Is there any way to disable update check for a specific add-on?

There are a few add-ons I have problems with their latest versions. So i don't want to update them. But everytime there are any updates for other add-ons they also appear and need to be unchecked. Is there any way to disable update just for them permanently?

Auto correct on my desktop Mac is making me look like an idiot. After I type it's changing words into other words I never typed and it even pushes words together that I'd typed a space in between in order to create new words that I never typed which make absolutley no sense.
Now after I type a document I have to go back and psychically spell check my entire document the old fashioned way to make sure auto-correct isn't making me look like a clown who can't spell.
Is there any way to disable "auto correct" on the desktop MAC and still keep spell check running?
The amount of messages I've sent out with horribly misspselled words or errrors as a result is maddening.

Running OSX 10.9.1

I had turned off auto-correct in the keyboard preferences, but in Mail all my spelling and grammer choices were grayed out. The key for me — as Kingoftypos points out — was "For Mail, open a new message/reply/forward. Then go to the Edit menu and scroll down to the Spelling/Grammar."
It would never have occurred to me to open a new message to be able to change the settings.

This might go into too much detail but I suspect since you're referring to a basic system function you're going to have to address this at a pretty basic level in the system operations which isn't always easy without major hacks.

I had created 60 users granting them connect and resource privileges in oracle(8.1.5.0.0).All of the users are working under their logins(users)...Every thing is going fine...But now i wanted to disable the objects owned by those users
(60 Users) for a period of 2 days,After that i wanted to enable them....Is there any way to disable the objects owned by them with out dropping the users?(The users should be able to work as prevoiusly on the new objects they will create after i disabled the objetcts owned by them previously)?

The thing is: I love AIR, hate spark, loved the 2006 pre-spark functionality. It is so much more convenient and user friendly. Given the choice between having the display seperate from the processing, or having it be convenient and easy to work with, I choose the later option.
For the most part it seems like the AIR api is like a layer on top of the spark - flex system.. I would like to be able to over lay the same AIR functionality on top of the the old system....

No, you can't update your 2G iPast past iOS 4.2.1. The graphics hardware on the 2G does not support the latest Open GLS.
Yes, there are not that many apps that still works with a 2G with 4.2.1.

It's very frustrating when I hit the delete key and iCloud automatically erases the selected email message. I receive some HTML formatted emails that include a text box that I can utilize to directly reply to something. If I don't make any mistakes at all, I can utilize this box and post a reply. But if I mess up and need to delete text, instead of deleting text iCloud deletes the email message. Is there any way to disable this?

I don't believe it's possible to disable the delete key, but could be wrong. However, if you delete an email in error, you can restore it by pressing cmd + Z to undo the deletion.

charging by usb isn't a problem , modern batteries do not suffer 'memory effect' just do what you want to do and don't worry about it . My N97 is connected to laptop most nights for anything from 10 minutes to an hour , no battery problem in 18 months and left on charge overnight every night . Since I never scroll by dragging the scroll bars with the cursor, I find the expansion of the scroll bars to be a distracting and even productivity limiting feature. Is there any way to disable the expansion of the scroll bars (perhaps with a terminal command)? System Preferences doesn't have an option to switch this feature off as far as I'm concerned.
