Is there any way to back up imessages

I've recently experienced the problem of the "other" category in my storage bar taking up 17.04 GB. I'm assuming that this means that there is some corrupted data in there somewhere as I've gone and deleted a bunch of emails, and photos, etc. with no result.
The next logical step is to restore my ipod. But I would like to keep some conversation threads from imessage. Is there any way I can do this without taking them down word for word in a text document?
Thanks!

There is no way to export the Messages on your iPod except screen shots or cut and paste the text.

Your own movies are backed up in the camera roll wich is backed up to iCloud. You should be able to restore the movies if something were to happen to them if you use iCloud for your backups. You would have to purchase more storage from iCloud, but the videos will be backed up
You get 5GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)

  • I have an old MacBook (Mac OSX 10.5.8) with iPhoto '08.  Is there any way to back up not only the photos, but the way I have organized them into events and labeled them?

I have an old MacBook (Mac OSX 10.5.8) with iPhoto '08.  Is there any way to back up not only the photos, but the way I have organized them into events and labeled them?

    Yes. Back up the Library.
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

If you aren't going to live that long maybe you should give up with computers and start enjoying the few remaining hours.

  • Is there any way to lock the iMessage settings?

Is there any way to lock the Imessage setting on an Iphone so my Childred dont have access to my texts on my their Iphone?

This means you and your children are sharing the same Apple ID for iMessage.
You need to get your own Apple ID to be used for iMessage on your iPhone. You can continue using your existing Apple ID for iTunes store purchases.

  • TS2755 Is there any way to recover an iMessage conversation directly to your iPhone?

I have managed to delete a full iMessage conversation that meant a lot to me. Is there any way of recovering this directly back on to my iPhone? I'm not all that clued up with what I have backed-up and how to use recovery etc.

I have done a back up of my phone and luckily it was yesterday afternoon so wont be losing much if I restore it. However this brings me to my next query, I tried to recover the iPhone however it told me there is not enough space on the iPhone to do so. Does this mean I have to clear the iPhone and then recover it?

  • Is there any way to respond with imessage in the menubar?

I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion and have been wondering if there is some way to put imessage in the menu bar for quick responding capablities? I have been looking for a number of ways to tweak my mac and speed up my workflow.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

There's not way to send a iMessage from the menu bar, but if you want, you can put Messages on the menu bar to access quickly to Messages. To do that, open Messages. Then, go to the Messages menu, on the menu bar, and select Preferences. Finally, mark "Show status in menu bar"

  • Is there any way to back up a preconfigured iPad and deploy to new iPads using Configurator??

To clarify,  we have about 100 ipads deployed in our district and lots more on the way.  We had just used iTunes in the past to backup one master device with the apps and restored on the remaining sets of iPads.  Obviously we wanted a simpler way to manage this as we are getting a lot more iPads coming in for use in the different schools.  We got a MDM solution (Casper) and started using Configurator.
We are running the latest of Configurator (1.4.2) and IOS (7.0.4).
From what I have read (and a lot at that) I know that there are numerous issues with this setup (hopefully addressed very soon)
    Here is my question:
Is it possible to take an already deployed device, loaded with apps (paid and free), back it up in Configurator, and deploy it to other iPads and still get all the apps to come down along with the restore?
Apparently this was possible in the past, I am just wondering if I am missing something.  Any help or suggestions on how you are doing it would be very helpful
Oh, and to clarify, we are using VPP for the apps, just not managing them any where at this time, haven't decided the best tool for that, maybe casper maybe configurator, but we are compliant, only using the same quantity of apps that we have purchased.
    Thanks
    Edit: spelling error

I've heard if you contact your apple rep, Apple may restore your vpp codes so you can move to an MDM.

  • The laptop I had my itunes account on is no longer available for my use. My iphone was backed up to that laptop. Is there any way to back up to another computer?

I had my iTunes on my work issued laptop and it crashed. I still have the laptop, but everything that was on it has been cleared out. I am now using my home PC for itunes, which is an older version and has the contents of an old ipod from years ago. I am afraid if I hook up my iphone to this PC, I will lose everything on my phone and only have the contents of the old ipod shuffle. What do I need to do to back up my iphone to the home PC and start using it as my main source? Can I keep everything on my phone and create a backup to the PC or am I just out of luck??

  • Is there any way of backing up Apple calendar in OSX Yosemite?

I want an automated process/script that could run at a certain time of day and could back up my calendar automatically. I found a script that used to do so for iCal in earlier versions of OSX however since now iCal has been updated to Calendar the script is no longer valid.
Can somebody help me with automating the process of automating the process of backing up Apple calendar in OSX Yosemite?

DO NOT even TRY to use your drive.
    Get a new replacement kit.
    http://www.macsales.com
Boot off an external drive.  Use that.
Get the demo of Data Rescue 4, if it can find files, great buy it for $99.
You will need a drive to recover files to so pick up one unless you have a spare drive sitting around with enough storage.
After you have as much backed up or recovered as possible you can try other things to repair or do a secure erase to see if it is usable as a spare backup drive.
I would look at an SSD upgrade to replace the failing drive, and if you need RAM now would be the time.

Do you have a computer with iTunes on it that you have associated the iPad with?
If the answer is yes, simply set iTunes up to back up the device locally, fully sync the apps, photos, movies, etc. A copy of everything, including the config of the device and all your settings (scores) will be made on the computer's drive. This even includes a backup copy of all the apps. When you get the replacement device (probably a refurbished blank unit), a Restore from that backup will totally reconstruct what you have today.
If the answer is no, you will have quite a bit more work to do in order to get back to the original state that the iGadget is currently in (minus the crack).
