There are reasons that there should be a locking feature for files even with a single user device. This is particularly true for school use and even more for students with autism. If you require a student to do academics, use a device for communication purposes or reference a schedule on an iPad, you want to make sure that the individual does not skip into the motivational apps folder when something else is supposed to be happening. Don't make the assumption that it will be all fine if there was an adult in attendance. There are two reasons that this is not a valid argument. Children with autism (or others as well) will often take a restriction that is external a lot better than someone telling them what to do. If they discover a folder locked, they may simply move on. If someone tells them no, they may not be able to understand. A meltdown could ensue. The other reason is because we want to teach kids to be more independent. If we have to hover as they are going through a schedule, then it is not good for their growth. We need locking folders so we can communicate first ______ then _____ and make it work.

No but there is an alternative for your mac but not your PC.
You could create a second user account and put the adult content into an itunes library there, when you want to watch it open the second user (can be password protected) and start itunes and the library will become accessible from the tv.

I want to be able to restrict access to app folders or to applications themselves...would prefer to just put apps into a folder and password protect it before it opens the folder. is there a way this can be done without jailbreaking the phone...I know there are a few with jailbroken phones though I really dont want to jailbreak phone. I have spent some time looking at the forums and on the internet trying to look for a app that can solve my problem. I wish to be able to turn off internet access. I have been using K9 web protection but have found some flaws and bugs. It is a great idea and works well except for the "block any access between(set time) and (set time)" function.
I want to be able to use my computer with out the worry of access to the internet. In my simplistic ideas I need an app that will simply toggle the AirPort function on and off and password protect it. That way when i dont want the distraction in my own life and when i let the rest of the family are playing games the internet is safely protected.
At this time the ethernet connection is not a problem.
I can simply un plug the router however the neighbours around me don't password protect their connections!
If any one knows of a way to solve this or any alternative solutions please let me know.

Roger not so fast. Check this out: I own a studio with about 8 staff ranging from accounts, editors, creative directors and client services. Sometimes, there's even an intern or an outside contractor present for a period of time. So far we use pages and numbers to handle all the scripts, schedules, shot lists, etc and I'd like to also store some of the admin contents (again, files generated in pages, begging for iCloud), proposals, budgets... They should at the very least, let you password protect a folder.
It's so surprising that Apple doesn't simply extend their now FANTASTIC App/iCloud/Device integration ever so slightly in the direction of the SMALL PRODUCTION HOUSE. I have thouroughly investigated everything from Studiometry to Rule to Evernote. Bloat. Bloat. And more bloat!
Apple while you're at it, offer domain name resolution so we can actually use the email service. Right now half my setup is tangled up with google apps and gmail. I shudder at the thought.

See if that does the trick: I think there's a way for you to request a password for purchases, but still be logged in.

When I set everything up originally through Cisco Connect, I was able to set up a guest account with a password, but it's showing up in my wireless listing as unsecured--you don't need the password to access it. Yes it does appear to be unsecured, but to be able to surf you need the password that Cisco Connect generates.
So No it's not open, but I think they are still connected to the router, and thats not good either.
