In 10gR2, we used
crs_stat -tto check the status of cluster. Is there an enhanced equivalent of this command in 11.2 ?

Is there a Mac equivalent of the Windows Live Mail client?

(If anyone reading isn't familiar with Windows Live Mail, please look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WindowsLiveMail to see what I mean. Please don't suggest clients like Microsoft Entourage etc as they're not what I'm looking for!)
I used to have a Windows laptop and used the Windows Live Mail client to manage my Hotmail accounts. It was brilliant as it synchronised exactly with webmail (all folders present and correct, if I deleted an email on the webmail it would delete from the programme and vice versa, etc) and did this with as many email accounts as I liked - so I could access all three from the same screen. Perfect!
When I got a Macbook I discovered that Windows Live Mail wasn't available for Mac. I spent a couple of weeks looking for a suitable alternative but never found one.
I'm aware of how to use Hotmail in a regular mail client but I've not found one exactly the same as Windows Live Mail. There's always a problem with synchronisation between the client and webmail, I can only get the inboxes imported and no other folders synchronise which is a pain as I don't always use my laptop to read my email - if I read it elsewhere using webmail and move an email from the inbox to another folder, I'd have to do a second time when I next use my laptop. Hence I don't bother and just use webmail instead - but I hate logging in and out of three accounts!
As it's been ages since I last looked, I thought I'd look again - but I still can't find anything that works the way I want.
Is there a Mac equivalent of Windows Live Mail (http://download.live.com/wlmail)? Something that works in exactly the same way? I wish Windows weren't so childish and would just release a version of this for Mac... it's pretty much the only thing I miss from my old laptop!

In few words, "No." There is no such client for the Mac. The closest you may find would be to try the Mac MSN client, aMSN - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - but it's essentially just a messenger clone. I doubt it includes a Live Mail client.

I couldn't help but notice that my mac keyboard doesn't have a "Prt Scn" button the way a Windows Keyboard does. I ask this because sometimes as I play UT2004, I like to get screen caps of the game itself. I no longer have a PC and I wish to continue to get screen caps of the game. Is there a mac equivalent to this? Or what else can I do?

Well there is a screen capture in the game itself, I think it's one of the "F" keys. Look in the manual.
On a Mac a full screen capture can be invoked with a Apple (Command) Shift 3. Of course you'll have to quit to see it if your in UT2004 full screen mode. I don't know where UT2004 dumps it's screen capture at. Possible both on the desktop (wallpaper) where it should go.
There is also a Command Shift 4, which will give you a cross-hairs to select a part of the screen.
Combining any of the above with Control will place it right in the clipboard for pasting in your favorite program that can display it.

If you like UT2004 like I do, you know you can add a $hitload of maps and mods to what you get from the disks. I got a few hundred different maps myself.
First what you have to do is visit the UT2004 site and download the latest Mac update with Editor's Choice Bonus Pack combination.
It's kind of hard to find as it's not on some of the mirrored sites.

Download and run this baby, you'll need the cd in at first but after that you won't need the cd anymore. You'll also get more maps and neat new vehicles.

find which one you like and download it. There are TONS
Now to install it. Select the original UT2004 app in Applications folder and hold control key while clicking on it. A menu will popup which you select "open package contents" (the app is really a folder!)
Now you unzip the download and place similar extension files in the respective folders. I would start off with .ut2 that goes into Maps folder.
.usx goes into StaticMeshes folder
.utx goes into Textures folder
and so on, some downloads will include a text file so you put the correct files in the correct folders. (Like System for instance) Some downloads include their files in folders with the respective destination it's supposed to go into. Just take them out and place them in liked named ones in the UT2004 folder.
UT2004 seems to place new maps/mods at the bottom of the list when you go to select them in the game itself.
UT2004 will give days and days of repeated enjoyment, unlike other games that get worn-out once you've played them through.
Also when you get a chance, learn how to clone that boot drive of yours to a external drive for safekeeping. It takes so long to start over from scratch rebuilding in case of a hard drive failure, corruption or whatnot.
Cloning has to be done with software like Carbon Copy Cloner. Once you do it, you can hold option and boot directly off of it in case something goes wrong with your primary boot drive. Repair, recover or just erase and reverse clone the whole drive back over! It really is a lifesaver.

You "Zero" a new drive by using Disk Utility, select the drive and Erase with Zero option and format HFS+. It's very highly recommended for the best reliable writes to your drive.

Motion 2...Is There a Matchmove Equivalent?

Hello.
I just inherited Final Cut Studio (Not Final Cut Studio 2). It comes with Motion 2. Is there a matchmove equivalent in Motion 2? I want to have a particle follow someone's movement and think that is the way to go about having it work. Just not sure HOW to pull it off in Motion 2. Is matchmove, or an equivalent, the way to go?

What you describe is close, but you really don't want to play it back while doing it. The steps are:
1) Enable record.
2) Go to the first frame, position the particles where it should be.
3) Jump forward 10 frames (shift-right arrow)
4) Position the particles where you want them.
Repeat steps 3-4 until you get to the end. Then go back and play it, and if you see something off, stop and reposition the particle emitter on just those frames. Make sure the record button is on the entire time you're making keyframes, and when you're done, turn it off.
Again, I wouldn't use play/pause for this, it'll be really hard to get it to line up that way and it creates way too many keyframes. However, if you're the adventurous type, and you really want to try to do this in real-time, then I would suggest turning OFF the emitter in the Timeline, then enable record, go to the beginning, position the cursor where the emitter is supposed to be, and press play. Then immediately start dragging the emitter around to follow the clip. Again, this probably won't give you good results, but it might be fun to try.

There have been lot of enhancements incorporated in BPC 7.0
1. BPC 5.1 was running either on SQL 2000 or SQL 2005. However, BPC 7.0 works on SQL 2005 or SQL 2008. The preferred one is SQL 2008, since the performance is much better.
2. Because of the change in the SQL version, BPC 5.1 was able to support DTS packages alongwith DTSX. However, BPC 7.0 supports only DTSX packages.
3. The logic debugger is in place to debug the script logics.
4. While processing the dimension, there is an option for validating the dimension logics written.
Hope this gives you some idea on the enhancements.

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent to setFocusable in Java 1.3? My school computers have Java 1.3 (ridiculously outdated) and we don't have priveledges to install 1.4 or 1.5... and the sysadmins are too lazy to update the image ;).

Love iPhoto but is there a PC equivalent

I'm loving producing great calendars and books using iPhoto '11 and friends are amazed at the quality and ease of production on my imac. One friend has asked, who's not ready to move to the holy world of mac, is there a PC equivalent to iPhoto as he'd like to do something similar on his PC. I suggested probably, that's one reason I bought my 27" mac, but I'm not sure.
So, does anyone know if anything exists that's as clever and great as iPhoto but for the PC?

On second thought, from my previous post which is still the best answer , they might look at Google's Picassa software which is sort of iPhoto-ish. Plus it is free, so no harm giving it a try.

Are there any memory restrictions when using Invoke-Command?

Hi, I'm using the Invoke-PSCommandSample workbook to run a batch file inside a VM.
The batch file inside the VM runs a Java program.
The batch file works fine, when I run it manually in the VM.
However, when I use the Invoke-PSCommandSample workbook to run the batch file, I get the following error:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
errorlevel=1
Press any key to continue . . .
Does anybody know if there are any memory restrictions when invoking commands inside a VM via runbook?

TS4006 is there a way to undo the "Erase" command before the deletion starts?

is there a way to undo the "Erase" command before the deletion starts while the phone is turned off. In my case the erase is pending the phone being turned on. Now that I have found the phone, I don't want the deletion to happen. How can I undo the command before turning on the iPhone?

There's no way to block the remote wipe. But once it's been wiped, you can perform a restore from your backup on either icloud or itunes.

I was wondering if there special URLs that are the equivalent to backward/forward. My backward and forward work fine and I know about Alt-LeftArrow and Alt-RightArrow.

Is there an Audition equivalent of volume leveling?

I spend a lot of time editing long interviews, and unfortunately the microphones in our studio are set to drastically different volumes (not something I can easily correct due to limitations in our board and the way the studio was built). So I usually have to fix these differences in audio levels using extensive volume envelopes in Audition 2.0. I do this by either raising the track volume or clip volume, and then using the envelope automation points to dip where necessary.
This can be really time-consuming, and it seems to me that there's got to be a better way. I've tried using the multiband compressor built-in to Audition 2, but it sounds rather unnatural (a lot of "pumping" action) compared to using envelopes. Hard limiting helps, but only to a certain extent -- again envelopes really get the job done more naturally (though it takes so long to do). I've also tried to use The Levelator, but again it can sound artificial and rather compressed (pumping) at times. Also, it does not appear to play well with music, if present during the interview.
One option I've found interesting is Audacity's "leveller" function. This effect makes quiet passages louder and loud passages quieter -- and it sounds more natural. I understand that Adobe's Soundbooth has an equivalent "Volume Correction" function that can match the volume levels within a single audio clip.
So my question is: Is there an equivalent function in Audition 2.0 that can do this? If not, are there an VST or DirectX plugins that can achieve this result? Curious to hear your thoughts.

But according to AudioArts web site, the D75 has four mic preamps "as standard".
That hardly seems to equate with the problem being discussed here especially given the quote above!
Edit: Checking again the web site, the input level range for the mic inputs is described as "Adjustable -70 to -31 dBu". Is the output of those EVs not enough for these inputs?

Autotext function in Word - is there a Pages equivalent?

I use the autotext function in Word a lot to save keystrokes, but cannot find an equivalent in Pages. No-one else has raised this so I may be missing something really easy.

There's an Auto-Correction feature in Preferences whose intention is really to correct misspelled words. But there's no reason it can't be used to automate keystrokes.
