Is there any new word (newer than "in July") on when Apple will be releasing the Thunderbolt to FireWire Adaptor?

Not yet.

  • When will we see the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter?

The keynote mentions it but only the gigabit Ethernet adapter is available. It's mentioned on the ThunderBolt page
    http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt/

There is a firewire out in the new (999.00) Thunderbolt Display. A lot to pay for the right to use firewire. And evidently, the display has firmware issues. This doesn't bode well for those of us who are audio professionals and rely on firewire for nearly eventhing we do. Belkin has a (400.00) dock coming out supposedly in Sept. Still expensive just to get one silly little FW port.
I imagine that, if Apple actually does have a 29.00 cable adaptor, it'll wait till the last minute to release it - losing lots of friends, but making bucks off of those who, in desperation, cave in and buy the Display before Belkin's product hits the shelves.
The final question, of course, is whether a down-conversion from Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 actually works - and many of the more common digital to audio converters are in the F400 mode. I imagine that, if this down-conversion doesn't work, there'll be a significant migration of audio professionals away from Mac computers in the future, as FW ports go by the boards.

  • Any time frame for when we will be getting the Android 5.0 upgrade on the Verizon G3?Type your question

Any time frame for when we will be getting the Android 5.0 upgrade to the G3 on Verizon?

No one from Verizon can or will give you a timeline. They have no idea. Verizon can't even test 5.0 until they get it from LG first so perhaps you should be asking them.

  • HT4623 When it will be released the Firmware 6.1.4 for Iphone4s ?

When it will be released the Firmware 6.1.4 for Iphone4s ?

There probably never will be a release of that version for other iPhones since 6.1.4 is to address a specific issue with the iPhone 5. Whether there will be a general 6.1.5 release (or some other number ) and if so when that will appear is something none of us here will know or can say.

  • HT4818 Is there any word on when apple will support Windows 8 in bootcamp?

    Hi all,
Is there any word on if Apple will officially support W8 using Bootcamp (and not Parrallels etc)?
I assume that it will happen once W8 is officially released in October however I was wondering if anyone has any official word.
Otherwise, if a clean install of the Win 8 RTM is already able to be done via bootcamp can someone point me to some instructions (the only reason I dont want to do it myself is because all the drivers from BC are for Win 7)

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Apple will support it when Windows 8 is released. You can install Windows 8 at your risk, because Boot Camp doesn't support it now

  • Any REAL news on when Apple will be sending out second shipments

    Jacob,
is there any new news this afternoon to offer. I am 27th in line at my bestbuy in Hoover, AL and the guy John that they have handling all the preorders is doing great with what he has to offer but just figure i would see if you had anything to offer.
I am ready to have my iphone 4 so i can start complaining about its short comings like everyone else ha. but no seriously i am so anxious
thanks for whatever you can offer!!!!

Well, I imagine many stores will get some today and tomorrow.  Basically, Apple will keep shipping until we reach allotment.  Then, Best Buy® logistics will take over.
I don't have specific info since we're not the ones shipping.  I'm sorry!  But, your store should call as soon as they have a phone for you.

  • I know about the lack of boxes, but are there any more specific answers from Apple about what's going on for the ipod nano replacements?

I've been watching the forums for a while now, and I know about the box shortage, but I'm afraid there are still some things that confuse me. It's been almost three weeks since I submitted a request for the first gen nano replacement program. Has anyone else been waiting this long? I admit, it's really frustrating to just have to wait with no word from Apple about when we can expect to recieve boxes.
I was also wondering if there's been any sort of answer on what the mailed-in nanos are being replaced with. Brand new first gen nanos, new nanos of a different generation, refurbished nanos (first gen or otherwise)? Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places, but I haven't seen a definitive answer. Has anyone completed the whole replacement program who can answer this?
Thanks for all the help! I was so excited when I first got the email telling me about this replacement program, but it's difficult when everything seems so vague.

I was also wondering if there's been any sort of answer on what the mailed-in nanos are being replaced with.
Call the replacement program (phone# is listed) & ask them.

  • Is there any estimate as to when firefox will be available for compatablility with Coby MID1126, currently when i try to download from the Android Market it says you don't have any devices (it is a wifi tablet connecting at a free wifi hotspot)

i tryed downloading the package and installing it off the usb port as a download and the file crashed

Except for the Telechips TCC88xx processor series, all of the others are not ARMv7 type of cpu's but say ARMv6 or ARMv5. http://www.telechips.com/eng/Product/Product.asp
It is more of a matter of whether the device has the appropriate hardware (and 512+ MB RAM) versus making mobile Firefox for specific devices, especially if they do not have a ARMv7 type of cpu.

  • Is there any way I can connect an ethernet cable to the air with an adapter?

  • How can I return my PDF doc back into word doc when Acrobat will not read the files.

I changed one doc into a PDF and now all my doc have changed to PDF. I need to have all my word doc back but the Adobe said it can not read the formate.

    Hi Jewelhbowie1,
What was your workflow to change the word doc to PDF format.
The Acrobat application/Service does not change the original document it makes copy of that document and converts to another format you choose.
Please share your steps that you choose to convert the word doc to pdfs.
    Regards,
    Ajlan Huda.

  • When apple will start selling the UNLOCKED iphone 5???

    when?!

Sorry, no one here will know that. However, the phone is being sold in some countries as unlocked (Canada & UK).

  • Are there any problems using the Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter?

I found the only way to migrate my old mac to my new i
mac was to use a firewire 800 to thunderbolt adapter, or ethernet. Am I correct?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can also migrate wirelessly > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889
However, I recommend you to use FireWire to migrate from your old Mac because it will be much faster than Wi-Fi or Ethernet, so if your old Mac has got a FireWire port, buy the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter for your Late 2012 iMac and migrate from your old computer

  • Apple no longer making thunderbolt to firewire adapter!

I just visited an apple store today to be told that Apple are no longer making the thunderbolt to firewire adapter which was meant to be released this month (July). Calling Apple customer support also confirmed this. It is also no longer mentioned as a option, when ordering a new MBP retina on the Apple online store.
As I've just purchased a new MBP retina for portable video editing, the prospect of not being able to plug in all my legacy firewire drives to the MBP is very frustrating, and I'm sure many people are in the same situation. Trying to daisy chain via a USB 3 LaCie drive to firewire did not work when tested and it's likely that any other solutions via hubs etc, will probably require mains power. For ediitng on the road via bus powered drives, firewire is suddenly not an option at present.
Many of us have gone through these transitions before as Apple pushes new and better technology forward at the expence of backwards compatibility. Thunderbolt will be great, but curently it is expensive and not widely adopted, where as firewire drives are considerbaly cheaper than thunderbolt drives and many of us have a large number of these drives being used on a daily basis.
I'm sure other manufactures will be scrabling to bring a thunderbolt to firewire adapter to the market, however the fact that Apple has stopped making it before it was even released is alarming.

And yet, FireWire became an industry standard. Your argument is invalid.
Key word highlighted (in comparison to "has become"). As Shootist points out, it is harder and harder to find any kind of FW device out there. Hence my soon to be orphaned 11 external HDDs, 2 of which only have FW and probably be unusable when I have to replace my current Mac. The rest fortunately have USB2 too and will have to function in a slow speed crippled mode when the time comes.
Even Apple is hedging its bets, else why add two USB3 ports and the HDMI in addition to the purportedly wonderful TB?

  • I can-t see netTV from Mediaset on the ipad because I cannot install Silverlight. Is there any ipad compatible Silverlight version goin to be released? When? Or is there any other apple application I can use in place of Silverlight?

I just want to see a service I'm paying for on the ipad instead of PC, it should be allowed!!!!
    Roberto

I red about a Silverlight 5 version that should run also on ipad/iphone, annouced last year for 2011, but I can't find any recent update. On apple store you can find a silverlight 3 version at 5.99$, but it does not seem to be the same thing, just same name.
I'm not sure that this closure is a good policy from apple side. If I knew in advance I would never buy an ipad.
