Is there a word processing facility on the MacBook

Is there a word processing facility on the MacBook pro?

As I said:
TextEdit comes standard, but it is not a full featured word processor. For that you need to purchase something like Pages, or Word. Free, you can use this:

  • How do you do word processing on the iPad is there a word processing App?

How do you do word processing on the iPad is there a word processing App?

It all depends on what I need to use the document for.
When I need to create a text document that I need to share at work I use OnLive Desktop.  This gives me a Windows 7 Desktop with Office 2010 apps on it that I can connect to DropBox. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onlive-desktop/id490292278?mt=8 or CloudOn https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cloudon/id474025452?mt=8. You have to be connected to a FAST wifi network to use this option.
If I need to create a Word doc on the go I use QuickOffice Pro. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/quickoffice-pro-hd-edit-office/id376212724?mt=8
    Connects to DropBox.
If I just need to create a formatted text document, think Word document, I use Pages.  It is easy to use on the iPad, because it was designed for it from the start and it now supports TrackChanges. But it does Track Changes a bit clumsy.   https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pages/id361309726?mt=8
Connects to iCloud and you can open in Pages from DropBox.
If I just need a plain text document, I use PlainText.  Connects to DropBox and is easy to use.  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/plaintext-dropbox-text-editing/id391254385?mt=8
There are lots of options out there, it just depends on what you need to do the most.

  • Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to sync my new iPad. Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook? I'm angry!

Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 with Leopard and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard so that my system can download the relevant iTunes upgrade to sync my new iPad and get my audiobooks (which don't appear anywhere on the device right now). Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook and Snow Leopard costs more also? I don't have financial resources to pay for all the new memory requirement and related upgrades they say I need just to sync my iPad with my purchases.

Thanks for the reply but I already knew this. $20 for Snow Leopard which asks for 5gb free memory. I can only see that I have 4 gb (which I feel is rather a pathetic amount of available memory for any computer). To upgrade this computer's memory will cost another fee (I haven't researched this yet but gather it's more than $20). Then of course I could also be told that the OSX Mackbook Pro that I have can't be memory upgraded - which means I'm being told to buy a new computer - hence my very frustrated last email. I have been given a lovely iPad 2 as a present and now can't sync at all with anything because of this ongoing upgrade nightmare. How on earth am I going to be able to sync my movies, audiobooks etc to this new device??

So there is no eject button on the macbook air, what to do to reboot without force?

Choose Restart from the Apple menu. Or, just press the power button and choose Restart.

  • Firefox window is not shown and not even in the tasks bar, but there is a process running in the task manager

Clicked on the Firefox icon , but window did not appeared, checked in the Task manager, there is a process running with firefox.exe, and could not see any icon in the task bar adjacent to start button

I discovered that when the "Firefox is already running . . . ." message pops up I can fix it by doing the following [note: I get the same message for the Thunderbird e-mail program too] : 1. I open 'TASK MANAGER" and click on the "Processes" tab. 2. Next I scroll down until I see Firefox.exe *32 in the leftmost column (or Thunderbird. exe *32 if the message came up there), highlight that line by clicking on it and then click on the "end process" button on the right side on the bottom. 4. A pop-up window will come up but ignore its message and click on the "end process" button in the pop-up window. The program should then start the next time you click on the icon..
While that saves the need to restart your PC to fix the problem, I have yet to find any information as to the reasons for those two processes to show up in the first place. I'm running the 64 bit Win 7 Professional and do not know if that has something to do with those two processes running from time to time or not. The message comes up often but not all the time and I haven't been able to pinpoint any action on my part where the message comes up if I do '''X '''or the message never comes up when I do '''Y''' before closing Firefox or Thunderbird.

  • I know it is stupid but what is the word processing program on the ibook software?

I know it is stupid, but what is the word processing program installed on the ibook g4?

Hi, Wayne. Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Is AppleWorks installed? It's what I use, and came on many iBook models.
TextEdit Is a rudimentary word processor, and is included with Mac OS X.

  • What's the best word processing app for the iPad?

Hello! I bought Pages as suggested when I got my iPad, but I'm not happy with it being so basic. Is there something with a wider range of templates, and with more options on page layout, etc?

There are a number available in the app store, at a variety of price points (Documents, Documents to Go, OnLive, etc.). But none will be anywhere near as full featured as MS Word for Windows or Mac, so you should read the descriptions carefully.

  • Word processing application on new Macbook Pro?

Most PC's come with some sort of word processing application, like Word, already installed, does a Macbook Pro have one, is so, I can't find it. If not, why not, it has everything else.

It doesn't come pre-installed usually. Check out the iWork suite which has Pages (documents) Numbers (spreadsheets) and Keynote (presentations) software in it - see here for more: http://www.apple.com/iwork/
    30-day free trial - http://www.apple.com/iwork/download-trial/
PC's don't come with Microsoft Office installed you have to buy it.
Here's some free options if you don't want to buy iWork

  • Question on word processing software Preinstalled on MacBook Air.

Does the word processing program pre installed on the newest gen MacBook product line allow you to open, save, and compose your documents in Word?  I thought it does but saw this at Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/Office-Mac-Home-Student-2011/dp/B003YCOJA8/ref=sr_1_1?s=so ftware&ie=UTF8&qid=1343322115&sr=1-1&keywords=microsoft+word+for+mac
Why would you need that if you can save your files in Word format and read Word docs right from the start?

The app TextEdit which comes preinstalled can open and save Word format.  But it is no substitute for Word or a Word clone like OpenOffice.

  • Is there any way to power up the MacBook without opening the lid?

Does anybody know if there are key combinations (external keyboard) or a way to enable the Apple Remote to power up a MacBook?
I have an external display, keyboard, and mouse connected and would like to be able to startup the MacBook without opening the lid...
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Macs have not been able to startup from a USB keyboard for nearly eight years. The very first iMacs had a USB keyboard with a power button, but since this is not a standard USB function, Apple removed this ability shortly after.
As the others have mentioned, if you have an external display, keyboard and mouse, then you can wake the MacBook from sleep. Is there a reason you're shutting down at all? I haven't restarted my MacBook twice since I've had it for the last three weeks. I just close it and it sleeps when I go to work or at night.

Many of us have moved from windows to the Apple products...BUT...the military is still stuck in the past and still using Windows and windows programs. PLEASE HELP.

  • Word processing with superscripts and subscripts.

Is there a word processing app for the iPad yet which does superscripts and subscipts?
(Discussions on this subject were posted on this website about a year ago, has the no superscipt button and no subscript button problem been fixed yet?)

I've found a possible solution to insert equations and formulas without Latex or copy/paste images, only with Pages for iPad and without internet, using Pages tools. So, I have some examples of Pages documents. If you want to take a look them, give me your email and I'll send you an example.

A gazillion.  Pages, docs to go, quick office.  Look in the app store for word processing.  Read the reviews.
