little ram. So in real world the ram is always being used at 80% even i restart the phone.
    4. The incoming call screen is lagging. First i hear the ringtone for about .5 secs and then the call screen loads! ***?
From all this happenings i suspect that ios 8 and its further updates will use 80-90% of the iphone 4s ram leaving only 10-20% unusable for users! I dont know why 80-90% is still used even if i restart or even i have closed all the running apps! Usage comes down to 40-50% when i exit heavy apps like "manual cam" or "real racing 3" and the free amount of ram stays stable at 200+ mb for few hours until the cache or background processes resume after the phone refreshes after exiting the heavy apps. At 40-50% ram usage (soon i exit a heavy app) the phone works fluid and animations are smooth. Still my one question "where is my missing 400+ mb Apple"?

No, I wouldn't.  At worst, I might sigh, then start troubleshooting the issue.
This is a technical support forum, not an emotional support forum.
What troubleshooting steps have you tried?
    Here are some:
Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
    - Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear.  (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
    - Relaunch the App and try again.
    - Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    - Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    - Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
    - Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    - Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
    - Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

  • IPhone 4S no longer seeing 5 GHz Wifi signals with iOS 7

iPhone 4S no longer sees 5 GHz wifi band.
With iOS 6 the phone saw and connected to the 5 GHz band.
I just updated to iOS 7 and the band is not even shown.
The 2.4 GHz band was always seen, and now it's the only one.
Restarting did not ameliorate the problem.
    Solutions?

Try resetting network settings. General > Reset > Network Settings You will have to put your wifi password back in.

  • AIR bug with iOS fullscreen video! (easy repro)

Here's a bug with fullscreen AIR apps not dealing with iOS fullscreen video resize. Easy repro:
    1. Create an mc with a background graphic aligned with the top and bottom of the stage. (This is so you can easily see the bug.)
    2. Add a stageWebView and load an html page with embedded video. (or just load a video directly)
    3. Play video and enable fullscreen mode.
    4. Rotate device 90 degrees while in fullscreen mode and then hit "Done" button to return to stage (exit fullscreen).
    5. BUG: Stage is now "pushed down" and off-screen. (even though the mc still traces x = 0)
Conclusion: the display bug occurs when the user exits the iOS native player fullscreen mode from a different orientation then they started with (common if the original aspect ratio was portrait)
Can someone else please confirm this? (The amount of stage "push" appears to corrolate with the height of the iOS status bar.)
    Thanks.
PS. You don't necessarily need to load an html page. You can just have stageWebView load a video directly and experience the same result.
PPS. I also tried using the new UIWebView Native Extension and am seeing the same thing, so this is really looking like an AIR/Flash bug with the iOS native player.

A simpler summary for this issue:
If the device has been rotated since entering Fullscreen native player, a fullscreen app will be "pushed downwards" and off-screen slightly.
BUG: Adobe AIR app does not stay in fullscreen mode after such and event, ruining graphic UI for fullscreen apps.
Simple workaround: listen for on orientationChange and if stage.displayState == StageDisplayState.NORMAL, set to stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULLSCREEN.
However, iOS native player will lose traditional status bar appearance (and risk rejection by Apple??)
Complex workaround (as mentioned earlier) will keep the native player's status bar but result in the app's screen "flashing" upon resizing the stage.
Please help fix this bug by commenting in my bug report. Thanks again.
