Is there any way to add chapter markers running Mavericks? Is there a reason they have been stripped out the new OSX?
Depending on your choice of workflows, it appears you can still
1) Add chapter marks manually with QT 7 Pro,
2) Add chapter markers graphically using GarageBand,
3) Use a video editor to set chapter markers graphically,
4) Use a DVD conversion/burning app to set specific or add equi-interval chapter markers, or
5) Use a media/device player that adds playback only chapter makers when no chapter track is embedded within the file.
What kind of chapter markers are you referring to here? Mine are not "stripped out" during normal use but can be automatically removed during various conversion workflows.

Long story short: I hate the default marker color of olive green, especially since my current project is shot in nature so they are essentially visually invisible when I look at the timeline with thumbnails on. So it'd be nice to use chapter markers (I've given them a hotkey) since they're vibrant red. But when I use the keystroke, the marker options popup dialog box appears. Is it possible to disable the popup?
I use markers by adding them on the fly while watching all raw footage stringed together in a dedicated timeline (to quickly weed out select takes). This is a somewhat common technique amongst editors who learned from old "film" film editors (they did the same with workprints & a grease pencil). Currently I'm having to press "D" to select the current clip playing, and then press "M" (custom hotkey) to mark the take. It'd be nice to do so in a single button push… anyone know of such a way?
Of course, just letting us change the marker colors would be nice too. Btw, I already did feature requests for these.
This issue alone causes me to just do projects in FCP7 still. I'm trying to finally fully transition to Premiere Pro with this one, but this marker thing is killing me... Adobe peoples if you're reading this.

Hi Ann, thanks for the suggestions. As with a lot of editors, having just the video head displayed occupies every clip's duration when looking at a long timeline. And dealing with the chapter marker popup is a huge speedbump when we're talking about literally dozens of markers.
I posted my questions as a shot in the dark, assuming there was a 99.9% chance that there's no solution in Premiere, but I appreciate your info.

If you don't have a backup or never imported your pics to your computer, then no you can't retrieve it.

FCP does not have that capability. You can add chapter markers in Compressor, but that would be another recompression step, and you can dd them in GarageBand. Perhaps it might be best to add them in iDVD. Can you add them in iDVD?
It would be an excellent feature request to have them in FCP, though I'm not sure how they would implement it.

The scenario is, we have created the IBD and deleted one of the line item and saved it.
We went to VL32N and added the missing line item to IBD but PO number and corresponding item number of PO field of newly added line items are grayed out. We are not able to add PO number in VL32N screen.
Is there any way to add PO number and corresponding line item of PO in VL32N screen of IBD? Our client does not want to create new IBD for same PO. He wants to add the line item in same IBD.

In iChat and early versions of Messages this used to be CMD + K keys together
This no longer works.
It seems CMD + K is free as a Modifier keystroke.
I would have added it as an item in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts.
The issue with that is the fact that there is also no longer an Menu item for it. (so it does not work).
You can add a URL and then Right Click and there is an Edit option but this only allows you to change the URL and not add a URL to existing unsent text.
Right Clicking unlinked Text does not allow you to Edit it either (well there are some format option but not Hyperlinks)
I can't find away around this.
I know in the past the AIM service suffered from malicious code sent in Hyperlinks so this might be the reason.

Hi I am a web designer and ahve been working hard recently in adding new web graphic skills to my arsenal. Now, the problem I have been expiriencing with elements 8 is that while trying to reproduce a mirrored text effect, following a tutorial online I found myself not being able to add a layer mask on top of one of the text layers, to then apply a gradient. In the end I did it with Fireworks but is there any way around it in Photoshop Elements 8.

You do it 10.0.1 in much the same way you did in iMovie version 9. You use Picture-in-Picture.

I know we can say 'this is mom or this is dad" but when an email is sent it identifies the device that sent it so why not imessages too?

Stop using the same apple id on all your devices. Each person should have their own. You can still share apps via home sharing.

I've been checking out some other notes apps like Evernote, Simplenote, and Vesper, and the main thing I like about all of them and wish Apple's Notes app had are tags. I keep a lot of notes, and having tags just makes it a lot easier to process or keep track of everyhting. But I don't see a way to add tags to the Notes app on Mac or iOS and was wondering if maybe I'm missing something.
It isn't the end of the world if I have to use one of the other notes apps, but I prefer to use the stock apps for some of the little conveniences (like being able to ask Siri to make a note).

No, there isn't a way to do it.
You could manually put tags like #tag1 #tag2 or something of your convention in the notes and seach for them, but there is no functionality to support organized tagging (or filtering via tags) in Notes right now.
