I have 3 years of Experience in SAP ABAP. Now i got an oppertunity to work on SAP IS oil and Gas. I don't have any Idea on IS oil and gas. how to start learn and is i am the suitable person to learn with ABAP knowledge. I have only one advantage that my educational back  ground is Geophysics(Studay abt how to explore oil and gas ). Is my educational background advantage for me?
Our company people told me to decide in a week wether i am intrested or not.
if i am willing to start on IS oil and gas, which one is best for me.
    could anybody suggest me.
    Thanks,
    Mythily Guptha

    Hi Mythily,
If you already know something about explortion of oil, then you will find PRA (production and revenue acconting) interesting. This module deals with exploration of oil and gas and then distributing the revenue to owners.
You can find detailed information in help.sap.com. Follow the link given below for PRA help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_oil46csp2/helpdata/en/ec/9d2c3adcc8431be10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Reading some of the material will give you more clarity whether you like it or not.
And it is perfectly fine to have ABAP knowledge, that will help in going deep into Oil and gas.

  • SAP S/4 HANA for Oil and Gas

    Hi All,
When SAP is announcing its road map for SAP S/4 HANA for Oil and Gas strategy. Which functionalities they are keeping from R/3, which they are dropping and which they are adding. How they are planning to simplify this area!!
    Cheers

    Dear Phillip,
Cloud enabled software can be easily deployed on-premises but not vice versa.
this could probably be the deciding factory, for every customer : - )
no one would want to block their future...
so even for on-premise, its better to start with cloud and go for hybrid model and i believe
    if this lock is there.....
then every on-premise solutions will have a cloud solution.....
want to see your argument on, any one thinking, i want only on-premise, and i will not be needing
cloud solutions in near future..... also for hybrid customers, cloud first and then on-premise would be pain area.

  • Oil and Gas Client Discussion on PRA Processes

    Hello
My customer, a major company in the oil and gas industry, would like to obtain some key functional/application contacts, for a Client to Client call.  The outline of the call(s) will be to discuss certain: process overview, (ii) process pain points, (iii) process compare for best practices, alleviations of pain points.  My client envisions these cross-calls in the future on various topics, again to help understand and share how other customers execute a process, understand where and why there are difference, etc.
The first area of interest is PRA.
    Areas of Interest/SubAreas
    PRA>Division of Interest (DOI) transfers
    maintenance, JV and Reporting
    PRA>Prior Period Adjustments
    PRA>Checkwrite process and Reporting
REQUEST:  For each sub request above, would you be willing to join a discussion to share the details of your (or client's) process.

Recommend you connect with Stephane Lauzon - if you haven't already done so -  in our Oil & Gas Industry Solutions Management team responsible for this area of solutions and get connected with the customers and workstreams within the Integrated Digital Oilfield Operations community he co-manages with leads from the Industry at HESS and ConocoPhillips.

  • Best Practice for Oil and Gas Field Data Capture

    Hi All
What is the best practice to capture volume data of Oil and Gas commodities in SAP? There is a solution [FDC|http://help.sap.com/miicont-fdc] that address the requirements however what parameters it asks, whats the process and how it calculates different variables isn't provided over the resource center.
    Appreciate any response.
    Regards
    Nayab

    Hi Zack,
It will be easier for you to maintain the data in a single application. Every application needs to have the category dimension, mandatorily. So, you can use this dimension to maintain the actual and plan data.
    Hope this helps.

  • SOLAR01 - BPR content for Oil and Gas - JVA processes

    Hello
We are dealing with the creation of the structure (scenario, processes and steps) for a Oil and Gas project trying to use BPR.  In order to locate the right process we are dealing with Solution Composer, with configuration variants from the Oil and Gas Soluton Map.  We are not able to find any of those processes in the BPR.  We look any process with joint or venture words in it but there is none.  We have Solman 7.01, stack 25 and ST-ICO 150 level 27 (the latest available)
    Any suggestions?
    Regards
    Esteban Hartzstein

    Hi Vinay,
This entirely a business and consulting decision. In general its good to have different templates for bulk fuels, Crudes, Packed lubes/Gas, and aviation. This still depends on the volume of business in a particular line.

  • Performance of EHP4 Oil and Gas instance during interface loads

I have EHP4 running usage type Oil and Gas running on unix 64 bit.
I have noticed the swap space usage increasing in the OS level.
How can I find which processes are consuming swap space and not releasing the swap space.
Where can I find out which user or which process is consuming swap space?
    Thanks
    Weyland Y.

Here is how to monitor memory usage within the SAP instance.
You can use transaction SM04 -> Goto -> Memory to see memory used per user. And you can use transaction SM50 -> double click on a running process to see the actual memory used by that process.
Besides that, you can use transaction ST02 to see the overall memory used (Extended and Heap memory are the most interesting):
    SAP Memory      Curr.Use % CurUse[KB] MaxUse[KB]
    Roll area            0.06        160     13,520
    Page area            0.02         56     61,272
    Extended memory     12.61    129,024    156,672
    Heap memory                        0          0

  • SD and Oil and Gas IS

    Hi Every one,
Can some share their knowledge of SD and Oil and gas IS. How different is SD from Oil and Gas IS, and does understanding of SD helps in Oil and Gas IS.?
    I shall be grateful.
    Thanks.
    VM

Yes the knowledge of SD is used in OIL and GAS as the basic remains the same only the terminology changes and there is a huge difference in material master
for e.g. in normal SD we have the UOM as GM or KG where as in the OIL and GAS the UOM is something different.

  • Oil and Gas

We' re implementing Oil & Gas and I would like to know where I can find Oil-specific sales and purchasing data? Which ones are the InfoCubes to have SD and purchasing info specific to IS-OIL.
    Thanks in advance.
    Patricia.

I appreciate your help Jorge. I saw that documentation before, the only issue is for example in table vbkd that is a lot of fields starting with 0OI_* (means Oil and Gas module) that I can't find where they will be extracted for BI. The standard SD does not have this fields and lcan't find anything in  the documentation of Oil and Gas about this either.
    Thanks again!
Regards and I still need help!
    Patricia.
