Is there any way of saving the laptop if some liquid was spilled over it?

I accidentally spilt some milk over my MacBook Air keyboard earlier today. I have dried it as best I can and no milk is dripping out from the keys now. I have put the laptop upside down like a tent so it can dry out. It doesn't look like any liquid went into the vent at the bottom of the laptop but I can't tell for sure.
It was switched on and screen was frozen on the password window when the milk was spilt. I then pressed the button to switch it off and that process took some time. Now it doesn't switch back on.
Has anyone had this happen to them and if so, is it possible to save the laptop? Can Apple support help and or recover data from the laptop? My laptop is out of warranty but I would like to see whether Apple support can help and how much it costs, and pay to have it fixed.
Cheers

Liquid spills, why your MacBook Air chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible. The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook Air’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind. There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse. Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement. In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
YES, your notebook can be "saved".....having repaired them, they can ALL be fixed,....but cost escalates to the point of "whats the use?"
When damage is SO high, its close to the cost of a new machine, then fixing is futile

  • Is there any way to tell the last date my ipod was plugged into my computer?

OKay, this may be a techie question, but I'm pretty savvy so if this info is contained in a file somewhere, you can feel free to explain how to find it, I can look for it.
i Misplaced my iPod nano at some point in time, and knowing the last date I synced it to iTunes or even plugged it in would be HUGELY helpful in helping me to maybe locate it.  IS there any way to see this information (the date specifically) anywhere on my computer dated in any file?
I Did look at devices and the iPod wasn't listed there, (only my more recent iPad and iPhone as backups) so I'm assuming maybe this wasnt an option in earlier versions of iTunes at least when I last had that sucker plugged in.
IIt's Moreso just killing me that I can't find it, and I KNOW it's one of a few places.
    ANy help is great!
    thanks!

  • Is there any way of saving progress in a game/app when you remove it from the ipad to the cloud

Is there any way of saving progress in a game/app when you remove it from the ipad to the cloud.
Basically i have a 16gb ipad2 (big mistake) so space on the ipad  is precious. obviously i occasionally need to remove games/apps to make way for other apps from my cloud. The problem is, when I remove an app to make way for the new app I lose all my progress in that game apart from the option to save leader-board stats (which is the least important thing to me). Its very annoying to get so far in a game only to have to remove it to make way for a movie and lose all my progress!!!!!
    Any way round this?

I do not know how to save game data when deleting an app, but as for updating, if you connect the ipad to a computer and do the update through itunes, you will not have to download the update package to the ipad just to the computer. so you don't have to free up quite so much space, as for movie and photo storage you can look at the sandisk wireless and airstash wireless SD card adapters, they create their own wireless network and come with apps that allow you to store and then stream movies to the ipad instead of loading them to the ipad storage.

  • I accidently reverted a track to saved, is there any way to recover the recording?

i accidently reverted a track to saved, is there any way to recover the recording?

Do you mean, you reverted your project to saved? If you are lucky, the recording still might be in the project package ( if you copied a region of your recording to another track).
Open the project package in the Finder by ctrl-clicking the project and look at the recordings in the subfolder "Media".
If there is a more recent Time Machine Backup of your project, enter Time Machine, locate the version that may contain your recording and copy the Media folder to the Desktop or any place you like and then reimport the missing track to your project.

When my wife's Mac Book Pro was being updated to the latest version of OS X the laptop locked up at a grey screen with the Apple icon and status bar.  Is there any way to recover the data and complete the install?  I have not tried anything yet because of the data issue.  I am not sure which OS X version as I did not install the software.

Ok so I cant open my Itunes due to Windows Error 2 and the message says to uninstall and re-install Itunes but I'm pretty sure that would wipe the library right? Is there any way to fix the problem and keep my library?

    Hi neffn!
I have an article for you that can help you go through that process of uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. If you have Windows 7, you will want to see this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
and if you are using Windows XP, you will want to reference this article:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
Note that, as it says in those articles:
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. If you're unsure how to backup, see iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • Is there any way to import the PST file to Thunderbird

My boss used Outlook 2010 to store all his emails. Is there any way to import the PST file to Thunderbird so he can access them from a new computer?
Thunderbird cannot be installed on the old computer and Outlook is not on the new computer. All information is saved in a PST file on our local backup.
Alternatively, is there a way to convert to a file type that CAN be imported? This is a 5GB file. (I know, I KNOW, but I cannot convince him he doesn't need all of these emails.)

Does he use an e-mail provider with sufficient mailbox space? In that case, you can move the e-mail back to the server and download it using Thunderbird.
This only works when you configure the e-mail account with IMAP (not POP3).
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there any way to change the type of Transport like workbench to Customiz

    Hi All,
Here we are having very silly question.
Is there any way to change the type of Transport like from
Workbench to Customize and from Customize to Workbench within the same client.
Assume that there the no object associated with the transport.
Your quick respose is highly appreciated...
    Thanks in Advance!

    No this cannot be done.
Both work bench and custimizing are separate entites when it comes to tranport layers config.
You cannot save a report change into customizing request this will be saved into work bench request only .
In the same way table entries or some customizing tasks can be captured only into custimizing tr.
    Br,
    Vijay.

  • Is there any way to eliminate the locked file function in iWork apps?

Hi, I recently added Lion to my Mac. Is there any way to eliminate the "locked file" function. I do not use iCloud or Time Machine on my Mac. Thanks. Bob

I don't use Time Machine either but the option for this function is in the Time Machine options.
Open System Preferences > Time Machine
    Click 'Options'
The bottom option should be about auto-saving. To stop applications from locking documents, uncheck the box. To extend the peiod before the document is locked, select the appropriate time from the drop-down menu.
    Hope that;s what you wanted!

  • Is there any way to extend the spin time?

I'm retrieving heaps of old jobs from archived CDs and DVDs and what's becoming apparent is the time the CD/DVD is spinning. I can understand saving energy etc, but it's not very long at all, which means I've been spending about 3 or 4 seconds per job, waiting for the disc to spin up. Times that over the hundred+ jobs I've got, and it'll add up.. Is there any way to extend the spin time to something more like 30 seconds, or something else?

    Hello Kit,
The only thing you could try is to deselect the "spin down hard disk's when possible" option in the energy saver System Pref's. I doubt this will provide much success, but its worth a shot.

  • Is there any way to extend the roaming data expiration period?

    The title says it all:)
Is there any way to extend the 30-days roaming data expiration period?

No, this is not controllable directly by apps or by users (and 30-days is not contractual).
If your app needs to store data in the cloud perpetually then you'll need to use your own server.
If the app is installed then roamed data will still be saved on the client systems until the user removes it.

    Hello Irene,
you should have a look at Adobe's database, to see what's stored/saved about your accounts. Here you will find general infos about your Adobe Account

  • Is there any way to prevent the OS from querying the Superdrive when start

Just a random question. Whenever my MacBook Pro starts up (either from sleep or a complete/fresh start, the OS queries the drive slot to see if there is a disc present. While this may be normal behavior, it seems to slow down the start up process. (I rarely ever have a disc in the drive). Just curious if this, in fact, normal, or if there's something awry.

Is there any way to prevent the OS from querying the Superdrive when start
    No
he OS queries the drive slot to see if there is a disc present.
How can you tell? Based on the noise it makes?
