Is there an adapter that will charge my 3g while I'm connected with USB2.0?

My 3rd generation iPod, like many others here, no longer connects via firewire- even after trying every trick mentioned here AND switching cables, computers etc.
I realize that the 3g cannot charge via USB2.0 AND will rapidly discharge when connected to the USB2.0 port (powered of course).
My question is:
Is there a plug or adapter that will allow me to connect my iPod to my mac via USB2.0 ( thus mounting it and making it accessible with iTunes etc ) and charge/power it at the same time. Maybe, something with an extra cable that goes to a wall transformer like the palm pilots used to have.
My iPod works fine as a player it just won't connect with Firwire and won't stay charged long enough, (2-5 minutes) while connected with USB2.0. YES, the battery seems to be fine. It will play for over two hours on its own. Also, my Apple care ran out in June and I can't afford a new iPod right now.
An adapter like I described would get me over the hump until somebody figures out what happened to all the 3rd generation iPods this summer!
Thanks!

It may not be compatile with the iPad. iPads are not specifically mentioned in the compatibility specs here:

See the following page for more info & compatibility. I do not believe there is any type of adapter that will get you compatibility.  The iPhone and iPod touch are the only devices being mentioned as compatible.

It's not that simple. You need a "smart" device to connect a hard drive to, like a Time Capsule, or another computer, or an Airport Extreme/Express that was made to share a drive, or some other brand router that has a USB port for sharing a drive, etc.

  • Where can I find an adapter that will let me use my firewire 800 devices with a thunderbolt only ported macbook air?

Been looking for a way to use my firewire 800 devices with my macbook air - which has only usb and thunderbolt ports.  I've seen internet pages for an adapter from sonnet but have not found anywhere to actually purchase such a thing.  Would love to be able to at least try to use the thunderbolt port - for something - or trade the thing in for something with present day usable firewire 800 ports.  Is this thunderbolt technology already getting shelved?  I see like 5 items on the market that actually use this port...  really?  That's it?   Thank you for any guidance!

Sonnet has an TB-capable expresscard adapter.

  • Is there an adapter that allows youto use ethernet cables in hotels?

I travel for work and don't want to use wireless in countries such as Nigeria.  Is there an adapter that will allow me to use the ethernet cable in my hotel room for the ipad2?

No. However, you can travel with an Airport Express. The hotel's Ethernet connects to the AEX. Then the AEX is configured to provide a local wireless network in the room. You will need the Airport Utility app for the iPad.

  • My macbook does not have a firewire port. Is there any kind of adapter that will allow me to use my advc 300 (which need to plug in to the FireWire port)?

My macbook does not have a firewire port. Is there any kind of adapter that will allow me to use my advc 300 (which need to plug in to the FireWire port)?

Firewire, USB and the recent thunderbolt use completely different protocols, therefore there are no adapters for mutually adapting them, just a computer, which allows connecting them, and will work as an interface. For example, if you have an external disk in an enclosure with only FW connection and another one with USB connection, just your mac, having both, allows their interconnectivity.
If your mac does not have FW (the brief alu MB series, Air) you cannot connect a FW device, if only FW port is there.

  • Is there a USB hub that will charge & sync iPad

Looking for a USB hub that will sync and charge my iPad and iPhone ideally with 7 ports.
Is there one out there as I can't seem to find any?
Just about to return a D-Link dub-H7 hub as it seems to becausing issues with the USB ports on the iMac. All seems well when i leave a device charging when I go to bed but in the morning none of the iMac ports work until i restart.

This is the problem with these ports. I bought a powered USB at MicroCenter last winter. It had 7 ports, two were designated for high powered devices and yet I plug in one iPhone to charge and within a few minutes, the hub will disconnect from the computer.
All I can recommend is searching for POWERED hubs on Amazon and read the reviews. Not sure if there are some that will actually work but trying a few can get expensive.

  • I have a ipad 4th gen with the lightning charging port. I have realised how long it takes to charge and the poor battery life which means I can't take my ipad anywhere. Is there a case that is available that will charge my ipad? I know they are out there

I have a ipad 4th gen with the lightning charging port. I have realised how long it takes to charge and the poor battery life which means I can't take my ipad anywhere. Is there a case that is available that will charge my ipad? I know they are out there for older iPads with the 30pin charger but I can't find one for the lighning 8pin charger.

I don't know what you mean by "poor battery life". If your iPad is working properly you should get 9-10 hours of life.

  • Is there an adapter that lets you use iPhone earbuds with an iMac?

I have big heavy uncomfortable headphones with a mic that I use for gaming on my iMac.
I'd rather use the earbuds from my iPhone.
Is there an adapter that lets you use iPhone earbuds with an iMac?

I got the splitter, (see link below), but the mic does not seem to work. Apparently, there's a difference between a mic port and a line-in port. Mic ports are powered by the computer, line-in ports are not. They expect a powered signal to come from the input device. The iMac has a line-in port.
I downloaded an app called Line-in that is supposed to give back the ability to use unpowered mics with Macs that lost the abiliy after a system update. It did not work for me. I guess my iMac never had the ability to use unpowered mics.
So I ordered the USB Stereo Audio Adapter below. It's basically a sound card that plugs into a USB port and will work with an unpowered mic. It has not arrived yet. I'll let you know how it goes.

  • Is there any way that will notify me first before purchasing in iTunes? I have lots of purchased in iTunes in my credit card.

Is there any way that will notify me first before purchasing in iTunes? I have lots of purchased in iTunes in my credit card that I didn't buy. Pls help.

You should be prompted to enter your password when buying, if you aren't then on your iPhone you can set Settings > General > Restrictions > Require Password to 'Immediately' so that it has to be entered for every purchase (that setting has a default of 15 minutes during which it doesn't need re-entering).
If you've been charged for items that you haven't bought then you can try contact iTunes Support via this link : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Why does the iPad make the same noise when it connects to a charger that doesn't charge it as one that will charge it???

Why does the iPad make the same noise when it connects to a charger that doesn't charge it as one that will charge it???
I would expect that it would make an unusual noise if plugged into a generic USB charger that does not have enough oomph to charge a pad to alert you - otherwise, you might think the noise is reassuring that you are actually charging it.

I guess my question was actually more of a comment on the (lack of) design!  It is unusual that something like this would still be in an Apple product.  There are wall chargers that have a USB port on them that do not have the required oomph to charge the iPad.  I have one that has two USB ports, one for my iPhone  (it won't charge an iPad), and one for an iPad with greater amperage rating.  I accidentally used the wrong ones for a while yesterday, but noticed before being "surprised" the next morning by an uncharged iPad.  The iPad is smart enough to say "Not charging" by the battery icon when it is plugges in to one of these, so it "knows" - seems like it would be fairly simply to have the iPad make a different or additional noise  wehn it puts up the "Not charging" text icon.  Failsafe user experience?

  • I have an iphone 4s, I installed Vtok but the video chatting part of the app is not working when I try to chat with my husband through gmail on his PC. Can I fix this or is there another app that will let me chat with my gmail chat contacts?

Vtok video chatting is not working on my iphone 4s. When I try to do a video chat with my gmail chat contacts who are using a PC we each only get the voice part of the chat and no video. Is there some way to fix this or is there another program that will let me video chat with my gmail chat contacts? Thank you.

    You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

  • CS4 will not open Nikon D7000 NEF files; Is there a DNC that will open them?

    I have CS4 and Light Room 2
Apparently there is no Camera Raw update for the new Nikon D7000 NEF files for CS4.
I therefore down loaded the Adobe Digital Negative Converter Verson 6.3.0.79 which is compatible with Camera Raw 5.4 or later.
Using that DNC, when I do step 1, "Select the images to convert" I get the message "No items match your search".  It apparently is not recongnizing the D7000 NEF files.
Is there another DNC that will open and convert the D7000 NEF files?

I just bought the d7000 yesterday and was experiencing the same issue with cs4. I downloaded the DNG converter from adobe and selected the whole folder where the raw files were located (I was unable to select individual images) and it worked fine. It processed the files one by one with new name (without the $500 CS5 pricetag for now). The DNG files open in bridge and psd. Perhaps try selecting the folder?  Good luck.

  • Is there an App that will sync with microsoft outlook calender?

Is there an App that will sync with microsoft outlook calender?

OK here is a problem I have with my calender- all the events are added mutible times for each event- at least 4 of each. So how do I get all of these mutiable events down to just one event. Now this also includes hollidays and personel events  on the calender from outlook. All this I think happened after sync to Cloud- not sure, could have happened after OS 5 update!!! Now this is on my iPhone 4. Now going to my calender on my home computer in outlook no events or holidays are showing in the outlook my calender. If I go to the icloud calender it has mutiable events and holidays like on my iPhone. Now how do I fix this without causing a problem with my other programs?
