If you backed up the iPad before you tried to update, you can restore the iOS and then restore from the backup. If you don't have a backup, there is nothing that you can do about it now.
You will have to restore the iPad in order to make it operational again and you will lose all of your data. If you don't sync with iTunes and cannot recover your media again that way, you can download most purchased content again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID.

There are several VNC clients available for the iPad in the iTunes App Store.
Make your choice and install to the iPad. I chose Remoter VNC.
Now, the steps:
System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing.
In Computer Settings, check VNC viewers may control screen ... and OK.
Set a password that the iPad VNC app will request.
You are alerted that Screen Sharing: is blocked by Firewall.Switch to Security & Privacy preference
Click and unlock with your login password
Leave Firewall running
Choose Firewall options
Deselect Block all incoming connections if it is checked
You may now see an entry for Screen Sharing and Allow incoming connections
Do not recheck Block all incoming connections
Click OK
Click to lock the firewall
On your iPad, launch the VNC application.
In the VNC app, set the name for the VNC client.
Configure your user id and password (from above).
Configure other VNC app preferences including port 5900.
Launch your iPad VNC client and click to login.
Your OS X ML desktop and open windows will appear on the iPad.

The wipe does not have the desired effect. I would think the appropriate name for what I want would be "Draw". I want the line to be drawn from one end to the other in a specified amount of time.

create 2 draw shapes showing as a single coloured line;
one that shows the line from the starting point at the left to the furthest point it extends to the right
the second line starts from the end point of line 1 to the furthest point it extends to the left
add a wipe to line 1, wiping from left to right
add a wipe to line 2, wiping from right to left, which automatically builds after build 1, with no delay
when played back it will look like a single wipe

ColdFusion f*cked up, database driven websites, is there another way?

I downloaded a trial version of ColdFusion from Adobe, and it won't ever let me setup, and it doesn't let me uninstall. It asks for my OS X login password, I typed it in correctly, and it always comes out wrond. Don't ask me if I did type it in wrongly, cus I didn't . I tried logging out and ten back in again. Adobe are probably a con, they don't let you uninstall software off YOUR computer. So, I was wondering, is there another way to make database driven websites on your Mac without using con company software like Adobe? If somebody can sort out the Adobe problem, I would be really appriciate it.

Ok, first of all you need to understand this entire process from installing the server apps, to writing the code, to laying out the page isnt going to be a simple drag and drop, point and click, upload and go process. Its going to be ALOT more involved than that on any operating system and in any development environment. I dont ever want to discourage, but im going to let you know right now if you have this attitude of "it didnt work in the first 10 minutes" you aint gonna end up creating anything. Period.
That said, you need to consider where youre going to run this site. Are you going to run it off your home computer? Ok, then youll need a static ip address to bind to your domain name and at the leat a always on broadband connection - preferably a business account if you want to avoid being haslted by your ISP. If youre going to host the site somewhere then you need to lok at what type of server its going to run n and what technlogies are going to be available on that server. The most common are ASP/ASP.Net and PHP4.In combonation with MSSQL, MySQL or Postgre. You cant really run ASP on your mac since its an MS only thing (ALthough ther eis a Java server that will run ASP available from Sun Microsystems). So now youre left with PHP out of those two. Ofcourse, you can find hosts offering hosted Coldfusion and Ruby on Rails. However rails can be tricky to get working on a mac properly so id say youll probably jsut want to stick with PHP. Id reccommend php4 as opposed to php5 since most hosts arent yet offering php5(this is changing daily but for the time being in a learning environment jsut use 4).
As for MySQL, agian you need to use in your environment the one youre using on your host. So stick with verion 4.x.x as thats what most hosts currently run... Mine still runs 3.x.x although tats set to change to 4.x.x by the end of the year.
One thing youll learn in web development is that people dont always use the most recent generally available rleas of a product, particularily where opensource stuff is concerned.

I don't know enough about your use case to provide specific direction but you may be able to use the 6.1.1 UI extensibility point. For example, you could add an anchor link collection control that scrolls the page to the top of each section when selected.

I said "such as" for a reason. There are various forms that data resources can take, such as simple name=value text files, but if you are shy of learning xml then you are likely shy of other file forms as well.
Another way would be to have the client purchase Flash and then they can edit the Flash source file themselves.
Unfortunately, to do what you want, either you or the client has to learn/understand the tools that are involved.

It is possible to make a self-signed client certificate with keytool and i am successfully using in my dummy application.
The first thing you need to do is create a keystore and generate the key pair. You could use a command such as the following:
keytool -genkey -dname "cn=Mark Jones, ou=JavaSoft, o=Sun, c=US"
-alias business -keypass kpi135 -keystore C:\working\mykeystore
-storepass ab987c -validity 180
(Please note: This must be typed as a single line. Multiple lines are used in the examples just for legibility purposes.)
This command creates the keystore named "mykeystore" in the "working" directory on the C drive (assuming it doesn't already exist), and assigns it the password "ab987c". It generates a public/private key pair for the entity whose "distinguished name" has a common name of "Mark Jones", organizational unit of "JavaSoft", organization of "Sun" and two-letter country code of "US". It uses the default "DSA" key generation algorithm to create the keys, both 1024 bits long.
It creates a self-signed certificate (using the default "SHA1withDSA" signature algorithm) that includes the public key and the distinguished name information. This certificate will be valid for 180 days, and is associated with the private key in a keystore entry referred to by the alias "business". The private key is assigned the password "kpi135".

Is there a way to make sure my MBP doesn't use a particular resolution or ?

This may be a stupid question. I am hooking my MBP to my lcd tv. When I first connected the television, my tv displayed the message "mode not supported". Having played a little at this I simply went to my display preferences and looked at what resolution was running to my tv. (I have my display preferences in the toolbar) It was running 1920x1080 at 60Hz and right above that there was another 1920x1080 at 60Hz so I clicked on that and my external display lit right up. (Turns out the second resolution's refresh rate is actually 59.9Hz) So no problem right? Well I use this set up as sort of a media center so I like to run my MBP with its lid closed. When I close the lid, and rewake the MBP, my television gives me the message "mode not supported". So there is a signal but the tv can't display it. This leads me to believe that when I close the lid on my MBP it decides to run at the 60Hz as opposed to the functional 59.9Hz. The problem is I can't see the display to change the resolution or refresh rate. Is there a way to make sure my MBP doesn't use a particular resolution or refresh rate? I have tried changing it before I close the lid. I have tried it in mirrored display mode. Nothing works so far. Please Help!

Not really. In the Displays preferences you can only check the option to show supported resolutions, but that only will be present with another display connected (I believe.) On laptops it isn't an option, obviously, but it may be present once you connect an external display.
You might try using the shareware utility SwitchResX - VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

Is there any way to make Mail open the next message on the inbox automatically after deleting, forwarding o saving a message?
I mean, is there any way to, after reading a message, going to the next or previous message without double clicking the main inbox window?
I used (on windows) to read mail on outlook, or even on entourage for mac, and after I read a message, even if I deleted it, forward it, replied it, or even saving it on a folder, automatically the program (outlook, entourage, hotmail, etc) opened the next message on the inbox, but I am not able to find any way to make Mail do that.
Is there a way to it? Or should I provide suggestions to Apple?
By the way, no meant to prefer microsoft for this, I just think this is a cool feature for reading several messages one after another without going back to the main inbox page and double clicking the message to read...

Down-arrow, Return. Return opens the selected message. I read through hundreds of messages without ever touching the mouse. Once you get used to the keystrokes, Mail is extremely efficient.

Out of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, Illustrator is definitely the one I have most problems working with, due to small UI differences and ways of handling things
Like the fact that you can't drag next to a number to change it, like in Photoshop. Or the fact that I can't sync my settings (it only says "Signed in as:", and when I press Manage Account, I'm taken to my CC files in Safari).
But most annoying is the fact that whenever I'll save a document in Illustrator, a dialogue box opens letting me know the progress of the saving. Not only does this make me unable to continue working on the document (if the file is large, it takes some time), the app icon starts jumping in the dock if I switch to another program before the box appears.
So, is there any way to make it save in the background, like in Photoshop? I'm running OS X, with Illustrator version 17.1.0.

This really frustrates me, small differences between the apps that shouldn't be there.
I understand you can't change the keyboard shortcuts to be the same/similar, but this is totally different. Let's hope it changes soon.
