  • I am trying increase free space in my IMac, is there any need for keeping the app installing mountain lion?

Removing "install Mountain Lion" from mac OSX 10.9.4.

If you're running 10.9.4 (Mavericks) and you have no need to revert to the earlier version of OS X (Mountain Lion) you can delete it. However, you may want to make a copy of it on to an external DVD or USB stick first 'just in case'. It may save you another 5gb+ download in the future if you ever did find you wanted to revert to Mountain Lion.

  • Can't install my Mountain Lion again on my Mac Pro -- help please.

I can't install Mountain Lion again on my Mac Pro: got this message: This copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. Delete this copy of the application, and go to apple store ...

Well, the hard disk has been replaced and the Apple people replaced but innstalled the older OS (
X Lion 10.7)! So I tried to reinstall the newer OS which from App Store under Purchases but I had the problem I stated earlier:  This copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. Delete this copy of the application, and go to apple store ... Hopefully, I can get this fixed! thanks!

Tap the App Store icon in your iPad.
In the search field top right in the App Store window type in:

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • I have installed mountain lion on my early 2009 macbook (not unibody) and it is terrible, it's like owning a windows pc again (almost) What can I do? I paid for mountain lion, is there any way of giving it back and getting a refund?

I have installed mountain lion on my early 2009 macbook (not unibody) and it is terrible, it's like owning a windows pc again (almost) What can I do? I paid for mountain lion, is there any way of giving it back and getting a refund? obvisoulsy after unintalling it. I couldn't see any reason why it would be bad for my particular macbook, and it downloaded without a problem.

In what way is it terrible? Mountain Lion is pretty stable. If you are having problems, most likely they are unique to your particular system and can be fixed. If you don't like some of the new features, that does not constitute reason for a refund.
If that does not suit you, you will have to discuss a refund with Apple, as they are the only ones who can say. Note that the App Store terms do say that all sales are final, so you are not guaranteed a refund, especially since whatever problems you had are not due to defective software.

There is no way that I know of to install iChat because it is not supported in ML. You may want to read a couple of these Threads

  • CAN'T FRESH INSTALL MOUNTAIN LION

    I have a mid 2010 17" MacBook Pro.
Had been using it for years till now.
Recently, I reinstalled mountain lion and boot camp (for web ATM).
The first time it couldn't boot up was 2 weeks ago. No matter how I try, just couldn't boot up after I used **** windows.
I thought it was virus from windows, so I re-do it again.
This time, I can't even fresh install mountain lion, it says there's some problem with the installation program, and ask me to try again.
I even made a flash stick of ML, and says the same thing.
I tried all the disk utility stuff. verify, recovery, clean.
And I used the Apple Hardware Test tool to test it, says nothing wrong with my mac. (I did extention test as well.)
    My Hardware Description:
    Name: MacBook Pro
    Model: MacBookPro6.1
    CPU: intel Core I5
    Core Number:2
    CPU Speed: 2.53 Hz
    L2 Cache: 512 KB
L3 CPU flash memory: 3 MB
    BOOT ROM VERSION: MBP61.88z.0057.B0F.1112091028
    System Serial: C02DXOXODC79
What happened to my MBP???? Please help~
Thanks in advance if any reply.

All installs require the Operating Systems Disk to Install an Upgrade and you must Purchase the Install Disk.
Remember if you choose this method to Get the Retail Disk.
If either of you have OSX 10.6.8 you can Install Mavericks FREE from the Apple App's Store. Be sure you read the System Requirements, before Installing Mavericks.

  • HT3775 Is there any thing I can do about playing a video that's avi through QuickTime Player that isn't apparently a motion JPEG only?

  • Can't re install Mountain Lion

    Hi,
    Long story short:
Have Mountain Lion installed on my early 09 iMac with 8 gigs ram
    Filled up my orignial internal HD;
Had Mac Store put in a new internal HD
They must have installed Leopard or some eariler OS on it; when I got it home I was surprised that it wasn't blank; it booted as a new Mac.  It was otherwise empty.
I copied my files over to the new internal drive.
When I tried to boot it of course it wouldn't.  I don't recall all the hassles I've had with it.
    I wound up reinstalling from my Snow Leopard discs;
    Now it wouldn't take my PW;
I used the terminal and made a new PW
Eventually I got to the SL desktop.
Of course then I could not download Mountain Lion without first updating to 10.6.8 SL
So I did. And then it wouldn't let me log in again.
I tried re making new pw's etc.,, etc., etc.  (can you tell I'm ****** by now?)
So i went back to re installing SL again; I'm back into my SL desktop (the version prior to the update).
So now since Apple insists on using their Store app I cannot download my purchased Mountain Lion upgrade and i cannot get to a higher upgrade than the original SL version so I can't use the Store app.
I didn't want to wipe the HD and start over; but is this my only option now?
    Thanks,

When I tried to invoke Time Machine it said no useable B/U could be found, even though I'd been using it all along and was surprised there wasn't one. I don't have any other B/U system except my old internal HD with everthing on it--including ML OS.
I'm not going to risk quitting the installer to try to save the huge ML file I'm still downloading; I'm going to just go for the automatic installation. I'd have to DL it again anyway even if I knew how to save a copy of it.  My understanding is it goes away once it's used--which is why I couldn't find it on my old internal disk.
Update: as of a few minutes ago, after about the fourth attempt, I was able to update SL to allow me access to the Apple Store.  I did this by first making a new administrator account in SL that did not require ANY password. I reasoned that I would thus be able to gain entry no matter what; apparently it worked, or something else did this trip around the merry-go-round.
Right now, I'm  stilll downloading the Mountain Lion update (glacier speed, of course).
The final test will be if the whole thing blows up when I install ML.  If it does, I'm wiping the HD and starting completely over.  I'll then try to move my files folder by folder onto the new HD and go through the ordeal of reinstalling all my software again.
This is a true PAIN in the butt and time waster.  One would think that the updaters would be able to recognize and simply delete or quarantine incongruent system files so they can't wreck things.  And one would think there was a non-magical/secret way to download and make bootable a copy of any OS.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Why can't I install mountain lion on OSX 10.6.8 MACBOOK PRO?

I downloaded the mountain lion install app and now i can't install it I get the "This disk cannot be used to startup your computer" error when I try and install. If i back out to the main install page and try it again then i get this error "OSX cannot be installed on Macintosh HD". I have read similar posts and done appropriate responses such as verifying and reparing the HD. I have a Time Capsule that I backup to and I've tried disconnecting from it and ensured its not backing up during my attempts to install. Nothing seems to work. HELP!!!!
    Computer Stats:
    Early 2009 13" Macbook Pro
    Model identifier: macbookpro 5,5
    ram: 8GB
    HD space available: 60GB
    Processor: Duo core 2.53
Nothing out of the ordinary. I don't have any crazy setups, pretty much straight out of the box.

It was partitioned at one point when I had windows 7 on a boot camp partition. When I deleted it I formed it back into one partition. The only disk that shows up to choose in the installer is my main HD. Hope the pic helps.
