Is there activation server or Appstore is down??
I have erased all the data and when i try to confgure my iPhone and not able to activate and showing the error as "the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again ina few minutes" .
Please help me to activate my iPhone. Thanks in Advance!!!
Same exact problem I believe. Getting activation server temporarily unavailable on a phone previously activated, follwing a full wipe.

That you may have jailbroken your phone. You may have used that computer to jailbreak a phone. You may have a bad hosts file on the computer because of that. There are many reasons, but generally those are the main ones. According to this http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/ there are no system outages.

Activation server shut down for Creative Suite 2, Acrobat 7, and Macromedia products
Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers. While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.
If your software is affected by the activation server shut down then you will receive an error that the Activation server is unavailable. The specific affected products are as follows:

In the English version of the software the file CreativeSuiteCS2Disc2 extracts to C:\Creative Suite\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\. CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1 and CreativeSuiteCS2Disc3 both extract to C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\.
Please copy the contents of the C:\Creative Suite\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\ folder to the C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\ folder and you will no longer be prompted to insert disc two.

EN version is not so eaqual in all with CZ version, I have PREMIUM one, not Standard.
So I download these EN versions and Acrobat 7Pro separately.
It look that it works, I have it installed on my presentation laptop. I ussualy work on PC and laptop is for bussines trips mostly.
When I was working on my PC I found in menu one interesting option. I have installed CS2 in 2010 so it works OK, still in CZ. What I found in menu is called "Licence Transfer".
I didnt try it because I dont want to loose my activation on PC, but could you please say to me what does this option means?
Is it possible to copy licence on flash disk and use it on laptop, but it still be in PC also? Or it is only for deactivation, so you will loose it, and after this you can do new activation (which is impossible by server shut down)?
And one question to the end, if I buy some later version like CS4 or CS5 (from some graphic studio which have one licence to sell-transfer) so do Adobe plan to shut down server too, for CS4, CS5 or after this non user/customer friendly solution (I mean for CS2) will Adobe do some application which we can install on our local PC and this app will say to CSxx "Your licence is OK, just continue in work" ?? --- this would be much better, I think if Adobe do this so it will be the same like no-activation versions in EN only but without so many complains and impacts on your customers.

Operating system : Windows XP home edition / SP3 Computer : Pentium 4 / 1,8GHz - 512 MB
Other software : Adobe Premiere 6.5 / Photoshop Elements 5.0 / QuickTime 7, etc.
My harddrive crashed and I lost all my software. I had to reinstall. Everything is okay now but when I activate Encore DVD 2.0, I get the message "Activation server shut down for ........." I searched for the free download (without activating) of the CS 2 Premium, but I cold not find it. I only found the normal CS 2.

So, I'd been having problems with my phone where the iPod would stop playing while I was using the WiFi and restarting it hadn't helped, so I thought I should try a full Restore.
I've been syncing, so no worries about losing information. The software downloaded into iTunes and everything went OK until it got to the re-activation part.
"iPhone activations are not available at this time due to scheduled AT&T system maintenance... please connect again after 3pm EST Sunday"
Well, that's just great isn't it. Now I've got a $600 paperweight all day.
HOW ABOUT TELLING US OF *SCHEDULED* MAINTENANCE *BEFORE* THE RESTORE PROCESS STARTS..?
It wouldn't be hard to check that the AT&T activation server was alive before the process started and to give us an option box that said when we would be able to complete the process before we started.System maintenance should not bring the site down for up to 24 hours, any IT network worth its salt should be able to handle rolling upgrades. And they've had several system maintenance sessions in the last 2 weeks, not just this one. FYI, this system maintenance is not just for iPhone activations, AT&T's entire account system is down.

now my iphone is 3GS 32GB and now it is version 4.1 and i make an update to 6.01 and the update is installed but there is an error saying that the activation server is temporarily unavailable and saying try connecting to itunes and to activate and i do but nothing new i need a solve for my proplem now !!
That message usually indicates that the phone was either hacked/modified or jailbroken?
Was this phone ever locked to a different phone carrier? -
activation server is down and i cant do it through itunes because my sim is locked, i cant unlock it because i cant get to the screen that lets me enter my pin
That is very particularly bizarre situation that as far as I know can only be overcome by borrowing someone else's unlocked sim.

2 errors: "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable" and the sim says "searching" while iTunes says there is "No Sim installed" - but of course, there is! Any help please??

Thank you for the note - I have seen similar replies on other posting errors and I see how that could make sense. The thing is, my iPhone is not jailbroken - it is from an authorized distributor. However, when I told them about the "no service" problem on the sim, they were unable to assist. Then my phone messaged that an itunes restore was required - so I did that, several times, to the error message now noted on my post. I wonder if there is some other way to over-write this message? Thanks very much. -

trying to active my old iPhone 3gs. it showing that activation server is temporary unavailable and on the iTunes showing that there is no sim card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. I unlocked my phone then i upgrade it, after that this happen. i tried with other sim same message come again and again.if any body know solution let me know. thanks
Was the SIM card activated on another phone? I assume this is an ATT style trying to use on T-Mobile? Was the SIM installed correctly? Is the carrier (like T-Mobile) operating IOS 6 devices yet?
If the SIM is a valid SIM from say T-Mobile, you may want to contact them for assistance activating the SIM card.
Activation and SIM issues typically point to the carrier. And if this was a CDMA phone say working with verizon, it will NOT work for ATT or T-Mobile as they use different electronics on the 3GS. The SIM slot is for international use only. -
How long is the Apple Activation server for the iPhone going to be down?
It'll clear up. Hopefully sooner rather than later, indeed. A lot of people thought it would be a simple update and it's caused extreme issues in their workday, such as people who are on call and now are totally unavailable.
You'll want to stay connected to Wifi, or to iTunes (if you're trying in iTunes) and keep trying as often as you can stand it. -
