Is there an easier way to load songs and albums into itunes library?

I have MP3 files on my computer, is it possible to load songs to my library from the file location itself, rather than opening itunes, then adding it to the library by directing itunes to the folder?

Easier? No idea how File -> Add folder to library could be considered in any way "more difficult" than any of the following but...
Double click the songs.
Drag them to the Automatically add to iTunes folder inside the iTunes media folder.
Drag the top level folder or the entire drive to the iTunes icon.
If iTunes is open, drag the drive, top level folder, lower level folder or file(s) to the library icon in iTunes.

thanks for the reply. guess i'll have to do that. apple, not really happy with what you've done with this latest update. have not been able to enjoy my music in my car since the update. most of us dont mind changes that progress timely, but this was much more than just a progression. this was a complete change. and not a good one, at all. thanks to the two people that replied. appreciate it.

Okay this is what fixed my problem. Some kind of error/glitch occured half-way through importing that third cd that prevented further imports from any other cd. Once I completely removed the half-imported cd album from my library I could further import cd's without any problems.

You can import the clips in the order you want them to play, which would be the quickest.
Or you can put them all in the timeline, then zoom out on the timeline (two finger squeeze).
That makes it easier to hold the clip, and drag it to the start.

Is there an easier way to load a MIDI file in Logic8?

Please, does anyone know how to import a MIDI file into Logic 8 withouthaving to manually reset all the instruments and sounds for each track? I have recently switched to a mac and want to perform along with the MIDI back-tracks I always use, but I don't know how to get Logic to do this w/o spending gobs of time assigning SW instruments for each track in every file (!!). Is there an easier way, or perhaps a better program to do this with? On my PC I can use a GM MIDI player that does this automatically. These are professionally made MIDI files with all program and channel settings built in.

Just use "import" & the sw insts' will load and assign accordingly, automatically.
But oddly, there are times when importing a SMF w/imbedded prgm changes, that LP8 loads a completely wrong instrument to a specific track(s).
One reason that I've kept only one of my trustworthy external midi modules (Roland XV5080), specifically for just importing SMFs'. When the XV is in GM mode, any standard midi files I import to LP8... always load pgm changes correctly 100% of the time.

HT2905 This is all well and good if you only have a Few DUPLICATES in your Library. But what if you have Hundreds, because every time they come out with a New Version of iTunes, you have to Re-Import all of your Songs and Playlists into your Library?

What is the easiest way to Automatically Remove Duplicates from my iTunes Library (instead of doing it one by one, which is unfeasible when there are Hundreds of duplicates from installing the newest version of iTunes, or putting it and all of your songs on a New Computer, and it loosing track of all of your File Folders and Playlists, so you have to re-import everything, hence why the Thousands of Duplicates...
I know there are programs you can BUY that will remove Duplicate Tracks from your iTunes Library, but iTunes is Free, so why should I PAY to fix something that's screwed up about it?

See my tips on duplicates. If iTunes creates duplicates when you add content then it is a failure of the workflow you are using.
Upgrading iTunes should have no adverse effect on your library, however you should maintain a backup regardless.
See also this migrate iTunes library post on moving the library to a new computer properly so that there is no need to reimport any content and no lost ratings, playlists, play counts etc.

Can see songs and albums in iTunes but can't play them

Recently upgraded to OS 10.8, itunes 11.1.2, and OS7 on ipad and iphone. I noticed only purchased songs were showing up now on OS7 devices and trying a variety of settings in tunes sync (sync all songs, sync only checked ones, etc) still wouldn't send over my privately owned (copied from my own CDs) songs.
Then in itunes on Mac, tried to play a song. The album icon and song list are all there, but no song plays when clicking.
My itunes folder is on an external drive. All song and albums are there when I look in finder window. The library is correctly addressed in itunes preferences. I consolidated the library.
In all cases, it looks like all songs are there in itunes, but nothing plays, and nothing syncs over to ipad or ipone. Any ideas?

Is there an easy way to sort songs by the account it was purchased under?

Hello all, having problems syncing iPods to a family-shared library (over 10GB of purchased music) where I have purchased with two iTunes accounts, my wife has purchased with her account, and three of my kids have purchased with their accounts. There are more accounts than an iPod or iPhone will allow to sync. Since there is no known way to merge songs purchased from different accounts into a single account, I am left to try and sort my library into playlists associated with each purchasing account. Problem- there seems to be no easy way within iTunes to sort music by the account it was purchased under. Is there a way within iTunes to do this? Is there a way with a script (I searched dougscripts and could not find anything relevant)? Is there a way with a UNIX command, like GREP, that I could generate a list and then do something with a script or within iTunes?

Any easy way to load different master data into BI?

Hi,
I have started setting up our BI system. I have to load master data for different things - company code, customer, vendor, material etc.
For all of the standard BI Content has InfoObjects, Infosources and Datasources. However, I need to create InfoPackage, Transformation and DTP and process chain for delta load and PSA deletion. This seems to a tedious process to do for all the master data objects.
Is there any different way of doing it?
It seems surprising one has to repeat all these for each BI system.

If you are working on BI 7 then you can always migrate your datasources and migrate data flow accordingly. The only thing you need to take care of LO datasources and transfer rule routines as something they didnt copy.

Is there an easy way to create or import tables into muse

I'm trying to create a website that used tables for things like league tables and results, but I need an easy way of placing them into muse.
I've had a go at creating tables in dreamweaver and importing the resulting html and i've created tables in Indesign and imported them as jpegs, but this obviously then does not allow me to edit on the fly.
Can anybody help.

We hope so. From my experience with indesign cs5.5. The export to HTML feature does not maintain the layout of an indesign document. You will require a developer with knowledge of HTML to style accordingingly in DW. I don't think this is an intended workflow by Adobe. Until then I dont think Muse or Indesign will export to HTML while maintaining the integrity of the layout design including adaptive fluid layout support. The closest the Adobe team have been able to do is to export to epub format.
My observation, Adobe should have given print designers option of exporting indesign files to Muse(With support for fluid/adaptive layout just as the export to epub format is supported). That way the fear of killing another tool in the Adobe bouquet won't arise. Something like 'Export to Muse' in Indesign cs6 would have been the killer. Why? Web design trend is converging with print design metaphor. I think Adobe should be leading that trend now. Tomorrow might be too crowded.

OWB11gR2 - simple and easy way to load XML formatted data into db tables?

we're currently trying to load table data stored in XML files into our datawarehouse using OWB 11gR2.
However, we're finding this is not quite as trivial as loading flat files...
Most postings on this forum points to the blog-entry title "Leveraging XDB" found here (http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/2007/09/leveraging_xdb.html).
This blog also references the zip-file owb_xml_etl_utils.zip, which seems to have disappeared from it's original location and can now be found on sourceforge.
Anyway, the solution described is for OWB 10g, and when trying to import experts from the zip-file etc. we end up not being able to run the "Create ETL from XSD" expert, as the 11gR2 client is different from the 10g and does not have the Experts menu et.al.
Also, this solution was published over 3 years ago, and it seems rather strange that importing XML-formatted data should still be so cumbersome in the newer warehouse builder releases.
The OWB 11gR2 documentation is very sparse (or rather - quite empty) on how to load XML data, all it has is a few lines on "XML Transformations", giving no clue as to how one goes about loading data.
Is this really the state of things? Or are we missing some vital information here?
We'd have thought that with 11g-releases, loading XML-data would be rather simple, quick and painless?
Is there somewhere besides the blog mentioned above where we can find simple and to the point guidelines for OWB 11gR2 on how to load XML-formatted data into Oracle tables?

Yes it is possible to use SQL*Loader to parse and load XML, but that is not what it was designed for and so is not recommended. You also don't need to register a schema, just to load/store/parse XML in the DB either.
So where does that leave you?

Those talk some about storage options and reading in XML from disk and parsing XML. They should also give you options to consider. Without knowing more about your requirements for the effort, it is difficult to give specific advice. Maybe your 7-8 tables don't exist and so using Object Relational Storage for the XML would be the best solution as you can query/update tables that Oracle creates based off the schema associated to the XML. Maybe an External Table definition works better for reading the XML into the system because this process will happen just once. Maybe using WebDAV makes more sense for loading XML to be parsed (I don't have much experience with this, just know it is possible from what I've read on the forums). Also, your version makes a difference as you have different options available depending upon the version of Oracle.
Hope all that helps as a starter.

Can I load songs and photos into an Ipod Nano I have purchased as a gift?

I have purchased an Ipod Nano 2GB as a gift for my 9 year old granddaughter for Xmas.
Before sending it I'd like to load some songs & photos on it, from my own Ipod Library and computer.
I'm concerned that doing this from my computer will only complicate things when they receive the Ipod and then install it on their own computer. The family is not real computer literate and the simpler the better.
What advice does anyone have - best to leave the new Ipod untouched and empty and have the initial install with Itunes/Apple on the computer they will be using? (Windows XP as well)

Personally I think it would be best to leave it. To use an iPod on multiple computers it has to be set to manual update. If your granddaughter wanted to update her iPod automatically (which is the simplest way) whatever you put on would get erased as the songs and pictures wouldn't be on her computer. Why not send along an iTunes gift certificate with it so she can buy some songs she'd like? Import Songs and Playlists Into iTunes 10.5 From Existing iTunes Library

Hi Everybody.
I am sure this is easy but it hasn't worked for me.
I had to install a new hard drive and installed iTunes 10.5 onto it.
I now want to import my songs and playlists from my external drive into iTunes.
I tried to consolidate library but only 1800 of 7000 songs came over.
None of the playlists come over when I import playlists except 90s music, classical music, music videos,etc. ie none of my playlists.
Am I missing the obvious here.
Please help becuase I have tried around 40 times!

does your computer got Quicktime? if not then that might be the cause of it as i've got my issue solved by installing it.
