Is there any Closed Caption material on iTunes?

Apple TV has the option to enable Closed Captioning under Video in Settings, but are there any movies that will display closed captioning when this option is enabled?
Thanks....

My wife and I watch movies when the kids are in bed since it's like our only TV. So we've always depended on CC. Rented our first movie, "Mr. Brooks", and no CC. Quite annoying. DVDs always have it, you'd think Mr. Jobs would get with the program.

Your itunes library should be on your computer and should be included in your regular backup copy of your computer.

  • Is there any third party software for itunes that will do this:

Is there any third party software for itunes that will organize the browser window. Ideally I would like the third browser window (album name) organized by "main albums" "compilations" "bootlegs" "singles"
It would look like this for the Beatles
    Main
    1963 Please Please Me
    1965 Help
    etc.
    Compilations
    1970 Red Album
    1990 Greatest Hits
    etc.
    Bootlegs
    1985 Ultratrax 1
    etc.
    CD Singles
    1999 Whatever
This info would be marked on either the info or option tab when labeling.
If this has not been made, one of you nerds should make it, it would be great and you could charge $3 for it and I buy it. and so would 100,000 other people.

If you haven't already, try looking through the Apple Downloads specifically for iTunes.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ipod_itunes/
There might be something there that is at least similar to the app your looking for.
edit: There is one shareware that is an iTunes plugin called Multi-tunes. With it you can create multiple iTunes libraries, one library called "Main" one called "Bootlegs" etc, and Multi-Tunes will allow you to quickly switch between them from within the iTunes window. Not exactly what your looking for but close.

  • Is there any way i can restore itunes to an earlier time/date, just like system restore? Thanks!

    Hi..
Is there any way i can restore itunes to an earlier date/time? I accidentally lost a previous backup and now the file showing up is not the backup i want? Can i restore itunes to an earlier time like system restore on windows? Thanks!

Actually i had my iphone os upgraded so i made a backup prior.. After the upgrade, instead of restoring data back the iphone made a new backup, overwriting my last backup, so now all my data is gone and when i went to appdata, oldest backup made is the one made after the upgrade! So i am looking for an undo of that backup, kind of a system restore for itunes.. Any suggestions? Thanks!

As stated no you can't use iTunes, but you can use your iPod with Windows 98.

    Anapod Reinitializer 1.0.0
Anapod Reinitializer is a free, lightweight utility for reformatting and reinitializing your iPod. Its function is equivalent to the Restore button in the Apple iPod Updater utility. Anapod Reinitializer runs on all versions of Windows, so it allows Windows 98/ME users (who cannot use Apple's software because it only runs on 2000/XP) to format their iPods.
    Anapod Explorer 8.7.3
Anapod Explorer is hands-down the most advanced Windows software companion for your iPod. Anapod can copy and backup iPod music and playlists to your PC and integrates your iPod into Windows Explorer as a full-fledged device under My Computer, allowing you to transfer files to your iPod as well and use a familiar Explorer interface to manage on-board music, playlists, contacts, notes, and more. Also included are a built-in database called AnapodSQL and a one-of-a-kind web-based streaming interface to your iPod called Anapod Xtreamer.

Is there any chart by which how itunes controls the iphone can be more understood easily

Good idea. I've already used the feedback for my general suggestions to improve the way Apple handles bug reports (and tried sending it to Steve Jobs too), but I'll send a specific suggestion for a bug app on the iPhone.
However, my question is whether there is a simple way to send bug reports from the iPhone now that I have overlooked.

  • Is there any way to recover lost iTune I purchased from the itunes store?

Is there any way to recover my iTunes Library without re-purchasing all the songs-library was lost in PC problems.

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time; you can see what content you can download here:

You can also re-download content using an iOS device.

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

How to delete photos from camera roll only, let the rest remain in albums? Is there any no-PC or no iTunes solution for this?

If these are albums, you created on your phone, using pics in your camera roll, you delete the pics from your camera roll & they will be deleted from the albums as well. The albums don't actually contain any photos, only pointers to the actual photos, which are in your camera roll.
So, the answer to your question is no.

  • Closed-Caption compliance for iTunes 7.4

iTunes 7.4 now has support for closed-captions. As I produced a CC podcast, I would love to dump the CC sprite for the new functionality but have not found a document with specifications for the text track nor a store video or movie to buy it.
Do you know of any store movie/video that has it? Do you know where can I find the specs for the text track?
    Thanks!

I quickly looked at the source code for that ClosedCaptionImporter. Apparently, there's a (new?) 'cdat' atom that contains the actual CEA-608 bytes used for Closed Captions. An .scc file is just a text file that contains those byte values (as text) along with some time codes. The importer reads the text files, converts the text to bytes, and uses QuickTime calls to insert those bytes into a Closed Caption Track, which you can see in QuickTime Pro with Show Movie Properties.
(The ReadMe.rtf for the importer contains a link to a site with SCC tools, and from there is a link to details on the CEA-608 byte codes: http://www.geocities.com/mcpoodle43/SCCTOOLS/DOCS/SCCFORMAT.HTML )
QuickTime Player and iTunes will read those bytes, and act like a TV does: interpret those codes to display text. (Be sure to have "Show closed captioning when available" selected in Preferences before opening the file, otherwise it doesn't seem to work.) So great, what's the actual workflow so this is usable?
There may be free tools to convert a text script to SCC format. For example, on that first tools page, there's an example of the format supported by PAS2SCC, which is at least human-readable. So somehow you get your captions into SCC, you can use the importer to create the CC track, and you can use QTPro to copy the track into the movie. I'm fuzzy as to whether the 'cdat' has to be in a .mov, and not in a .m4v, and whether that's valid for a podcast.
Otherwise, you may need to use the QuickTime API to modify the track directly, and looking at that source code, it's not crazy difficult. You might even be able to make a complete app out of it, so that you can type in text, and have it do the CEA-608 encoding. And then if you charge less than the $9000 I saw for some other similar product, you might sell a few.

  • Purchased any closed-caption movie/video?

Have you purchased a video or movie that has closed-captions?
7.4 should support material that has it and I am interested to find out what movie or video has them to purchase one and use it as a sample to add captions for my videos (podcast) that are distributed through iTunes.
You can activate this function at the View menu item:
    View/Show Closed Captions

I just purchased an episode of "Bones" since someone just told me iTunes supports closed captions. On TV, the programs are all captioned, but I can't get captions up on either iTunes or QuickTime (yes, I followed all instructions and I have the most recent software updates). Only Quicktime Pro has "show movie properties" and I don't want to pay for Pro just to find out if it's captioned or not.
Did a search on the iTunes store for "closed captions" and "closed captioned" nothing came up. I don't see any CC symbol anywhere, and don't want to spend hours searching for things that are captioned. I want that to be a search feature... look for products that are captioned only (no hearies here).
Guess I'm not going to be watching (or buying) any more stuff from iTunes until they work this out.

  • Closed Caption Features for iTune Movie Downloads?

While I was glad to see that Apple plans to offer a movie download service with the iTunes Store, I'm still inclined to NOT use the service if there's no assurance that closed captioned/subtitled movies will be available as well.
Will iTunes Movie downloads include captioned media?
Today's DVDs all have features enabling us to turn on captions/subtitles and it's already a shame that Netflix, according to a representative's comment made nearly two years ago, will not provide captioned movies "until the near future"...
I hope Apple takes its hearing-impaired (deaf and hard of hearing) customer base into consideration...and it IS a sizeable customer base.

The question on the minds of the millions of deaf and hard of hearing people is whether Apple will make or enable captioning for their downloadable movies. I blogged about this a few weeks ago at HearingExchange online here: http://www.hearingexchange.com/blogs/?p=93 Apple didn't consider people with hearing loss when they made their iPhone non-compatible with hearing aids and cochlear implant processors. For a technology company, they aren't keeping up with accessibility trends. This is both disheartening and disappointing for people who struggle to participate socially and professionally on a daily basis with the world at large.

  • Is there any way to transfer non-itunes store music to your iTunes?

I kind of killed my macbook, and it had to go to mac support and in order to make it happy and shiny again they had to wipe all of its memory.
Now, I've restored the song purchased on itunes to my itunes, but
    1. The iTunes/MacBook doesn't seem to be living harmoniously with my iPod, any way to make them realise they are long-time friends?
    2. Is there anyway to switch my non-iTunes-purchased stuff to my MacBook from my iPod.
    3. Finally if no. 2 can't be done, since I've already transfered the purchased stuff from my iPod onto my itunes library again, should I just choose the "Erase and Sync" option since when I connect them it gives me a ramble then the options " Cancel", "Transfer Purchases" which I've already hit/done, or "Erase and Sync" because I know the last will mean that I will have to put all my CDs back on, but alas, that may be what I have to do, but will that at least make them live harmoniously again with my purchased stuff safe?
Sorry about the length of the question, and thanks to whomever reads it.

    2. Is there anyway to switch my non-iTunes-purchased stuff to my MacBook from my iPod.
    Try Senuti.
It's a program that transfers music from iPod to iTunes on a Mac.
    As is Music Rescue.
There's also a similar program called Yamipod which has a Mac version.
I've used all of these on a Mac with great success.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.
