Is there any way to incorperate video from the internet into your project?

I am trying to make a movie for a research project for school on Lions. I've never been to Africa to get the footage I need to make this movie but the Internet has great footage that I would like to incorporate in my film. Is it possible to take some footage from the internet and put it in my movie?

The thing is: I love AIR, hate spark, loved the 2006 pre-spark functionality. It is so much more convenient and user friendly. Given the choice between having the display seperate from the processing, or having it be convenient and easy to work with, I choose the later option.
For the most part it seems like the AIR api is like a layer on top of the spark - flex system.. I would like to be able to over lay the same AIR functionality on top of the the old system....
Possible or no?

There is no trash can. When you delete, they are gone.
You may be able to restore from backup.

I built a website with iWeb on my older mac and launched it on the internet. The hardrive crashed which was where the files were saved for the website. Is there any way to recover it through the internet onto my newer computer?

iWeb stores its sites and pages in a proprietary package format on the HDD in the user library, and when FTP'ing it to the server, it's a set of PHP and other file types. So, there is no way you can re-build from what's on the server.
But you may double-check, the file in question on the HDD is ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2 (where ~ is your user home folder). Maybe it's somewhere among your recovered files? Restoring it into the same location and copying iWeb into the Applications folder will get you going again.

Is there any way to recover files from the guest account on a Mac, after the machine has been logged out?

I had uploaded some photos onto iPhoto on the guest account for my visitors, intending to burn them on departure.
I updated my Mac with a system software update, which required reboot so I of course types in the admin username/password to do so.
I received no warning message "caution: all temporary files in guest account will be deleted if you logout" as if you logout directly from the guest account, so I had forgotten about the guest account wipe.
Just today I switched to the guest user, and was dismayed to find the files gone.
Surely there must be some way to recover these files? Can anyone help?!

They possibly still exist on the hard drive if you haven't overwritten that space already.
Your only hope is to try a file recovery program like Data Rescue 3 or some sort like that.

Is there any way to use video with the new Flash CC HTML5 Canvas?

I am a long time Flash user trying to determine if this new version of the program is something to add to the workflow again (after the last several years of not being able to use it) and the tutorials I have seen are not well written. Is there a way to use a video file within the animation, like with the AS2 and AS3 versions of Flash where I could insert a video clip into a symbol and animate the symbol while the video played.
What I need to know is what format of video file I should use and how to add it into the timeline since Flash does not seem to be allowing for any type of import for this.
Any Thoughts?

Ok, so there are limitations, are they written down somewhere? I have been looking for a list of do and do not functions and the ways to work around them. Are they in the documentation somewhere I haven't discovered?
Right now all I am looking to do is create Classic Tweens that animate movement and opacity so I can create a presentation with video that includes these elements. Is that level of functionality available in the HTML5 Canvas, or is that still on the drawing board?
Is there a specific name for what I am looking to do that would aid my search? HTML5 video is not enough since the answer has not been forthcoming in Google or on Adobe or Stack Overflow. I am starting to think that nobody has thought of this yet, or if they have they decided that it is not currently possible and skipped the part where the rest of us find out.
Any thoughts on making the connection to either doing this or finding out that it is just not possible yet would be very helpful.

Is there any way to remove "sudo" from the server?

sudo can do a lot of things which root can do. I tried the following to remove, but got failed message. Is there any graceful way?
Or, maybe I don't have to remove it, by default, nobody can use sudo to run root only commands, unless I give them priviledge to do so by using "visudo", right?

The idea of the sudo command is to give a user root access without the need to tell them the root password. When the user is not already root the sudo command will ask the user for the current user account password. This is to prevent that someone uses the sudo command in case your session gets hijacked. There is usually a default timeout. As long as you enter another sudo command within 5 minutes of the last sudo command, you won't have to enter your password.
The visudo command is typcially used to edit the /etc/sudoers file, which defines which users or groups are allowed to use the sudo command and to which commands or group of commands it applies. For instance if you make an entry in the /etc/sudoers file to allow a certain user to use all commands, then the user can enter "sudo su -" to become root without having to know the root password.

My iPhone is in recovery mode. Is there nay chance to get photos from it?

Is there any way of ordering prints from the ipad iPhoto app

I hope there is as it would be a huge omission on apples part especially as we're supposed to be "post PC".

Edited images from the iPhoto app can be saved to the Camera Roll. Images from Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Synced with iTunes or just imported from a camera card can be ordered via this newly released free app:

Is there any way to get videos from my Sony Handycam to my MacBook?

I just found out today about how the Handycam (which uses MiniDV) uses a firewire cable, while the MacBook doesn't have a firewire port. Obviously this is a problem. I am exceedingly new to Apple. I need a simple answer as to whether there is ANYTHING I can do, even if roundabout, to get the material I have on Mini-DV tapes onto the MacBook.
Also, if this is going to be a real problem, is there a different type of camcorder I should look at buying instead of my (practically brand new...) Handycam?

Maybe, A USB camcorder.
USB camcorders use formats that use high compression to store the video files thereby lowering quality. This may be good enough to give you "decent footage" if so, then you won't have a problem using a USB camcorder. However I have never been happy with the quality that a USB camcorder provides (they always look grainy to me).
A Firewire miniDV tape cam will give you lossless quality video and is best for any editing purposes (iMovie, Final Cut etc.). So without Firewire make sure you get a chance to try out any USB camcorder before you buy.

Is there a way to record video from the iSight camera

Running Mavericks on an early 2008 iMac. iMovie 08 says 'NO CAMERA CONNECTED." Recording from QuickTime Player no longer has a perference panel, and the videos recoded are jerky and sound is bad. I can't find any soluion on youTube - they all say just pick th iSight camera in iMove - which I can't. I thought maybe iMove10 bu the app store said my cideo board does no support it. Seems like there should be but I cannot find it. I don't want to have to buy Camtasia which is the only one that seems to work with the iSight input.

HT3529 Is there any way to sync iMessages from an iPhone into the Messages on a Mac Book Pro?

Basically, for me to upgrade to an iPhone 5s, I'll have to trade in my iPhone 4s. The thing is, I'm pretty sentimental when it comes to certain text messages and I would really like to be able to save them all somewhere, somehow. Everything else is backed up to my laptop, so I'm not concerned about anything else on the phone; it's just not wanting to part with the text messages... It would be nice if there is a way to sync the rest of one's messages into the Messages app on the MacBook Pro. Is that possible?

If the photos were on the iphone when the last sync was performed, then you should be able to restore from backup.

HT1414 Is there any way i could restore from the backup of a new IOS software? I had to manually restore my iphone 3 and had to downgrade the IOS Software.

I backuped my iphone 3 when it had a higher IOS software. After i restored my Iphone, i eneded up having to downgrade the IOS software in order for it to fully restore. Now when i try to back up my phone, it says that my iphone is too old for the backup. If i DO upgrade the IOS, i won't be able to use my phone because it becomes too slow and wont even fully restore.

If your phone is in recovery mode (You see the iTunes graphic on the phone), you MUST connect the device to a computer and restore the operating system. There is no supported way to get around it. The device had a problem installing the update and it crashed. Sorry.
