  • No instant messaging app on my N8

Hi there, I bought my N8 two days ago and I realized there is no instant messaging app or widget!
I read in specs that N8 is having integrated instant messaging and I also watched official Nokia videos on YouTube showing the behavior of the app and of the widget.
So the question is : how come I am not having the instant messaging app and widget on my Nokia N8?

When selecting N8 as device here http://messaging.nokia.com it clearly says that
Your Nokia Phone has IM built in.
..and it suggest that I should watch a video for getting started. In that video I see an icon that is not present on my N8, and that's the IM icon!
yer, i can confirm its missing from mine. the vid shows the app in the root folder but its not there!! all i can imagine is that it'll be in the next firmware update (hopefully with Swype). the networks get the handset on the 22nd and i bet an update will be out before it ships to them?

  • Cannot connect to instant messaging apps

My batterey recently lost power on my Curve 9300 and since I have recharged it, it will not let me access any of the instant messaging apps such as yahoo messenger, MSN or AIM. The apps are there but when I try to login it never gets past the  "Connecting to Yahoo!" stage ~ I have uninstalled and reinstalled, adjusted firewall and encryption and rebooted but nothing seems to work. My internet access is fine, just accessing the instant message apps is the problem ~ if anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Just for fun, resend the service books to your phone by following these steps:

Let us know if that helps you.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Using instant message apps

    Hi folks ..
I'm using the iPhone 4 and i'm trying to get in touch with my friends on instant message apps. The apps work fine, but as soon as i hit the "apple" button (or whatever it is called, the one at the bottom) to get to the "desktop" of my phone and I or the phone shuts down the screen it logs off my apps, which means that i cannot get people to write me whenever im not sitting staring at the app.
That doesnt seem very well though out, so there got to be a way to fix this.. Anyone know how?
    Kind regards
    Christian

Its an actual app(like IM+ etc.). And it does the same for every app(I have tried several), so i'm thinking it is a generic setting in the phone, that prevents me from keeping me logged in. Its just what?

  • Instant Messaging app

hiya. i'm looking for a free instant messaging app so i can chat with my friends from yahoo, gmail and windows instant messenger. thanks.

Its an OS feature built to save power. So whenever the iPod locks itself (screen goes blank) It will go into power save mode, so shuts down the Wifi link etc. I think some apps have "stay connected" options or you may set the ipod to never lock itself in iPod settings. Not sure though. Thats why they are enabling push notifications in the new iPhone OS 3.0. I think meebo has already come up with an app where you can stay logged in even if the iPod locks out. You will be notified if you get an im etc and the no of messages will be shown in a bubble just like mail.
You can try "Fring" app if you like.

  • What is the best instant messaging app ?

What is the best Instant message appplication for the iPhone 4 ?

The best IM app is the one that the most of your friends have. No point in an IM app unless you have people to talk to. There are those very sad people who out their Live Profile IDs in the app reviews but, unless you want to be one of them, find out what your friends use.

  • I have an iPad mini and there is no messaging app.

When I go to setting there is no messaging selection in the menu.  This ipad was provided by my company.  Is it possible they removed this app? Can I get it back?

If it's not turned off in restrictions, it is certainly possible your employer has blocked this in your device.  There was a thread this week where a childs school iPad no longer had the Message App, when it previously did.  They finally found out the school turned off messaging and there's no way the device can be used to message anymore.  Again, if it's not turned off in restrictions, ask your employer.

  • HELP 5300 instant messaging app

My phone restarts every now and then at random times varying from after sending a text message to quiting an application. It's not that big of a deal to me.
However, it restarted yesterday and this time, I was missing my IM application and the help button from the main menu.
Any clue on how to get my menu back to normal?

Try a Jabber server, with Exodus for the client. Works every day 7 by 24 for us. Logging of chats occurs on the client so archiving is a problem. That is the only downside for us. I just may not have found a server side solution that is already available.

  • App similar to Blue Mountain etc for BB?

Sometimes I will receive messages from friends composed of a moving graphic or some music or both. Where do these come from? Is there an app available that does this or anything similar that you can subscribe to?

There is no app available for the iPhone that provides this for free. There is a messaging app called WhatsApp that requires internet access for exchanging messages. Each iPhone must have the app installed, and there is a Blackberry version. You can exchange text messages only, or exchange photos, an audio note, share your location, or share a contact. Whatever data is used exchanging texts or anything else that is supported is charged at international roaming rates for the data received and sent.

  • How to activate Instant Messaging in Outlook 2010

    Hi,
I have a very bad habit of Instant Messaging. Currently, I am using
Microsoft Outlook 2010. Is there any instant messaging feature in Outlook? If yes, then please help me out in configuring it and using it.
    Thank you friends.

    Hi Peter,
You question is very unique and interesting. I would like to answer your query. We can very easily activate and access the Instant Messaging feature in Microsoft Outlook. Just follow the below mentioned steps: -
    Click on File---->Options---->Contacts.
A window with the name "Online Status and Photographs" will pop up on the screen. Select the check box of the options
"Display online status next to name".
By this, you will be able to use the Outlook Instant Messaging feature. Let me know, if you face any other issue.

  • Instant Messaging Service Questions

I am a new Mac user and have Microsoft Office for Mac installed on my new MacBook, and I have some questions regarding MSN for Mac.
As it turns out, the MSN for mac lacks many of the features present the PC version (my primary concern is with my lack of ability to make video calls through the application. I have downloaded a program called Skype, but what I would really like to know is:
    (a) is there a way that I can perform video calls on MSN for Mac, or
    (b) is there an instant messaging service that I could download that would be compatible with contacts made through other services (MSN, AOL, Google, Yahoo, Skype, etc.)?
I also have some unanswered questions farther back in this forum. I would greatly appreciate any help you might be able to provide with any of these.

You can do video chats on Yahoo messenger for mac. You can also add your hotmail list in the contact address too. For this visit http://www.yahoo.com and then click on messenger and it would automatically give you the option to download the messenger for mac. Later drag the Yahoo Icon to application menu and get going.
    Do let me know.
    Regards
    Vikram
