Is there any way to join paths after expanding appearances?

I'm drawing very simple forms to send to a laser cutter and I need them to be symmetrical. I'm using the "transform" tool to mirror my drawing, then expanding the appearance at the end. But once I have 2 full paths, I can't get illustrator to join them. I've grouped them, ungrouped them, made a copy of the drawing, tried everything I can think of. I swear it actually used to do this so maybe my software is corrupted (I'm using CS4- yes, the dark ages!) so if I need to just move forward that's cool- but if there's an easy way to get this to work I might just stick with the old stuff since this is really all I use it for, and very infrequently. Thanks for the response! It's possible I'm misunderstanding the expand feature, but it seems that until I expand appearances and turn the "mirrored" path into a "real" path, there is no second half to join to, so I couldn't do it beforehand. I tried the suggestions that you and Monika made about trying the Unite/merge etc. in the pathfinder panel, but they didn't work. What's confusing me is that if I simply draw two scribbles with the pencil tool, it's two clicks to join the ends of those paths to make an enclosed form. I can't understand what it is about the lines made by expanding appearances that marks them as somehow different from plain old lines. They look the same, behave the same in all other ways but the software balks when I try to join the endpoints. I even tried clipping a little bit of the ends of the two paths I want to join, just to see if it would "reset" something about the lines, but that didn't work either. I'm attaching an image of one of the forms- neither the top points or the bottom ones are joined. Hope that clarifies what I'm trying to do- I drew the left half with the "copy" reflecting using the transform feature, then when i liked the way the whole thing looked I hit "expand appearances" to end up with two usable halves. I'm not at all attached to that method of getting the two halves; in fact it does work to turn the "transform" effect back off and simply use the reflect tool, but that's more cumbersome and it seems silly that just joining the endpoints can't work. Any other thoughts would be so appreciated!

is there any way to change the user privilege after i have started the managed
server with one user.....say for example ....i have started one of my Managed
server as "root" ...but after that i wanted to make this instance work under as
"inet"
how do i do this OR is it possible ????

OSX 10.9 Mavericks is there any way to hide servers which always appear in finder after login (hide login items doesn't work as stardered)

Is there any way to recover photos after an incomplete import?

I "deleted originals" before realizing the import was incomplete and now I would like to recover the other half of my intended picture group. Any suggestions? Thanks

1 - it is a good idea to never have iPhoto (or any otehr computer program) delete yoru photos - import them and keep the photos until at least one backup cycle is complete - then use the camera's format command to reformat the memory card and erase the photos

It would be great if there was some way the Comments list when participating in a PDF Review could be moved to the right side of the PDF or in a movable window of its own. With a dual monitor setup this arrangement would allow better use of the screen real estate. This might also be useful for those who want all of the comments to be able to be printed from one file without the annoying break between each page.

Yes it is possible, just click & hold on the comments icon (two yellow speech bubbles) and drag in off the bar.

Is there a way to join songs in a playlist?

I want to include in a random playlist three consecutive songs on an album, so that they always play in sequence within the random playlist.
The playlist is a long one, (some 900 songs), containing all my favourite songs, and I set it (in iTunes, before I sync it onto my iPod) to play randomly. This effectively gives me my own 'radio station' on my iPod, and it works fine for single songs.
But I would like to have a sequence of three songs from one album play all together, one after the other. (The album is Moody Blues 'In Search of The Lost Chord', and the three song sequence is 'House of Four Doors 1', Legend Of A Mind' and House of Four Doors 2', which form a kind of medley on the album.)
Is there any way to join just these three songs up, so that they play together in sequence on my random playlist please?

Is there any way to set the inspector in Pages to default with your personal settings?

Every time I want to use Pages I have to use the inspector to indicate if I want a header and footer or not. That is getting annoying. I would like to be able to set margins and if I want the header and footer or not and then make these the default settings. Is there any way to do this?

It appears to me after tinkering around that I can set a page like I want it and then save it as a template. I did so to a folder in Finder. Now the only way I can automatically bring up "default" settings on a Pages blank document is to go directly to that file in Finder and open it from there, not from Pages itself. Is there any other way to do this?

We are in a phase of migrating Interfaces from PI 7.1 to PO 7.31(Java Only).
For one of the Interface in PI 7.1 there is a RFC Destination for vendor communication through HTTPS connectivity :

During migration requirment is to keep the Path field BLANK of the Communication Channel,however since PO has mandatory path field a "/" is been provided, because of which data post fails.

As per my understanding The data is supposted to be posted directly to the IP (https://IP:9443) however it is getting posted to (https://IP:9443/) where the service is not available. For Reference attached relevant screenshots.

For Service auto- PO from PR, you need to activate Automatic Purchase order creation for Service requisitions in ML91 t.code.
Note:
For material :automatic PO creation from PR, follow the steps.
1) Material Master purchasing view tick automatic PO check box
2) Vendor Master purchasing view tick automatic PO check box.
3) Maintain Source list for Vendor & Material.(ME01)
4) Maintain Purchase Info Record.(ME11)
5) Create a Purchase Requisition.(ME51)
6) Use T.Code: ME59 & execute for PR for vendor, you will be able to create automatic PO.
During creation of PR , select check box of Source Determination in the 1st screen of ME51
Ensure that Purchase Info Record should be there.
If you have more than one vendor then fixes only one vendor in source list.

Is there any way to force time machine to keep retrying after disk i/o error?

a little background to my problem:
i've had a hard drive problem previously, and i managed get all the data off of my mac by trying and retrying to access the same files and also from my working time machine backup. after zeroing out and reformatting my drive and doing a clean install of Mavericks i had everything back up running no problems.
recently, my macbook pro would be stuck and slow in recently imported iphoto pics so i figured my hard drive is really failing this time around
i try to get a time machine backup to save what i can, but after a couple of tries time machine would just stop backing up and in console i would see a disk i/o error.
is there any way to force time machine to keep trying to backup through the disk i/o error so i can save what i can before getting a new drive?
edit: a little more info, i know i have a harddrive error from looking at the console, but when i do a verify disk in disk utility it comes up clean and even after doing a disk repair it comes up clean i still see disk i/o errors in the console.

If she has backed up her iPhone she can replace that iPhone and set up the new iPhone from her backup.
You can put the iPhone that went into water into a plastic baggie with either new silica gel packets (preferred) or raw rice and let it sit for 4 - 5 days. After that time remove the phone and connect it to power for at least a half hour. While it is still connected to power reset it by holding down the power and hold button, wait for the Apple logo then let go of the buttons. Might take several tries. If it revives immediately back it up.
