  • Quick Hit Update: Verizon Wireless Launches Mobile Security App for Android

We recently shared with you information on the growing Malware threat to PCs, Macs and mobile devices, and today, Verizon Wireless announced the latest weapon to help you combat this digital epidemic -- Verizon Mobile Security. This new app -- which can be downloaded from the Verizon Channel in Google Play onto more than 30 Android Smartphones -- delivers a choice of three security service options to help you better safeguard your Android devices from digital threats such as malicious links in emails or potentially unsafe apps to physical threats as a result of a misplace or lost phone.
Click here to learn more about Verizon Mobile Security, and here to learn more about how you can keep your Smartphone safe.

At the moment, In Home Agent and FIOS Mobile on my Windows 10 laptop is functional.  Rather, I can download them from the Google Play Store, but you won't find them on the Microsoft App store.  Neither program installs.  Additionally, I cannot get Outlook 2010 to download or upload mail from the POP or SMTP servers respectively using the setting precribed on the Verizon web site.  While there are other issues with Window 10 and third party software, these seem to be Verizon-related.

  • Email apps for Android

Can anyone out there recommend a good email app for Android (Fascinate)?  I'm currently using K-9, which was pretty good until I added a second email account.  The Gmail app works fine, but i get very little mail at that address.  I can get my Hotmail mail via K-9 but the mail from my employer's server (the second account) doesn't show up on my phone.  It's possible that I set the account up incorrectly.  If anyone has any pointers there, I'd appreciate it.

  • The file to download the app for Android is not working from my phone--it says that the file isn't there. However it does see the one for the Iphone (even though it can't use it). I'm very computer literate and am pretty sure the problem is on your end.

The file to download the app for Android is not working from my phone--it says that the file isn't there. However it does see the one for the Iphone (even though it can't use it). I've tried it multiple times and continue to get the same message: "NOT FOUND The requested item could not be found". I also tried through the Market application on the phone but ended-up with the same result.
I'm very computer literate and am pretty sure the problem is on your end. If this is the case then no one can download the app. I considered that perhaps because it's still in Beta that it was removed due to some other type of software issue. I would really like to use Firefox on my new Droid (2.0); when with this be available?

Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.
Or, if you have a supported phone, you can download the app directly by typing this address into your phone's browser: http://bit.ly/fxbeta3
(Note: To download the app directly for an AT&T phone, you will have to search for instructions on "sideloading" the APK file, since AT&T disables the option to install from non-Market sources.)

  • Dreamweaver Mobile Applications: Can't get past "Cloning seed app for Android" window

I'm trying to do a basic Android app using Dreamweaver. I went to Site-->Mobile Applications-->Build and Emulate-->Android. When I do this a window pops up that says Cloning seed app for Android. Unfortunately, I can't get past this. The window continues to act like it is loading, but then it never loads anything. You're supposed to configure the application framework which I did. It's funny because there is an "Easy Install" button. Of course, it doesn't work which means you have to manually try to download and set everything up which is a nightmare that lasts for days. Easy Install button? It's more like a screw you button. All of the tutorials are predicated on the easy install button actually working. Anyways, I downloaded the Java Development Kit (JDK) and the Android software development kit (SDK). Then I got my AVD (Android virtual device) up and running. Then I  set up a site and made sure the file was saved as index.html. I also made sure I put in information in application settings. I tried calling Adobe tech support and doing extensive Google research. Adobe told me it wasn't their problem that the "Easy Install" button isn't working. Plus, troubleshooting information on Google for Dreamweaver mobile app development is scarce. It would be great to start developing instead of hassling with the setup. I'm a week into it and I still  can't get it to work. I'm using CS5.5 Design Premium.
Lastly, I've done all the updates for dreamweaver that I can do. The only thing I can think of is maybe to try putting the SDK and JDK in the same folder, if that is even possible? Also, I'm using JDK6. Maybe the Android SDK will only run with JDK7? Either way I'm stumped. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I've got the same issue.... in visual studio, you set the properties of the object to something like, content and it builds it with the binary.. but flash builder, i'm stumped on how to get the release build wizard to recoginize the additions i've selected in the project properties -> build packaging -> package contents section... :/

I was wondering if there is any top free app for cleaning up  the computer from malware, phinishing apps, adware, and othere malicious softwares and make it run faster while booting, on startup and while surfing web. I am using a Macbook pro  with IOS10.8.5, under chrome, safari, firefox net environment. thanks on your help

I was wondering if there is any top free app for cleaning up ...
There is no such thing, since the problems you are describing can have various causes. Seeking anything claiming to "clean" your Mac is asking for trouble, since all of those products are scams, whether they are "free" or not.
If you are having trouble with your Mac, describe what it is. Be as specific as possible. For general recommendations read below.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up", "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose:Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
The same precaution applies to Adobe Flash Player. Newly discovered Flash vulnerabilities appear almost weekly.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
The same goes for a spontaneously appearing dialog insisting that you upgrade your video player right this instant. Such popups are frequently associated with sites that promise to deliver "free" movies or other copyrighted content that is not normally "free".
The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • Adobe mobile apps for Android?

Does anyone know if or when Adobe will develop more mobile apps for Android?
There are so many mobile touch apps for iOS but only a hand full for Android.

I love the idea of a discount for Android users ... we are paying the same subscription fees for far less service.  Tweet Adobe...
@creativecloud U should give Android users a monthly discount until your mobile app collection for @Android matches your iOS collection. :-/
    another tweet:
@creativecloud my monthly @Android subscription $$ is getting far less service than @appleios subscription $$. horrible @Adobe . horrible.

  • Is there a way to hide apps from the app store? I don't want my kids to see those "free" apps that nag you to spend real money and download their other apps! I can hide them from "purchased apps", but they still show up when browsing for new apps!

Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps.

As the subject implies, I'm Looking for a good antivirus/antimalware app for iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.2.  Don't care if it costs $$ just want something that works.  I've been searching around and installed a couple things but they don't seem to be what I was expecting.  Thought I'd find out what others are using.

Thanks, the problem is I'm getting spam (spoofing) that is from me saying it was sent from my iPhone with my iPhone signature.  Ive reset my password on my mail, but that's pretty sketchy either way.  And it's being sent to my contacts as well.  Trying to eliminate all the possibilities and this is my first iPhone so I'm still a noob.
Sadly, spoofing doesn't really require much hacking, All a spammer would need to use your email address for spoofing would be your email address. If it's also being sent to your contacts, your email account may well have been hacked. But that would have happened on the server level. Your phone wouldn't have been involved. Unfortunately, once the miscreants have your contact list, changing your password will not get that back. Changing the  password to something strong may help prevent future misuse.
    Best of luck.

  • Is there any voice recognition security software for mac

is there any voice recognition security software for mac

The problem is that there are probably few dry cleaners running Macs. It would be a big commitment for a developer to enter that market. As a potential user, I'm sure you would like it. From a developer standpoint, I would need 50 such dry cleaners ready to buy at $1000 each just to even consider it. I have some time to develop this year. Should I go after 200 million potential customers, a tiny fraction of whom might spend $5-10 apiece, or those 50 dry cleaners. I know that all of those 200 million people are running the correct operating system for my software. How many dry cleaners have Macs and $1000 to spare? I could go cheaper but then I would need more dry cleaners. Why wouldn't they just use some cloud based service instead?

Will there be a HBO Go app for the 3rd generation Apple TV anytime soon? I am not talking about Airplay or iPad/iPhone mirroring. I am talking about a little box icon in the Apple TV menu like Netflix or Youtube... but for HBO Go.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
No one here will know that answer, this community is made up of users only.

What is a good security app for iphone5s?

Since Apple is removing the few that managed to get on to the iTunes App Store, it now appears none.
Why do you think you need one?
Only jailbroken iPhone have security problems to worry about, so if your iPhone is not jailbroken one is not needed.
