Hi There,
Please read this mail carefully an dtry to get my point an dthen please tell me whether it is possible or not?
Case 1:
OS: Windows XP Pro
Modem: 3 COM ADSL Modem (old one)
Location: Saudi Arabia
Connection: ADSL 256 K
Ports: 0, 35 PPPOE
This 3 COM Modem is quite an old one. I bought one, switched it on, connected it with my laptop using a normal network cable. Limited conectivity connection is established. Then in my XP in IE I created a new internet connection by choosing the broadband option. Entered a username and password and when tried to connect then using the 3 COM ADSL Modem, I was online things very well, all ok. Please note that I had to do nothing in this case in terms of setting up modem etc through it's interface.
Case 2:
OS: Windows XP Pro
Modem: Linksys 4 Port Wireless ADSL Modem
Location: Saudi Arabia
Connection: ADSL 256 K
Ports: 0, 35 PPPOE
Lately I got linksys 4port wirelss modem. Without doing anything to factory settings, I connected it with my laptop and connected it using a network cable with my laptop. I got an IP (may be DHCP) is working there. Ok so far so good, next like before I opened up my earlier created Broad Band connection and clicked on it, the only message I could see there was that tryingto establish PPPOE connection, but no ADSL connection could be established. Someone told me u have tpo access router interface, I did that, then I entered the username and password there, then tried to connectd form router interface through DSL Status connection. OK I got connected. My quetsion is that I don't want to enter username and password there, is there anyyyy way, any saettings that I can do in it and like the case 1 described above, I may just use my IE created broadband connection to connect.
It would really be a great favour if someone please could help me achieve that.

If you don't want to enter your username & password there, the router will not work. Remember that the router is the one that's dialing your connection now, not the broadband connection you got in your computer.
If you don't want to have your username and password for security purposes, the best option you have is to change the default password of the router under the administration tab to make sure no one logs in and gets your username. No one guess your password because 1) it's all displayed in dots and 2) the actual length of the password is masked.
