Is there an equivalent of COCONUT battery for Panther USERS?

I've saved a lot to buy my PB a new battery, and I want the most out of it as much as possible. I've been hearing about this COCOBattery that enables US to determine the number of cycles that the battery had already been charged/discharged (not sure) and some other stuffs for battery maintenance. I wonder if there was anything like this for PANTHER? Coz from my search, it is only for TIGERS.
On top of all these, I would like to make sure if APPLE JAPAN, has sold me a good battery. Since it has a 1 year warranty, I could use the time to really figure out if the battery serves its factory specifications, and I need an equivalent of that COCOBattery for my Panther. Thanks!

You may have read Apple's note on maintaining notebook batteries already, which is at http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html. Note that Apple says a properly maintained battery should retain 80% of it's capacity after 300 charge/discharge cycles.

I am not technical person... but wanted to if anybody has experienced the following problem:-
When logging into any account i get the following message:- There are no active responsibilities available for this user
No i have looked the threads posted and most advise to run the WF_SYNCHRONIZE_LOCAL_TABLES concurrent request.. if i run this through toad or UNIX as i can’t get into forms i always seem to get the following message which could be playing a part in my initial problem.....ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ktsircinfo_num1], [9], [33], [52844], [], [], [], []

Is the system in maintenance mode, by any chance ? You put the app in maintenance mode when applying patches. If you connect as the apps database user, what does this sql statement return ?

Is there a rechargeable plug in battery for ipod?

Hey,
I was just wondering if there is any type of compact (on the small side, not bulky) rechargeable battery for the new 5G ipod w/ video that can plug into the bottom in order to extend playback time? I looked around but couldnt find one. This seems like a product that would really sell so I'm surprised I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for any help.

there is an external battery pack from belkin and it runs off of AA batteries and it is awesom 4 AA gives it about 20 hours of playback time. It is great

HT4783 I know air drop is enabled on this iMac, but it's not appearing in the finder window on my user account. Is there a way to enable it for my user account?

You will find demos and trials for a number of DTP applications at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Apple also sells iWork (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) that can also be used for similar purposes. Then there are the free Open Source Neo Office and Open Office both of which are roughly similar to Microsoft Office 2003/07. Another version of Open Office is Libre Office.

A tip for Panther users having trouble with Safari!

I have found it! I have found a browser that works with all websites I've used in the last couple of days. The browser works on my iBook G4 with OS X Panther and on my 9-year-old iMac G3 (bought the year they came out with colors other than Bondi Blue -- I own lime) that I upgraded from OS 9 to OS X Panther about five years ago.
Problem: Neither computer is able to use a Safari version that is newer than 1.3.2 due to OS and hardware compatibility issues. That STUNK because Safari was becoming more and more incompatible with many of my most frequented websites.

Several people suggested various things to me, but the best suggestion came from Yahoo! (My husband couldn't access his Yahoo! email account on my iMac and Yahoo! gave him suggestions to try.)
Here is the SOLUTION: SeaMonkey!
I'm using the only version of SeaMonkey the website offers for Macs, which is, I think, 1.12 or something like that. (I'm on my husband's PC right now so I can't check.) It's made by Mozilla who also makes Firefox, so you can have that groovy personal toolbar at the top that keeps links to your favorite "Favorites" right up at the top of the screen. (I love that toolbar on my husband's PC, which runs Firefox.)
Browsers I had tried but that didn't work perfectly with all sites:
Opera (8.54 and 9.6)
iCab
Firefox (I couldn't even get it to open after I downloaded it!)
IE (Always avoid this browser if you can help it.)

I use Camino on our few remaining Panther machines and its overall feel is much more like Safari, but opens sites that defy Safari. It's also a Mozilla product and much "leaner" than some of the other Mozilla browsers, another factor that makes it nice for older Macs.

and still runs on OS 10.3.9. Firefox ran on Panther until they hit version 3; that's why it didn't work for you.

2.1 Battery Better (for most users)? & Apps Not Crashing, True? Worth it?

Does it really fix these things? And how can Apple claim it fixes the battery for (most) users, are there phones with different batteries and or hardware? And more important, are the Apps not crashing to the Apple logo? Calls not dropping, really?

no idea about any of these things all i want to know is if it fixed the txt sound not working and what on earth is the 2 txt sounds mean?? im assuming if u dont look at ur txt it will sound again???, ive checked 3g its still sh1t here even tho im in a huge 3g area apparently but i didnt have many probs with last update so who knows

Battery for Curve

Hi there, I bought a new battery for my blackberry curve 8300 because the other one was causing the phone to shut off after a few minutes on a phone call. But now this new one is not recognising the sim card. Very weird and I tried everything, I'm also going back to where I bought the battery from to ask for a replacement. Anyone have any idea what the problerm might be?

That is the correct battery, I would get a full backup, wipe the phone, and return it to the vendor as a workmanship
default. Make sure you receive a new rather that refurbished phone.
Use this procedure to get the phone ready to swap.

Configure "Always hide forms document message bar" and "Do not show edit warnings" for all users?

We need to do a mass deployment of Adobe Reader XI 11.0.3 with "Always hide forms document message bar" preference setting automatically set for every user so they do not have to go through the menu and set it manually.
Is there a way to configure this for all users with the customization wizard or another method?
We also need to do the same for "Do not show edit warnings"
If these are registry keys, which registry keys set these options?

If that doesn't work and there's a configuration item in the preferences UI, do this:
Get regshot.
Close everything but Acrobat/Reader.
Take a reg shot.
Configure the setting via the UI.
Tak another reg shot.
Compare the two.
That process will give you your answer.
If there is no corresponding pref in the UI, then you probably can't do it.

Is there a option to enable save for all users in a rich client document defaultly for all users across the company. As the users who are creating reports are forgetting to check the box before sending the rich client document to others. Kindly let me know if you have any suggestions on this.

I'd suggest that is is where your BO folder structure comes in. You can export from Rich Client to any folder that you have permissions to access - some sort of collaboration folder system would potentially be better and more secure than sending unsecured reports via email. If your IT security team found out that you were removing document security, I doubt they'd be impressed!
You can't do the default save for all users, simple as that (it's bad practice anyway, which is probably why you can't). While it's not the answer that you want to hear, it is the correct one.

One Library for all users on the system - Sharing?

I'm using iTunes 9.0.3 on OS X 10.6.2. On this system, there are TWO users, one for my wife, one for me. I'd like to "merge" the seperate iTunes libraries, so that there's only one shared library for all users.
How could this be achieved?
Searching the web, I found a writeup on [dougscripts.com by Paul Whitey|http://dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/sharedlib.php], which basically explains to move ~/Music/iTunes to /Users/Shared/iTunes and making sure that there's an alias in ~/Music pointing to /Users/Shared/iTunes. It also explains, that the ownership of the files & folders is to be changed so, that all users have read & write access. This then looks like this on my system:

It works good - both "alex" and "sandra" can work with these files (ie. move them, rename them, change ID3 tags).

That's from files which sandra or alex have added later on. Only the one who added these files can modify them (which is of course correct, if you have a look at the file permissions).
How would you go about having only ONE iTunes database on the system? Simply putting the iTunes Db on a shared folder doesn't work well, as can be seen above. Always having to fiddle around with the file permissions isn't exactly comfortable…
Any suggestions?

Hm. PowerTunes crashs, when I make it Share my library. I pasted the crash report at http://pbox.ca/13gwy
Since I cannot know how/if would work (because of the crash…), please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it also just move the files to /Users/Shared and set permissions correctly? Wouldn't I need to keep on running PowerTunes from time to time, or is it "run once and forget" application (if it works)?

SSO installation for all users

Hello,
When I install the SAP SSO, it is being installed just for the current user, which means if I have a laptop that travel between several users on the company I work for, I need to install the SSO for each user individually.
Is there a way of installing SSO for all users?
My scenario is this, I deploy windows using MDT (Microsoft deployment) and install SSO as part of the deployment process.
When i login with the admin user that i used for installing windows, I see SSO in programs and features, but when login with a different user, I don't see SSO in programs and features.

You only need to install it once. Make sure java is in their PATH for their shell's .profile.

Mac Multiple Users - How to exclude for some users?

Hi,
I have BBDM installed on a Mac with multiple users. A couple of those are children so I have Parental controls turned on, and BBDM excluded from their available list. However, when they log in BBDM is trying to sync artwork or something and continues to request administrator passwords many many times. When I install the BBDM in the Destination Select segment it asks whether to install for all users, but there is no choice to exclude for some users.
Is there a way to do this?

Can't setup Tooltalk session for mulitple users

I want to create a single tooltalk session that can be shared by a dynamic number of users. How would I set this up? What is difference between xauth and ttauth? I tried to join remote sessions and create/send messages using ttsnoop, but I get TT_ERR_SESSION. The /.TTauthority is in our home directory and is shared by all users. However, we cannot see each others sessions. I've read a lot of documentation out there with no solution nor examples for multiple users, so please help!

I don't think the latest Sun Studio tools use tooltalk anymore.
I think there is a CDE development environment for Linux,
perhaps that software has a support forum with people who know
more about tooltalk. I don't know where else to ask. If there
are "desktop" related forums on opensolaris.org, you might find
people there who know more.
