Is there a wy to turn off cover flow?

I know its a great way to browse music. But I just never use it. I find it faster to just select the song or artist of what I want to listen to. I don't like when I'm lying down or just trying to use it when I'm on my side and I can only browse in cover flow. Is there a way to shut it off? if not apple should maybe consider making it an option for the people that don't use it.

  • How do you turn off cover flow?  I HATE IT!

I just purchased an iPod nano.
But this cover flow thing on the right side of the screen is driving me nuts!
I went to settings > main menu > cover flow and unchecked "cover flow". But I still have this annoying cover flow on the right side of the display.
My iPod video does not have this terrible feature. (Good but why?)
If there's no way to shut this off I'm returning it for a refund.
There has GOT to be a way to shut cover flow off.

Thank you to all who have tried to help.
Perhaps some additional details are in order.
I also have an iPod video. It works correctly. When I go through various menus there is no artwork floating around on the right side of the display.
If I uncheck "display album artwork" in iTunes that will probably turn off the album artwork that my iPod video shows when it's _actually playing that song._ I want to keep that ability.
What I need to turn off is the annoying graphics that takes place to the right in menus.
If my iPod video does it correctly why can't the iPod nano?
Because the iPod video does not have that feature and the iPod nano does.
The new iPod nano and the new iPod classic have a new operating system that includes the moving graphics to the right of the menus. As you have been told you cannot turn it off it is what the new menus look like, get over it.
I really don't see what the problem is anyway, it does not interfere with the operation of the menu, nor is it offensive. if you don't like it then take it back and stop whining.

  • Turn off cover flow on the touch?

Any way to turn off coverflow on the ipod touch? I know you can on a nano, and it annoys me and I want to turn it off on my touch.
    Thanks!

not currently. tell apple it's a feature you would like: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html (i agree, it is annoying and should be optional)

  • Turn off cover flow?

I am considering buying a Touch, but am concerned that I am going to be unhappy with the cover flow feature. I am never going to use it as I don't think I've ever sorted by album on my ipod or on itunes. I tend to use playlists or end up randomizing songs more than anything. Because of how I use my ipod, it will be in different positions quite a bit which will cause the cover flow to engage. Since I don't typically look at my ipod when switching songs, changing volume, etc. this could become a problem for me. Is there, or is there going to be, a way to disable the cover flow?
If anyone has a definitive answer on this, either yes or no, I'd appreciate it. If I'm going to buy one it will be in the next week as I have a trip coming up that I'd want to take this on.

So you are saying when it's in lock mode and you double click the button you don't have to do the finger swipe unlock thing? It'll bring up the volume/track control up anyway? If so, would that also work while its in cover flow mode? If so, I could just double click the button first regardless the orientation and would have access to the stuff I'd need anyway. That very well might work.

  • When sharing screen from work with my home computer, is there any way to turn off the display at home?

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but when I'm viewing my desktop on the home computer from work (as in I've connected by finding my computer in the finder and hit the "Share Screen" button - is there any way to turn off the display at home? It seems a bit of a waste of power to have the screen on when I'm not actually there - I just need to be able to see all my programs etc on the remote screen in order to use them. My home computer is a 2011 iMac running latest Mountain Lion, work is a 2010 MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in advance!
    Matt

I've set up another user on my home Mac and left that one logged in. Now when I connect from work it asks me if I want to share the screen or log on virtually as my user. I think choosing the second option doesn't power up the screen.

  • Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages?  I just want to type a letter and add pictures and titles, and Pages keeps changing font sizes and doesn't let me "Do it my way".  I HATE this!

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages?  I'm using a blank document, so I figured I could write my letter and add pictures any way I wanted to.  But NO!  Pages keeps changing the font size!  I typed a large heading as a title, and when I try to change to a smaller font for the body of the letter, it changes the size back to the larger size!  I am getting SO FRUSTRATED!  I've spent over an hour trying to get the stupid program to let me just type my letter!  Can anyone help?

The only one left is the "unsubmitted text" dialogue, which would not be a problem if I were not a Facebook user; after updating the "Richard is..." field (which does not require a manual submit to actually send) I get the above message. This is obviously Safari just not realising that the info has been sent and is therefore (I imagine) one for Apple themselves to answer!!
You're welcome Rich. Glad to help.
Not being a Facebook User, I'm not sure how to respond to the error situation. However, this would be something to report to Apple as a bug via the Safari Menu. First, open to the page in question, then select "Report Bugs to Apple".

  • Is there a need to turn off my Apple TV when I'm using it? If so, how do I turn it off?

Is there a need to turn off my Apple TV when I'm not using it? If so, how do I turn it off?

    Kappy,
I know you said that my Apple TV shuts itself off after about an hours idle time but mine only shuts itself off radomly maybe one every two days even when the TV has been off and the iMack has been off over night. My wife and I both have iPhones and she has an iPad which may be causing the Apple to stay on. Don't know. Incidentally, my Apple TV  shows my iMack iPhoto pictures and albums great. Still a little concerned that it doesn't shut off after some idle time.

  • CS6 Multicam Edit - Is there a way to turn off some camera angles when the system gets strained?

I'm doing a multicam edit in cs6 and the 5 camera angles I have are straining my system.  I have two main angles and three kind of back up go pro angles that I don't need most of the time.  But I don't want to get rid of them either.  Is there a way to turn off monitoring some of the angles at times so that video will playback smoother?  Then when I need the other angles, switch them back on when I want?  The video is so choppy with all 5 angles monitoring at once that multicam editing is basically impossible.  I'm editing on what's supposed to be a very fast system at work but it's not fast enough...Thanks!

I'm not aware of any way to do this. You might want to invest in a battery case if this is a problem for you; our users here all have them.
Please submit your feature request to Apple at this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback; I agree it's a good idea.

  • In iOS 7 is there a way to turn off that new camera burst mode?

I like the old camera ability to keep your finger on the shutter and release to take a photo. It helps avoid camera blur with certain close shots you are trying to frame, and was one of my favorite "hints on using your camera" for the iPhone.
But with iOS 7 this has turned into burst mode, which is driving me crazy.
Is there a way of turning off burst mode for the shutter button and having it work like it did before?
    Thanks,
    doug

Thanks, Doug.  I'm a little disappointed to discover so few of us who miss what I consider one of the iPhone camera's cleverest refinements.  Being able to hold one's finger on the shutter and release to take the photo is something I did by habit, and now sorely miss.
Most troubling to me is that the change represents a shift to favoring an entirely new way of taking photographs — a style I'd conservatively call, "by the seat of your pants".  That's never the way I've taken photographs.
Like Nadnerb19, I'm hoping Apple reconsiders its priorities, and gives us the option to make a choice between machine gun style photography and the steadier, more 'focused' approach afforded by previous versions of iOS.

Voicemail is a carrier feature, so contact your carrier, although I doubt they will disable voicemail for you.

The Apple TV will go into standby mode. You would have to unplug it for it. The device uses very little power so there shouldn't be a need to do this.

  • Is there any way to turn off keypad sounds when making a phone call?

I am a new user to iphone....is there any way to turn off sounds of keypad when making a manual phone call of someone not in address book?
    Thanks

If I understand the question correctly, it is not about turning off keyboard clicks, it's about silencing the beeps made when manually keying in a  phone number. With keyboard clicks turned off, the beeps still sound when keying in a phone number. If I'm reading the iPhone User Guide correctly, it explains how to turn off keyboard clicks but not how to silence the   beeps when keying in a phone number. The only way I have found to silence the beeps is to put the phone into silent mode.
