Is there an international data plan for Ipad3 with Verizon?

Can I use ipad3 in Caribbean on Verizon? II don't see an international plan as an option. I have used it in the past on ipad1 with AT&T .

Keep in mind that your iPad is unlocked and capable of running off any GSM. Like you, I also have the prepaid plan. When I went to Canada in April, I got a 3G SIM from a local carrier at a very reasonable price. Just popped out my Verizon SIM and put it in a safe place, popped in the Bell Alliant SIM and was good to go.

  • No international data plan for one year-???

Here is the background.  I moved over to Verizon about 4 months ago from Alltel.  I did this because I wanted to be able to have a blackberry with international BBm'ing.  I did not go with ATT because there coverage was spotty in my area.  Since the move, I would say my Alltel coverage was 3x better then the cuurent verizon in my house even with the network extender ( BB don't work well with network extender compare to droids, according to the VZW reps).  I did not stay with Alltel because they did not have the storm2.  I needed 6 lines and a mifi and the local verizon rep told me no problem that they could do one primary line and 5 additonal line plus the mifi but after I signed up they realized that I maxed out at 5 lines on one account and they made me make my 6th line a primary line and then added the mifi to the 2nd account.  More costs per month.  Within a month of having my VZW account, one of my kid went to China and we were able to add the international data plan for her trip so she could BBM us.  No problems.
Here is the problem.  I am going abroad in 2 days and would like to put the international data plan on 2 phones for the trip.  The rep says he cannot do becaue the polciies have changed with the "xerox" buyout and they won't let me do it for the following reasons.
    1.  I have not had my phones for more than one year even though I paid a deposit on them
    2. I have 7 lines on one account- not true I have one account with 1 primary line and 4 additional lines and I have another account with one primary line and the mifi account.  they are all billed on the same statement.  If they are all "one account" then VZW owes me a refund on the 2nd account's primary line as they cannot have it both ways.
We came to verizon for the purpose of BBM’ing when going international and now we cannot use it.  I am paying over $500.00 a month and have not been late on any payments, paid a deposit on the phones, am paying for 2 primary lines and did this a few weeks ago for my daughter and now I cannot add the international option again for a week of vacation abroad?  This is really upsetting and pretty much the last straw if it does not get resolved before this trip.  I should have stayed at Alltel or went to ATT and got an I phone because this is no better.    The rep I talked too was bedeviled by this policy and went two levels up in supervisors and was denied.  They are supposed to call me to resolve this issue tonight or in the morning.
    {word filter avoidance}

    Update:
I got a call from my local rep at the store where I bought all the phones.  She said they called corporate and all blocks on my international data plan have been removed?  I will stop by this afternoon and confirm that it has all been done???? I still cannot believe how many hoops I will have had to jump through to get this done as it was done 2 months ago, if it actually gets done.
If it does not get done then i will be requesting to be let out of my contract for breach of contract on Verizon's part as it was never told to me that I could not have international service for one year after signing up and we were able to do it within a month of signing up initially.  Will post updates

  • Why won't verizon sell me an international data plan for my new iPad?

Why won't verizon sell me an international data plan for my new iPad?

Thanks for your response Meg. Verizon is definitely not customer friendly.  I do have the monthly prepaid domestic data service that I subscribed to from my iPad when I bought it a few months ago.  They didn't advise me of any other available plans at the time.  You are correct that they are now saying that in order to get an international plan I need to cancel my current monthly plan through one Verizon department (and abandon any remaining data mb) and then subscribe to a contract plan (handled by a different verizon department).  But here's the catch: in order to get international service I need to be a contract customer for six months (which doesn't help me as I am going to Europe next week).  Of course, if I had bought an ATT iPad I wouldn't be shut out like this since their monthly international plans are readily available through the iPad at any time.  I feel that Apple and Verizon should not have touted the new Verizon iPad as comparable to ATT's internationally (which they did) without fully disclosing the hoops one has to jump through.

  • What happened to International Unlimited Data Plan for $64.99?

I am confused about international data plans,
I get that the $64.99 unlimited international data plan
is probably gone even if you were able to grandfather in the
    unlimited $29.99 data plan currently.
I understand that Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, and even Europe
have $30 to $100 dollar tiered data plans. But how about Asia?
Specifically I am wondering about JAPAN.
I was using a global 3G Motorola Droid 2 in January 2011 on
a unlimited data plan for $64.99 because Japan uses CDMA.
All I see on Verizon's website is that Japan seems to now
only be data accessible via a $20/MB pay per MB system
with any smartphone including an iPhone 4.
    So thats it?!
The "Occasional Global Traveler" doesn't have any global value plans other than the ones I already can access???
(I don't want to risk losing the unlimited $30 data plan on my smartphone)
Theres no option for me to prepay for international data allowance, at ANY price???
(I'm surprised Verizon doesn't extend the same data allowances in Asia as they do for Europe, Canada, & Mexico now)
My only other option is to have my phone unlocked to work with international 3G SIM cards from other countries???
(I get that this is likely a cheaper option anyway than going thru Verizon, but what a hassel)
4G LTE is the next wireless global standard that Verizon leads the way in, so why limit its potential with 3G???
(Cutting back on 3G global data roaming capability will only choke 4G adoption around the world, am I wrong?)
So Verizon wants me to use Wi-Fi when roaming, well Wi-Fi doesn't give me voice calls using my cell number right???
(Skype, Google Voice, Tango, Gizmo5, and TruPhone are cool but doesn't do what I need, am I asking for too much?)
I am in need of a non-third party work around solution backed by a reputable company like Verizon please.
    Thank you,
    churabunny

Yes, that really is the way to go.   It is only a little hassle. Getting it unlocked is easy if you are a Verizon customer (the many complaints on here come from people trying to get it unlocked abroad, which seems to be hard because of a change verizon made).  Then, depending where  you go, you need a local SIM or a regional SIM.  In some places this is very easy, others a little harder.
But the savings are large.  I did this even before the global plan went away a voice calls are so much cheaper with local SIMs.
(Using my D2G now in the UK, data and voice work fine with a local SIM, just having a little trouble with Wifi, not sure why!)

  • Is there ANYWAY for Loyal Customers to get 4GB data plan for $30

Is there ANYWAY for Loyal Customers to get 4GB data plan for $30. I just got a new upgrade, but I really want the 4GB, because 2GB is very little (for a Smartphone and its multiple capabilities). PLEASE HELP VERIZON!!!!
    - from your LOYAL customers.

Did you upgrade to a 4G phone? The double data deal is only for 4G phones.
Additionally, this is for ALL 4G phones, even if you are not upgrading. If you currently have a 4G phone which is on the 2GB tiered plan, you can sign into My Verizon and change it to the double data deal. At least it will let me change a 4G phone I have which was purchased last May to the double data deal.

  • HT4157 I want to set up my data plan for my iPad however I am in Germany for the next 3 months.  Will this plan work the same here as it would in the US?  Is there anything I would need to do in addition to get the service I need out here?

I just moved to Germany and want to set up the data plan for my iPad.  I currently have the iPad linked to at&t however have not yet set up service.  I am afraid that I will pay for it and not be able to use it out here.  Will the standard at&t cellular data plan work in Germany or am I out of luck??

but not an AT&T  as clearly stated by OP ( unless you can use a Verizon/Sprint model on AT&T )
Looks like we both need to read the OP more carefully

I changed my data plan from 6g to 8g while my daughter who attends college outside of the US at Toronto Canada (and we have on a international calling and international data plan) was on spring break at her grandparents house here in the US. I made the change online since I had been waiting on the phone for over 10 minutes for a customer service rep to come available. Well when I made the change online since that seems to be the thing that Verizon wants it's customers to do and I didn't see all the different plans available and just did the upgrade to 8g. Next bill had over $900 in roaming charges on her phone line. I called the 1-800 number and waiting for a service rep and after 20 minutes of waiting and being put on hold was told it was the customers mistake and there was nothing they could do.Thanks for nothing. I called back after thinking about it and wondered why changing a data plan for the phones in the US would change a international call plan. Waiting over 10 minutes again between waiting for a service rep and hold for one to answer the call. Gave her all the information about it and she said she would call back. Well, 4 days later over the weekend she had nevered called back. So on the phone again for the third time and after 20 plus minutes again was told that when I did it online I click the plan that didn't include international call only the data plan. Explained that I never saw the difference in the plan packages so put on hold again and was told that they could credit $100 to my bill. Wow, thanks alot !!! We have been Verizon customers for probably atleast 12 years and this is how you treat your long term customers?

  • Question about voice and data plan for Europe

I am in New York and my boss is going to France for a week and a half. He told me he will not have access to the internet there. He asked me to find out if it would be possible to get a voice and data plan for the month that he will be there, and if so, could someone show me where I could look at the different plans available?
If it's not possible to do that for just a month, then could someone tell me where I could find the rates are for voice and data in France?
    Thanks

    Hi kevindrosario,
I appreciate your interest in our International Services.  France, is a GSM country and will only support a Global capable device. Unfortunately, its not clear if your boss has a Global capable device.  If so, here are the details for the voice and data rates for France.
If your boss doesn't not have a Global capable device, no worries!  We offer an Occasional Global Traveler program, in which we will loan you a Global device for up to 21 days.  I hope this information is helpful.  Please let me know if you have any any additional questions or concerns.
    Thank you,

  • Is there an unlimited data plan?

Is there an unlimited data plan on Verizon?
My son (in the Army with no wifi) usage has gone through the roof after I gave him an ipad for Christmas.
I am getting sales material from a lot of other carriers which include unlimited data.
I just had to bump up my data plan to 30GB which is $275 a month.
Should I be looking to switch carriers?

As of right now, verizon is not offering unlimited data plans.  I will caution you about the unlimited data plans you have gotten info about.  Most of them only offer a certain amount of data when you're in their "extended" network, which means when you're using their partners' towers.  Most times this amount of data is limited to 250mb, or even 100mb in some cases.  You must also take coverage into consideration.  Unlimited data with no service is still limited, especially if he's going to be travelling.  If his usage is getting out of control, I would recommend family base, which will allow you to set data limits.  I know that's not ideal, but I have a niece in the army and she has a phone on my account.  She currently uses about 2gb of data a month.

  • Looking to get a data plan for the sole purpose of playing online video games

    Hi everyone,
I live in the mountains of Pine Valley, CA and the seclusion is becoming intolerable.  I'm looking to get a data plan with Verizon to play online video games, namely Diablo 3 or failing that due to latency, then Civilization 5.  Can anyone give me pointers on if this would work and what plan I could get?  Currently, I have a plan with Boost Mobile which uses Sprint cell phone towers.  I tested my internet connection with speedtest.net and received a ping as low as 140 and as high as 1000, but I'm hoping the 1000 is just due to reception issues that can be fixed with a better antenna.    The 140 ping is a little high too but I'm hoping this will be better on the Verizon network since I think their cellphone towers are closer.  The closest landmark to me is the Golden Acorn Casino at 1800 Golden Acorn Way  Campo, CA 91906.  If anyone could tell me the distance from Verizon's cell tower to the casino and Sprint's and could estimate a ping value based on that, I would really appreciate it.
I like Verizon's data plan for 10gb but I'm confused on device connectivity.  Is this the data plan plus whatever router device I hook it up to? I would also need some sort of antenna and a router, wireless or wired.  Can anyone give me pointers on how to find these?  An estimation on Ping and bandwith speed and also on peak hours in my area would be nice too.  Thanks to anyone that can help me with this!  Oh, and while I don't think my area has coverage for 4g, though I'm pretty sure there is 3g, would I possibly get 4g if I had a strong enough antenna?

Homefusion comes with antenna that is mounted OUTSIDE of your dwelling. That why they send someone out to install it. It also comes with the router. You're thinking of Share Everything data only plans. Where you pay $20 for the mi-fi and then pay extra on the data pending how much you want.  Share Everything with a mi-fi and 10 GB would be $80 a month when you can get Homefusion for $60 for the same 10 GB. An considering the antenna is more power and outside you're a lot more likely to get reception with Homefusion. In either case it should be noted you'll need to pass a credit check and sign a two year contract.

  • How do I get a data plan for my iPad in Paris?

I'm travelling to Paris at the end of the month and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the names of carriers that sell SIM card data plans for iPads, and if there are any special things to be aware of.

I know with a new iPad it is usually a simple matter to use the Settings app on the iPad.
Settings > Cellular Data > there's a link to set up your account.
If it doesn't show call your carrier and ask to set up an account there.
If you want to have your iPad share an account with your cell phone call your carrier.

Message page frozen while traveling in Italy. Have international data plan but cannot get or receive messages. How can I get off frozen page?

You want to call and get the internation data plan.  its 25 dollars for 100 mb.  if you dont buy that plan it is like 20.43 per MB.  Very expesnive.  You have the option to just turn cellular data off and only use wifi.  if you dont buy the global data poackage your going to want to do that because your phone will use data even if your not doing naything.  That 25 dollar data package works for most countrys

  • No Data Plan for you if you are not in AT&T coverage area

We have great iPhone coverage here at home, but it is AT&T partner coverage. When I tried to sign up for a data plan on my new iPad 3g, AT&T would not accept the billing address that I have used with AT&T for years. When I called AT&T, they said "We're sorry, you should have known that and not bought a 3g iPad." Although you may use the data service all over the United States, if your home is not in the AT&T coverage area, no data plan for you! Apple has been no help so far either. The only solution I see in the short term is to get a credit card at a relative's address who is in a coverage area.
If anyone knows a work around, I would appreciate some advice...
    Thanks, R.W. Simms

Will this work if you live out of the US. Just supply a US address (my parent's condo in Palm Desert for instance) then update to my Canadian Billing address later. Or does the Billing address always have to be American? Kind of pointless if you consider the iPad the ultimate travel device as was envisioned by Apple.
    1. Most credit cards do not allow you to change your address to one outside of your country. Again, most, but not all. (The reason isn't nefarious or anything, it's just that it's credit laws vary by country, and your Canadian Bank might not be able to sue you in the US if you decide to quit paying your bills.)
    2. AT&T Wireless is a US company (thought it probably has businesses in some other countries). Again, for credit reasons and probably Apple restricting markets as they should, it's probably not going to work.
    3. The iPad is the ultimate travel device. It's a US product for US users, so not being able to get a data plan from a US company because you're Canadian, does not lessen it's usefulness. I'm sure it will be launched in Canada soon, and you'll be able to use it with Rogers or whatever network you have up there. Maybe it will be cheaper.
Go watch some hockey for 3 or 4 weeks, and I'm sure it will be in Canada officially! And I'm not being snarky, because I'm loving the Canadiens right now.

  • AT&T recent data plans for smartphone

Not sure if there is any gotcha but recently ATT announces the new data plan for smartphone users.  With $160 per month you have
    - Unlimited voice/text
    - 4 smartphone lines
    - 10 GB data share
With the same amount of monthly I have with Verizon
    - 700 min voice
    - Unlimited text
    - 1 smartphone line with 2GB data by itself
    - 2 dumb phone lines
Not sure how Verizon is going to react with this.

The tiered data plans started on AT&T last year.
