Hello i am a dj working with the new os mavericks.
At home i realised that pulling the power butten quickly shuts my mac to sleep.
Then the monitor stays black and i cant return to the desk so i forced to shut down the mac pulling the power button for 3 seconds.
This new function really is problem for me because everytime i used it i didnt want to shut it to sleep.It was by writing fast or something without wanting it.
Now im really scared when im at work putting music in the club it happens and the music goes off...this really cant happen so i need a solution to get my
power button work like before.

Sorry, but it is not possible. And yes, you would probably be better off buying an actual watch.

i've been using the embedded javascript print function with the silent interaction parameter to make a PDF file printed as soon as it's opened without any user iteraction, until this annoying new 'protection' implemented in 8.1.2.
is it possible either in adobe reader options or in embedded javascript to have such a workflow-friendly behavior back in version 8.1.2 ? thanks in advance.
and please do not say that this 'feature' was added to save trees and world climate :p

Is there a way to be able to completely disable or remove the new "Photos" program on a Macbook Pro?
I was completely happy with Aperture and/or iPhoto but this new program is missing so many features it us pretty much useless for what I do.

Yes, it is possible to restrict the design of already existing workbooks.
You may go to Workbook Settings, enable the option, 'Password Protect Workbook' and keep a password
which may be known only to the people who can change the structure of the workbook.
When this option is selected, if you goto design mode, it would prompt for a password, and if correct password is entered, only then be allowed to add/modify design items.

Simmulating the New/Associate function via Weblink

Here is the scenario: I need to create a Policy object from an Opportunity via a weblink. I currently have a Policy field at the Opportunity which has a lookup. When clicking the lookup:
a) The Policy Search pops up with the NEW option
b) When clicking NEW the new Policy form pops-up
c) When adding data and clicking SAVE the Policy New and Search pops-up close and now I have the Opportunity with the Policy field populated with new one
I would like to by-pass all this clicking by adding a weblink to the Opportunity ("Click here for new Policy") that pops up the same form in (b) above and when clicking SAVE it closes and ASSOCIATES the new record back to the Opportunity. So far I've been able to pop-up in the right context (copy pasted URL from (b) into weblink), however the association is not working as expected.

Thanks - that was my initial idea, however, the Policy - Oppty relationship goes from the Policy to the Oppty: One Policy can have many Oppty and one Oppty only has one Policy. Therefore, when sitting in the Oppty I can't list the related Oppty's with the NEW button since there is only one. Is this what you were referring to? Or maybe I'm missing something? Thanks again - your input is greatly appreciated.

It should go NOT to sleep when the power button is pressed...if people wants it to go to sleep just close the lid!
Instead, when the button is pressed, the dialogue box should show up asking people what to do.

Is there any way to turn off the notification at the bottom of our whiteboard that there are ### new messages. It says Read directly to the right of the message. You can X out of it but then the count starts back up again. This is just an annoyance to our group and we would like to find a way to turn it off.

If there is an email trail that contains the same subject line, these individual emails are now grouped. The "From" name seems to show the oldest unread email and not the newest. I bcc myself on all emails, so I do not necessarily read the message from myself. This makes the grouped email appear to be from me, even though there may be several more emails on this topic (subject) that came in more recently.

I'm using the standard CS5 Spry Menu Bar (Horizontal) in Dreamweaver. I have it set up exactly the way I want with CSS. However, I've very little experience with Javascript, consequently I'd like to ask anyone here for some help in modifying this aspect of the Spry Menu Bar. I'd like it to 'click-open' and not open when the mouse is over it. I've tried to change the delay variables in the code to something that has a longer duration in milliseconds; unfortunately, this tends to cause some bugs such as the menu re-opening once the mouse is no longer near it and other such bugs.
The ideal solution for me would be to have it open when it's clicked on once. The reason I need this is because the menu appears over some buttons - there's no way around this for me, it's the layout I absolutely must have. Although the buttons don't overlap with the menu, they are very close and it is annoying when your hand slips a little and the menu pops up over it all.
I'd appreciate any help at all, thank you.

My kids use firefox on my computer. Is it possible to disable the private browsing feature so they can not go on and use it ?

I want the computer to keep a history of all the site they have searched, but can not know for sure if they turn on/off the private browsing function. Is it possible to disable the private browsing function and put a lock / password on it ?

Even if it was possible to remove or disable "Private Browsing" then that still won't make it impossible to delete private data like visited websites (history) or cache or cookies.<br />
There are a lot of ways to clear such data, either via [[Clear Recent History]] or directly by deleting the History in the Library or sidebar.<br />
Private Browsing makes it easier because all data is kept in memory and nothing is saved to disk, so nothing needs to be removed.<br />

If you want to see which sites have been visited then you should look at others means outside Firefox like a router or firewall with a password protected logging feature that can't be bypassed or a program like Wireshark.

There is no BIOS in OS X. There is only the EFI stored in ROM that is not user modifiable. OS X is probably checking Bay 0 for the boot drive since that is where it should be. It won't check the Tempo drive since it is treated like an external drive. I suggest you open Startup Disk preferences to see if the Tempo device is selected as the boot device. If it isn't, then select it. That will probably shave off a few seconds in the startup time.

the problem is if i include the setForwardURL my confirm messages dont work. if i dont include the setForward they work.
is there a way to do the setForwars so i can redirect the page and make the table inactive and also use the confimations. i can see its going past my system.prints. it just isnt popping up my confirmations as i believe its due to the IGNORE_MESSAGES.

SetForward*()...It lets the current page processing complete. Your following code will complete its processing, after that it will be forwarded to next page.
ForwardImmediately.... Forwards immediately without letting remaining code process.
However, a good thing is pageContext of the same page is forwarded. That means, if you did pageContext.putDialog(message), in current page, that will be forwarded in both the cases to next page. Hence, for your problem...
use putDialog method, as stated in previous post and
use forward url as CONFIRMATION, NOT AS ERROR OR IGNORE_MESSAGE.
