Is there any kind of Apple event coming?

I know of the WWDC that happens in June but does apple have another event, where they could possibly announce the iPhone 5, that they do every year like the WWDC?

Apple has no regularly scheduled events other than the WWDC. All other events are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Apple has not announced any other events as of this time.

  • Is there any kind of Apple Company policy that Apple's iPhone can only be repair or service at the place from where the iPhone have bought?

    Hello,
I'm Chintan from India. I have visited UK for study and brought iPhone 5 for me. I used it for about 16 days and now its started showing the problem of coverage. I mean, it shows "NO SERVICE" at the place of carrier name and tower symbol.
    My query:
Do Apple have this kind of worthless service provider policy?
I have visited the local authorized service center and they are not accepting my iPhone 5 and telling me that they can not accept it for repair or service because I have brought it from UK. I have checked my iPhone 5 status on the Apple Site and it is showing full cover of Repair and Service, then why the local Apple Authorized Service Center is not accepting my iPhone 5?
Is there any kind of Apple Company policy that Apple's iPhone can only be repair or service at the place from where the iPhone have bought?
Kindly help me out as I'm stuck with the so called APPLE IPHONE 5.
Looking for the POSITIVE, SUPPORTIVE and HELPFUL reply.
    Thank You

You should have read the warranty/support terms before you made your purchase. Had you, you would have found that iPhone warranty/support is only valid in the country of original purchase(except for the EU where warranty/support is EU wide). In your case, your warranty/support is only valid in the EU, as you have now found out...after your purchase. And, you are correct, they will not service the phone in India.
Always been this way with the iPhone.

I've lost my ipod touch in my house--is there any kind of locator beep I can activate with my computer like on a phone headset?

It works with all iPods.  It is free for the 4G iPod.  For earlier iPod you have to subscribe to the paid MibileMe account.

  • Is there any communication with apple?

There are several bugs in the notation window, something got worse in Logic 7 compare with Logic 6, but I can get no contact with someone in the new Logic/Apple Center to talk with - is there any communication with apple? Its sad, because I work since 10 Years with Logic, and have a lot of experience with the good and bad of this programm. But it seems there is no interest: Whats your experience with apple?

    manofgodjay is right.
a lot of these bugs and problems have been around a long time. the problem is that they simply have not had a team working on score since before v5. this appears to be changing.
the score editor as it stands (if it worked properly) would still be a brilliant if limited notation program. even with the bugs, it offers such a flexible and easy and above all, fast way of working, i just can't tear myself away from it, having had a real crack at finale and sibelius.
if logic had no plans to upgrade the notator i would however make the switch to a dedicated editor to do my concert music. but with enhancements and hopefully some bug resolutions coming, i'm hanging in there. logic started out as a dedicated notation editor (it used to be called notator) and with relatively little effort, it could become a clear rival to either of the major notating platforms.
speed and flexibility is crucial to me. i have a philosophy of trying to throw out 90% of everything i write. the theory being is that if you keep your best 10% you will get the best you feasibly can. consequently, i really don't want to have to fiddle around trying to make edits to refine the basic draught. the arrange page gives me a great overview of structure and a lot flexibility to change things around. logic kicks the others into oblivion in this regard, and only stumbles in certain areas.
so if those areas were sorted out....
apple simply don't have a line of communication. they listen, but they don't tell us what they've heard, or what they believe. it can't last in my view, it is key to getting users to have faith in their product. how do we know when something goes wrong it is not something we are doing and not the program? for example, we have heard through some users on the forum who have heard from members of the development team that it is highly advisable to completely rebuild your autoloads from time to time, and particularly from previous version of logic.
well that's great, but it would be better to hear this officially on a website we can all point to with info like this on it. i cannot see any problem at all with them doing this, they possibly just need to make the decision to do it. so keep up the pressure and eventually something will happen.

  • Is there any kind of Harmonizer in logic?

Is there any kind of Harmonizer in logic, or any way i can change the pitch of a note so i can create a harmony?

    Hi,
I use Vocal Transformer in combination with Automation to do so (if you'd want to do harmonies with an instrument, you should use Pitch Shifter).
I copy the original audio to an empty track with the Vocal Tranformer, zoom in, and draw in pitch changes at the right moment. So, if the interval needs to be "up a major third", I draw an event "+4".
It takes a little time, but it works!

  • Is there any hope of apple adding a 're-link with media folder'-type function to iTunes?

Is there any hope of apple adding a 're-link with media folder'-type function to iTunes?
I have 1000s of broken links after installing the latest version of iTunes and updating some files in my media folder. The location of my itunes library has not changed, and all the files are there (I know because I've just waited several hours for the files to be updated by my ultra-slow computer) - by my logic, there should be some menu option that simply re-synchronises with the media folder, just like itunes would do with an ipod - it can't be that hard can it? The only way I can restore a link is by clicking every song (I have over 28,000) and locating the file in the folder that iTunes claims to use as its media folder - the new version 10 option of then using this location to restore all broken links doesn't work because it only looks in the specific album file, and after a couple of times this dialog box no longer even comes up, so I couldn't ask it to do this even if I wanted to. At the moment the only option I can see is to completely wipe iTunes and re-load all my music from scratch - using my tired and over-worked computer this will realistically take around 15 hours that I don't have, and my computer will melt in the process. I wish I'd never tried to 'tidy up' my iTunes library...
PLEASE Apple, how hard can it be to have a function that searches for and restores broken links by itself????? I've told you where the music is - just flipping look for it yourself instead of getting me to do it!

You don't have to re-rip, re-import or re-download all your content. You can clear the iTunes library, either by selecting all in the libary and pressing the Delete key, saying "no" when it asks if you want to remove the files themselves, and then use the Add To Library command, selecting the iTunes Media folder (or iTunes Music folder, as applicable to your situation), and that will add back all your content. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes; if it does, something may be amiss with your hard drive or the library file is corrupted (in which case just delete the library file and re-do the Add To Library command).
    Regards.

  • Is there any kind of change log for UME?

Is there any kind of logging of changes to users or roles in UME?  We are on GRC 5.3 SP13.
We have a strange situation in our production RAR system.  The Change History shows some changes where made to a function on 7/8.  However the userid indicated by the Changed By field currently shows as not havig access to make function changes in production.
They can make function changes in test, so I thought maybe they did an Rule Import.  However they don't have the access in production to perform the Rule Import either.  Also, the Change History in the test RAR system does not show any changes to the function in question by this userid on 7/8.
I am assuming that if you did a Rule Import and brought over the Change History records, the date on these records would be the exact same as shown in test.  (i.e. they would show the date when the function change was made in the test system, not the date when the Change History was imported into production)
Also the Change History shows the last Rule Upload was on 7/2, and the last Rule Generation was also run on 7/2.  This would seem to indicate that no one else performed a Rule Import on 7/8 either.
    Any ideas on what happened?
The only thing I can think of is that this user did have the access back on 7/8, but that it has since been removed.  But I don't have a way to prove this.
    Thanks.

    Hi Bob,
Looking at your explanation, it seems impossible situation. How ever I remember in early patches of GRC AC 5.3 there was an issue with RAR change log. The change history would show wrong IDs in Function/Risk change.
That was fixed in patch 9. Not sure whether the same issue is returned again.

Kappy's Personal Suggestions About Mac Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utility is: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior for defragmentation of older drives, disk repair, disk scans, formatting, partitioning, disk copy, and benchmarking.
Four outstanding sources of information on Mac maintenance are:
    1. OS X Maintenance - MacAttorney.
    2. Mac maintenance Quick Assist
    3. Maintaining Mac OS X
    4. Mac Maintenance Guide
    Periodic Maintenance
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) See Mac OS X- About background maintenance tasks. If you are running Leopard or later these tasks are run automatically, so there is no need to use any third-party software to force running these tasks.
If you are using a pre-Leopard version of OS X, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced after Tiger.  (These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion and should not be installed.)
    Defragmentation
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive except when trying to install Boot Camp on a fragmented drive. Malware Protection
As for malware protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. Starting with Lion, Apple has included built-in malware protection that is automatically updated as necessary. To assure proper protection, update your system software when Apple releases new OS X updates for your computer.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection:
    1. Mac Malware Guide.
    2. Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware
    3. Macintosh Virus Guide
For general anti-virus protection I recommend only using ClamXav, but it is not necessary if you are keeping your computer's operating system software up to date. You should avoid any other third-party software advertised as providing anti-malware/virus protection. They are not required and could cause the performance of your computer to drop.
    Cache Clearing
I recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, Mountain Lion Cache Cleaner 7.0.9, Maintenance 1.6.8, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Corrupted cache files can cause slowness, kernel panics, and other issues. Although this is not a frequent nor a recurring problem, when it does happen there are tools such as those above to fix the problem.
If you are using Snow Leopard or earlier, then for emergency cleaning install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. (AppleJack works with Snow Leopard or earlier.)
    Installing System Updates or Upgrades
Repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand.
Update your backups in case an update goes bad.
    Backup and Restore
Having a backup and restore strategy is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your computer. Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. You can never have too many backups. Don't rely on just one. Make several using different backup utilities. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
         1. Carbon Copy Cloner
         2. Get Backup
         3. Deja Vu
         4. SuperDuper!
         5. Synk Pro
         6. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance and backup and restore.
Always have a current backup before performing any system updates or upgrades.
    Final Suggestions
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity or 20 GBs, whichever is greater, as free space. Avoid installing utilities that rely on Haxies, SIMBL, or that alter the OS appearance, add features you will rarely if ever need, etc. The more extras you install the greater the probability of having problems. If you install software be sure you know how to uninstall it. Avoid installing multiple new software at the same time. Install one at a time and use it for a while to be sure it's compatible.

Most if not all maintenance is for troubleshooting problems. If your computer is running OK, then there isn't really a thing you need to do except repair the hard drive and permissions before installing any new system updates.

  • Is there any update regarding Apple maps from Apple...?

is there any update regarding Apple maps from Apple...? I live in sydney. I Know there are lots of issues with Apple maps but i reported more than 3 issues and i could see there is no resolution for those issues ?

Apple does not broadcast anything.   The audio encoding options selected for content is controlled by the services the content comes from.  Apple just distributes content they are provided with.  I am not 100% sure but I believe the current ATV only supports 5.1 so it is pretty likely 7.1 could not be supported with out a new ATV device update, and they have not updated ATV in about four years now.   Starting to wonder if they are going to.   They used to own this market and now have pretty much lost it.   You might check Amazon Fire.   I think it might support 7.1.   I finally gave up on waiting on Apple and bought one and am mostly happy with it.

There are always new MacBook Pro models coming out soon. However with current 2011 models you can install the faster, Rosetta program loving OS X Snow Leopard with a hack, instead of the new clitchy and unstable OS X Lion.
So you have a choice now, but for not much longer. If you wait another 6 -8 months, Lion will be stable and more programs will be compatible with it.
If this is your first Mac, I would wait. If you can do a simple hack with another Snow Leopard Mac, then you can opt to get one now and revert it to Snow Leopard and have a stable machine.
Else take your chances with Lion.
