___ Is there any files out there that would be good to test trapping for a Ai trapping plug-in?

The company I work for bought an Illustrator trapping plug in, and I'm having some issues with it. I'd like to make (or prefereably) obtain a test file that would be good to test overall trapping - any ideas?

It's just litho - I was thinking that there might be some 'universal' file that exists that would test out all trap functions. Any file you could give me would be greatly appreciated (just vector obviously)- it could be uploaded and downloaded from this forum.

Check how many applications are starting when you log in, I found that if there was a lot of activity at login Finder did not display the icons on the desktop correctly, again like you it did not occur at every login, just occasionally.
For Safari have you tried resetting Safari, if that does not help you could disable plugins and extensions one at a time. You may find one of those is causing the problem.

I got my ipod touch a few days ago and before that I found a list of the "148 best free apps'. I downloaded the ones that looked good but most sucked, so are there any that are actually good and free? Rock band free version was at the top of that list and it sucked because there is only one song to play.

i spend alot of time playing lightbike, it's kinda like the old game tron, and a good tower defense game i found was TM zero, also, assassin's creed has a free game out, worlds hardest game light is pretty cool, and COD Zombies is supposed to be good, i got it and i'm having a little trouble with the controls, but it's pretty cool, jelly car is nice to, red ball also. i still haven't found to many good ones, but i got most of those recently, i only got my touch 2 days ago, so yeh.

After creating new partition with iPartition, on a nonbootdrive, I can no longer see any files stored on that drive.

I have a Hitachi disk that I use for media (photos, videos, etc..)
After using Ipartition to create a new partition on this disk, none of the files are visible any more.
The disk was never partiton before so this was the first partition created.
When I launch iPartition again, I notice that I now have a Microsoft FAT or NTFS type partion and a HFS partiton however there is no data at all under Finder.
What should I do to recover my files ?

you don't need 3rd party to shrink and create a 2nd partition.
One partition is still partition, and there are others like Lion Recovery, GUID, EFI on there.
Repair the drive and make sure iPartition does what you want and current. Or just use DU instead.
And backup.

On down loading a file the download windo appears but does not liost any files. The same happens under Thuinderbird. Has appied for about the last 2 or 3 weeks. I have the latest upgrades as of 8/18.

When I down load a file the down loads window opens but no files are listed there. (This also happens under Thunderbird). I have updated both T'bird and Firefox in the last couple of weeks. The download window was working ok , say, about 3 weeks ago. About then I cleared an existing lsit of files. Since then, nothing is shown even tho I have downloaded a few files.

alternitive soltuion:
                I have finally figured this out.
                The VMM service runs under the Local System account, I changed it to use the domain account I logged in with. I also had to change the SQL service account to use the same domain account the VMM service runs under.
Prior to performing the above actions, I modified the certificate in MMC > Certificates to not use the Smart Card option from the users profile. Shown below. To make this modification. Follow these steps.
1.       Open MMC
2.       Open > File > Add/Remove Snap-ins
3.       Select Certificates, and click Add (ensure Current – User is selected)
4.       Click OK
5.       Navigate to > Personal > Certificates
6.       Double click on the user Cert
7.       Select the Details Tab, > click the Edit Properties
8.       Select “Enable only the following purposes
9.       Uncheck Smart Card Logon
After the above actions was performed, I then modified the service account the VMM and SQL service was using to use a domain account, and things started working.

Edit: Just FYI to any that read this. This script only checks if you are in the cap range, so it's not really a bandwidth tester for the command line. The nearest I've found is 'iperf' which I'm unable to get to use yet.
Edit2 : netperf seems better suited for this, only been able to learn how to do download speed test so far:

Do you keep your photos in folders or Aperture?
How do you keep the copyright in the EXIF data but not all of your camera settings?

Since this isn't really a hardware question, I'd suggest asking in the Aperture forum. You'll be more likely to have experienced users see your question there, since not all Aperture users are using iMacs.

Is there an alarm/reminders app that would allow me to add reminders on specific days throughout the month?

The basics is - I work nightshift so I would want an alarm to wake me up before my shift, wake me up after my shift and wake me up at a certain time on my day off. Rather than doing it week by week - is there an app that would let me make alarms/reminders for the full month to save time and effort?

Photoshop CC won't open any files

I just installed PS CC on a clean machine, did nothing else, no moving of files or plugins. No Adobe products on the PC before this install. And I am unable to open any files in PS, that include opening a new untitled document. Nothing ever opens. What is going ON!? Fresh installation from Creative Cloud app tool.
System is Windows 8.1, no previous Adobe products on this box. Not impressed with Creative Cloud if this is how the tools work right out of the gate. Staff, any suggestions?

PS CS6 had the same problems initially. I did a restart of the system and now it seems to be working. So I'd make sure you tell people if they install or reinstall, try a system reboot before suggesting they start killing apps. I think that's a red herring.
The symptoms and sequence of work-around's I had were the following, which might help in understanding what was going wrong. Note, only PS seems to be affected as all other CC apps I tried successfully opened and created their file types.
Install several apps via Creative Cloud app (PS, AI, etc)
Launch PS CC (and PS CC64)
Would get an error dialog during launch about a defective existing monitor color profile (choosing 'Ignore' or 'Use' made no difference).
Try to create new file (File\New).
On first attempt you get the New Dialog UI. Select any choices, doesn't seem to matter, none resulted in a successful New Untitled windows opening.
On second attempt of File\New you get no New Dialog UI.
Try to open any existing image file on my system (any format), via File menu, or drag drop. Result is nothing, no document window opens. No errors reported by app. Just silent failure.
Uninstall PS CC. NOTE Creative Cloud app doesn't provide an uninstall option, must be done by system Control Panel.
Attempt to reinstall PS CC via Creative Cloud app, but could not because it didn't update as 'uninstalled'. Still listed PS CC as an installed app. ??
Went to Adobe site to CC Download center to initiate new install from there, but that didn't help either because it launches Creative Cloud app which still thought PS CC was already installed.
Chose PS CS6 instead so I could at least install something PS.
Test new install of PS CS6, all the same bug behavior as with PS CC. Identical to experience with PS CC.
Restart PC. PS CS6 works fine now.
Not going to try to reinstall PS CC because I just don't trust this stuff now. Will stay with PS CS6 because its now working.
Hope this helps you guys. I see a lot of people in the forums complaining about various similar issues with opening files. Something you really should address.

Any 3rd party utilities that fix full screen mode for multi-monitor users?

I am a multi-monitor user. As multi-monitor users know, full screen mode is basically useless since if you try to go full screen on one monitor, it causes the other monitor to go blank and become unusable (at least with most programs). Are there any 3rd party utitilities or fixes for this?

Spaces, which is what this functionality stems from, was limited in that it used your entire setup and switched all of the screens over; space to space. I never used spaces because I always had multiple monitors and I was always working with multiple apps simultaneously that I wanted to be able to reference while working on the others.
Now they call Spaces, "mission control" and changed the appearance of it, but the functionality remained the same, each workstation comprised all of your monitors, and would switch over all of them when switching to a new "Desktop".
Fullscreen apps wrongly assumes that it can take the functionality of the afformentioned MS/Spaces and use it for one app, negating the whole idea of why someone would have multiple screens (real estate to work with other applications).
If they stop considering multiple monitors as one Workspace, they can then make it so they are asynchronous "tablets" instead of one conjoined entity.
So, you say people have been asking about this for 2 years, I've been asking for this for 5!
The issue here is, the only answer is to not use it. Making Mission Control and Fullscreen apps completely ignored by people like us, where I could be using both functions to glide around my work station and three monitors, mixing and matching which apps I want to be viewed on each separate monitor, to perform one single task; together.
It would actually reward people who wanted to utilize Thunderbolt technology and have more then one monitor.
There is no telling why apple chose to push out something that would only support the casual user, with one display, but the only direct way to let apple know that we feel limited by the OS is to send feedback. Even though it seems that we are powerless in this situation, I hope that they do consider how to make this function better.

Why can't I move or modify any file from Documents folder without writing my administrator password?

I have a problem with the Documents folder. Everytime I try to move or modify (rename) any file located in this folder, Finder shows a message asking for the administrator password. It doesn't happen when I want to delete some file or when I do the same things in other folders like Music, Movies or Images, it only occurs in Documents folder.
I've checked the security and permissions settings, I've created other folders and moved my files there, but it did'nt work.
Do you know how can I solve it?

Is the external also named Macintosh HD?
If only the Internal is, it seems something has messed up your drive.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Reboot.
