I made some sound effects with Sound Track Pro 2,and save it to *.wav,but I found when I put it into Windows XP,It can be played by Windows Media Player,but can not be recognized by our game Engine.
I'm a developer of game company!
And same sound I use the Sound Forge convert to wave file,so it can be recognized.So strange.
So,anyone can help me with this.Thanks

I had a problem recently where I couldn't open 32 bit WAVs on my Mac which were created in Adobe Audition. To cut a long story short, Audition uses (or used) a proprietory 32 bit format called 16.8 bit float which is now defunct. I had to convert these before OSX would open them, but this was a bit of a one-off and I've never had any other problems with using the same WAVs on Mac/PC.
That Windows Media Player in XP opens the WAV before conversion means it is not entirely the OS that is the root of the problem.
Just for information, I do know that Wave Editor in OS X appends some additional metadata to WAVs on opening.

They seem to be more or less the same thing, but deleting photos in one place does not delete them elsewhere.
When I tried to import from my camera to my iMac computer the computer would not recognized 900 of the 920 photos on the camera so I had to (successfully) use the Image Capture application to import them.
I want to delete photos from my iPhone 4 in order to free up storage (I only have 8GB.) But in synching I do not want to delete any images from my iPhoto on my computer.
Is there a way that I can Delete All under Edit in either Photos or Camera on my iPhone and check about 20 ijmages to remain on the iPhone? I could find no command to Select All and then uncheck the 20 photos I want to keep.
I have the 8GB iPhone and the iMac with OS 10.9.2 and iPhoto '09 Version 8.1.2.

I have Version 6.1.3 because the clogged storage will not allow me to upload Version 7.1. Catch 22. This is basically a storage issue, I believe. I cannot delete enough stuff on my iPhone to allow me to either back up or upload the new OS 7. I am unwilling to pay for more storage in iCloud, so I want to delete stuff I don't need. But I haven't yet figured out how to successfully do that. I synch my phone and computer. I want to delete mail on the Mail app and photos and still keep my photos on my computer on iPhoto, but not on my phone. I seem unable to do that. Any advice?

Share files between Mac and Windows in same iMac with boot camp

I am new in using Mac and recently I buy a IMac 24" model.
I used to use PC a long time with a lot of old document.
I want to install Windows XP with boot camp.
But I also want to share my documents, music, video files between Mac and Windows in same iMac.
How can I do this?

Hi Eric and welcome to Discussions and the Apple world.
Mac OSX can read and write from Windows partitions (like the BootCamp Windows partition you are about to create) when using FAT32 as file system for Windows.
However with FAT32 you are limited to a partition size of 32GB.
Mac OSX can also read from Windows partitions that uses the NTFS file system, but it can not write to them unless you use a third-party helper like either Paragons NTFS for Mac http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/ or NTFS-3G http://www.ntfs-3g.org/
Windows can not even see or use a Mac OSX partition without additional help by MacDrive http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/

Can not print PDF file at all with Windows Vista

I have Acrobat Reader 9.3.2. I am working off of Windows Vista on my laptop to a network wireless printer (Brother MFC 9440). I am unable to print pdf files. About a week ago, we had problems with our printer printing anything. I had to uninstall it and reinstalled it and it now works fine except the pdf files. I have had no problems printing any other files on any other programs but this one. I am unsure what specific "updates" I ran while trying to figure out printers issue. When in Reader, everything seems normal. When I hit print, the printer box pops up as normal and then I hit ok, my printer icon at bottom pops up for about 5 secs and nothing happens. I know that I am connected to printer due to all other programs can print. I do not have access to another printer to see if pdf will print on another printer, but do know that the other two computers used in this office (mac laptop and mac desktop) both are able to print pdf files to this printer without a problem. I have gone thru all the other help steps to try to resolve the situation: it still will not print when I hit "print as image", made sure that my printer is marked as network and is default printer, made sure to check that I have all upgrades, etc. I am not getting any error message, so am unsure what is wrong. It just will not print. Is there anyone that could give me some suggestions that I have not tried? I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!

The problem was on my Auntys PC, and yes i did updated Adobe Reader to v9.3.2 and still the same issue underlned below.
My Aunty lives 70 miles away so will not be trying anything else.
The printer works fine with every other application only Adobe Reader files will print.

Hi,
there are some windows in our firm and we're sharing the files using File Sharing. The problem is that the windowses can see the files not only the ones in public folder, but also whole disk, like Desktop, Library etc. When i installed Lion, it was happened again for one time. But then it fixed in a way which i don't know. After Mountain Lion, this problem occurs again.
So, why can it be happened and how do i fix it? please help me.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033 supports Windows 8.1 and can be used with that version. The Mid 2011 iMac is compatible with Windows 8, so you should not have any problem by installing Windows 8.

Thanks! The procedure worked great for me (using iTunes 10), however there was one caveat. I also had to edit “AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi” with Orca and change the entry in “LaunchCondition” from
VersionNT64>=600
to
VersionNT64>=501
in order for the Device Manager driver update procedure to work, and iTunes to recognize my iPhone4. Prior to doing this, only “digital still camera” was displayed in the “imaging” entry in Device Manger. Once I did the above, “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver” was listed, and the procedure worked as written.

You can change the default program for opening files with the following:
Set your default programs
Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Default Programs.
Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
Click the file type or protocol that you want the program to act as the default for.
Click Change program.

Is there a way to exchange files between an iPhone and a mac?

I know the iPhone does not support bluetooth (legally), but is there a way I can share files between the phone and a macbook NOT connected to the internet?
What I need to do is the following: I use the phone for work (bad choice, I know...) and need to be able to access e-mail and send files out. I am going to be away for a couple of weeks (I am based in the UK and going to Italy) and was thinking to use the phone for e-mailing (megabucks!!!) and the macbook to do some work that will need to be subsequently e-mailed, but as the iPhone does not support (legally at least) bluetooth, is there a way to load files onto the phone? I mean, it doesn't sound like rocket science.
I have to say, I am overall very disappointed with the iPhone as a tool to work with. Great for games, etc., but not for work. I am really tempted to toss it in the trash (or at least return it where I got it from).
I hope you can give me some good news here...
Besides as a general observation, I have been spending HOURS scouring the internet trying to find solutions to some basic issues I have with the iPhone... A piece of kit that is as expensive as all that should not be so difficult to use especially if all I am trying to get what would be considered a common feature in all bog standard phones, but that's another story... At least I have the digital compass and I can check stocks and shares to make me feel better...

I guess I'm confused then. DocsToGo and AirShare Pro both allow you to set up an adhoc network (direct wifi-based connection between the laptop and your iPhone, no wifi router/cell data connection required). You can then pass the documents back and forth between the two devices. I prefer DocsToGo, because it also allows you to edit/sync the docs back and forth. Is this not what you want to do? You can also email the document from within DocsToGo on the iPhone if desired.
If you want to upload/download using a service like DropBox (which will also require a data connection, either WiFi or cell-based) DocsToGo can access that cloud-based service.
Note that I'm NOT affiliated with DocsToGo, but I did read the instructions to find out all the stuff it can do

Sharing files between mac and windows

Hello, I have recently purchased a new mac computer and I would like to transfer files from my old windows computer onto this new one and vice versa. I have tried using an external hard drive to do this, but I found that it can only be formatted to one OS at one time. Does anybody have any ideas of how I can accomplish this? Thank you so much for your help everyone!

I'm not clear as to the current format of the drive. Since you say it is working with MacDrive I am assuming it is currently NTFS. You also say this is for a "new computer" so is this really a Leopard OS computer, making this a Leopard OS question? There's differences in the capabilities of the different systems.
As for MacDrive, if it works and it's the only program then you'll have to pay for it. I'd say if you're just using it this once for this one application you could probably buy a used drive for $50 to allow you to clear some files off the one you want to use and reformat it. Drives formatted to FAT32 can hold files up to 4GB in size and work with both Mac and Windows. Unless this is for video I don't see a severe restriction to reformatting to FAT32 and using that.

Pause/Play Wav Files Not working with timeline

OK, I'm going crazy here. I have imported a WAV file into my
Flash timeline. I have a button that pauses the timeline, and also
stops all sound. But... when I click on the play button to continue
the movie, the sound is no longer present. It's as if the timeline
only recognizes the first frame of audio, even within the source
file if I put the cursor anywhere besides the first frame of audio,
it does not play.

I will only have a play button and a stop button. Just a
simple a play and stop action for each. Also, I didn't give an
instance name for each button, just default as is.

Shared files between Vista and Windows 8.1

I have a laptop with windows 8.1 on it and a desktop with Vista. The desktop can access the files on the laptop, but the laptop cannot access the desktop files. The network shows the desktop, but says it is cannot access it. Is

Please make sure that you have permission to access Windows Vista computer, and the share from Windows Vista is for public.
Then, please check following settings:
Whether these two computers are in the same workgroup.
Try to turn off the firewall of Windows Vista to check the results.
Check whether the network discovery of both computers is turned on.
Check following ports are allowed in Firewall: UDP 3702, TCP 5357, TCP 5358
If the key restrictanonymoussam under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa was set to 1 or 2, please change it to 0.

Why, when I bounce to iTunes, do my wave files show up with no sound?

When I bounce wave files to iTunes the file has a time and the title shows up, but no sound when you double click on it. The time bar moves like its playing but no sound!!

If you bounce as AAC or MP3, you will lose some quality. Better to bounce in AIF or WAV if you intend to burn to CD. Now, why you can't play it in iTunes or from finder, that is weird. Like someone suggested, try AIF format. That is all I use and I can play anywhere. When you go to "Get Info" in iTunes (for the song), does it have a time? You can also try opening the file (from your Bounced folder) into Audacity? It's a free app and very nice. You will be able to see the sound wave. This will verify that you actually have sound in the file.
Let us know what you find.

Sharing .itl file between Mac and Windows

How do I share an .itl file located on a NAS between a Windows machine and a Mac? I can do it with two Windows machines, but one I add a Mac, every time I switch platforms the library rebuilds. Onle one machine is accessing the itl file at a time, all the content is on the NAS, and I have 11.0.2.25 on the Mac and 11.0.2.26 on the Windows machine (can't get 11.0.2.25 on the Windows machine.

Right now, I have Verizon DSL that uses a Westell router. It has 4 ethernet ports on the back in addition to the DSL connections. I have a HP Pavilion with Windows XP in the basement, an iMac G3 in my room, and an intel iMac in our living room all connected to the router by ethernet cables. Each computer is able to access the other computer's files. On the intel iMac I have Microsoft Remote Desktop installed so that I can log into the HP in the basement and control it from the iMac. I haven't tried operating this network wirelessly, but I would imagine that it would be possible. One thing that you might want to check is the router's configuration. My router has settings that either allow or block wireless signals. To access my router's settings I type in 192.168.1.1 in Safari or Internet Explorer. Having all 3 computers on the internet at the same time does not slow the speed of the DSL very much.

Hidden files between Mac and Windows

I am evaluating Oracle Content Services to replace a traditional (OS X Server with AFP and SMB) file server. I'm doing some tests and I see that when I upload or change files by WebDAV, files starting with '.' appears. Let say I uploaded a file called 'test.doc', after the upload is complete, a file called '.test.doc' is also created. I guess that they are files created by the Finder on OS X to contains the resource fork, but the problem is that I see those files when I mount the same folder on a XP station.
Is there a setting somewhere to not display files that start with dots ?

I haven't seen a filter setting on the WinXP side, but I have seen a setting on the MacOSX side that prevents the OS from creating the "." files on network volumes. If you try to browse an area with read-only permissions, MacOSX will give out lots of warnings on creating those . files.
