Is there an owner's manual for Thunderbird, preferably in print ?

Have had Thunderbird for 4 days, after using Outlook Express for years, and the two are different enough that I'm having problems navigating. Is there a printed "driver's manual" that I could acquire that would help me understand how to better use Thunderbird ?

There is no official manual. There's quite a good semi-official manual at the floss site, and it's available in various formats, including pdf which should print out to paper quite readily.
http://en.flossmanuals.net/thunderbird/
This manual is a bit dated. It was written before Thunderbird 17, which introduced some drastic cosmetic changes which have rendered most of the existing help on the 'net (including the floss manual!) unfathomable. I'd suggest you re-instate the traditional menu system and the toolbars.

Manuals are not good at the philosophy behind the prooduct. I expect that if you set up two or more accounts in Thunderbird, you will be alarmed at how they are presented separately. I recall my reaction to this was to wonder how I could track multiple accounts and be sure I'd seen all the new mail. When you reach this point, please feel free to post here again for some pointers.

    Hi ecolloff,
Did you download the PDF version of the manual from the Recommended for You section, or the other version of the manual from the Guides and Manuals section?

  • Is there anywhere a technical manual for the NB100 ?

Is there anywhere a technical manual for the NB100 ?
I want to replace my internal harddisk with a bigger one and don´t want to destroy anything so a manual for the best way to open the NB100 would be a good thing :-)
    cola

The upgrade is not that hard. There is no need to completely disassemble the unit. Remove the screws from the underside, then remove the cover at the top of the keyboard (the cover with the on/off switch on). Remove the screws from under the cover and then remove the keyboard, gently unclipping the ribbon. unclip the ribbon for the touchpad and the wireless aerials (x2). At this stage the HDD is accessible on the left side, remove the screws and gently pull the HDD out.
Once the new drive is fitted, reverse the procedure. I had no option but to replace mine, as I was on an overseas trip when the Toshiba HDD failed (the system was saying I had no HDD fitted) and as I had only taken the NB100 with me I had no choice if I wanted a working laptop for the trip, I stripped my external HDD and fitted it into the NB100, I now have a NB100 with a 250 GB HDD and it's perfect.

  • Owner's Manual for my Toshiba Satellite L755D laptop?

I would like to d/l the owner's manual (and a service manual, if there is one) for my laptop (L755D-S5218). I didn't find it at the Toshiba site, and even their own "auto-detect utility" was run, but then the website said there isn't any product like that or something of the sort.
Can anyone get me a link to this manual? The latpop itself isn't even a year old; I'm surprised that I'm having this much trouble.

First, you have a copy of your User's Guide right there on your desktop.  Type User's Guide in  the Start/Search box and hit enter and there it is.
Second, the Online copy is at this website which has all the details on your machine.
You can find a repair manual of sorts at this site.

Are you referring to the Blue icons printed under the function keys F1 to F12?
The following describes the features of each function key.
    Power conservation (Fn+F3, Fn+F4, Fn+F12)
    Applying a presentation scheme (Fn+F7)
Switching a display output location (Fn+F7)
Enabling or disabling the wireless features (Fn+F5)
    Launching EasyEject Utility (Fn+F9)
    Other functions
    Power conservation
Fn + F3: Select a power scheme that has been created by Power Manager. When you press this combination, a panel for selecting a power scheme appears.
Note: If you have logged on with an administrator user ID, and you press Fn+F3, the panel for selecting a power scheme appears. If you have logged on with another user ID, and you press Fn+F3, the panel does not appear.
Fn + F4: Put your computer in sleep (standby) mode. To return to normal operation, press the Fn key only, without pressing a function key.
Note: This combination of buttons also functions as a sleep button. If you want to use the combination to put the computer into hibernation mode or shut the computer down, change the settings in Power Manager.
Fn + F12: Put your computer in hibernation mode. To return to normal operation, press the power button for less than four seconds.
Note: Though the screen fades out immediately after Fn + F12 are pressed, the computer does not enter the hibernation mode immediately. Do not move the system until the Sleep (standby) status indicator stops blinking. Moving the computer when it is entering hibernation may cause corruption of the hard drive.
Note: To use Fn+F3, Fn+F4, and Fn+F12 key combinations, you must have the ThinkPad® PM device driver installed on your computer.
For information on the power management function, refer to Learn how to achieve all day computing.
    Applying a presentation scheme
Fn + F7: Apply a presentation scheme directly, with no need to start Presentation Director.
To disable this function and use the Fn+F7 key combination for switching a display output location, start Presentation Director, and change the settings.
Click Start --> All Programs (in Windows® 2000, Programs) --> ThinkVantage --> Presentation Director.
For information on applying a presentation scheme, refer to Presentation Director.
    Switching a display output location
Fn + F7: Switch between the computer display and an external monitor. If an external monitor is attached, computer output is displayed in the following three patterns by turns:
    External monitor (CRT display)
Computer display and external monitor (LCD + CRT display)
    Computer display (LCD)
Note: This function is not supported if different desktop images are displayed on the computer display and the external monitor (the Extend desktop function).
Note: This function does not work while a DVD movie or a video clip is playing.
To enable this function, start Presentation Director, and change the settings.
Note: Multiple users can log on to a single operating system by using different user IDs. Each user needs to do the following:
Click Start --> All Programs (in Windows 2000, Programs) --> ThinkVantage --> Presentation Director, and change the Fn+F7 Settings.
Enabling or disabling the wireless features
Fn + F5: Enable or disable the built-in wireless networking features. If you press Fn+F5, a list of wireless features is displayed. You can quickly change the power state of each feature in the list.
Note: If you want to use Fn+F5 to enable or disable the wireless features, the following device drivers must be installed on your computer beforehand:
    Power Management driver
    OnScreen Display Utility
    Wireless device drivers
For information on the wireless features, refer to Wireless connections.
    Launching EasyEject Utility
Fn + F9: Open the EasyEject Utility screen. Buttons for the following choices are displayed:
Eject ThinkPad PC from Dock: This button is displayed only if you have attached your ThinkPad computer to a ThinkPad Advanced Dock or a ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock. If you click this button, the computer is detached from the ThinkPad Advanced Dock or the ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock.
Eject ThinkPad PC from Mini Dock (Port Replicator): This button is displayed only if you have attached your ThinkPad computer to a ThinkPad Essential Port Replicator and attached one or more USB devices to the ThinkPad Essential Port Replicator. If you click the button, you can stop all the USB devices and remove them safely.
Note: You cannot use this Utility to detach your computer from the ThinkPad Essential Port Replicator.

For more details, refer to EasyEject Utility.
    Other functions
Fn + PgUp: Turn the ThinkLight® on. To turn it off, press Fn+PgUp again.
Note: This function is supported only on the ThinkPad computers that have the ThinkLight. The on or off status of the ThinkLight is shown on the screen for a few seconds when you press Fn + PgUp.
Fn + Home: The computer display becomes brighter.
The purpose of this method is to change the brightness level temporarily. • Is there a way to manually add an old USB printer driver in Mac OS X 10.5.8?

    Hello!
I recently accidently deleted an old printer, Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX Ink Jet Printer, in Mac OS X 10.5.8 on an old MacBook Pro (2008; 15"). I cannot figure out how to readd it manually without having the physical printer connected through its USB cable. Do I really need to have it connected to do this? I rarely use it and do not have access to it at the moment.
    Thank you in advance.

    Klaus1 wrote:
So removing this specific printer in the same place (+ and - icons) in System Preferences' Printers & Faxes, also removes the drivers. Weird
No. In your opening post you said you had deleted it and required a re-install of the driver. Now you are saying something different.
Oops, I should not have said the driver to cause the confusion. I can't edit my original post. Sorry!
I never had to install one since Mac OS X came with one. I just need to add the printer without the printer connected.

  • Is there an Apple User Manual for Pages 5.5.2?

I've been a Pages 09 user for many years. There's a lot to like in Pages 5.5.2. But a user manual showing techniques would be appreciated. Particularly for Search & Replace, whole word searches, invisibles searches, and so forth.
    Appreciated.

Try googling "apple pages search" to find stuff like
Pages for Mac 5.0: Find and replace text
Of course no amount of documentation will fix defects in Pages 5.  Pages 4 is vastly superior in most areas.
To have Apple see your views on these defects, use
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
and post a review in the app store.
