Is there any way to locate an iPod touch when find my iPhone has been downloaded to it but not switched on this same iPod touch?
I recently purchased my daughter an iPod touch, downloaded find my iPhone on the fourth day and she lost it on day 5 before I could turn on the app. I did not know if there is a way to activate the app remotely or another solution. Any suggestions?

This sounds like the age old problem with keychain & Safari. I don't know of a way to solve it without using something like 1Password.
The iOS app has it's own built in browser, so it has more control over what gets autofilled. Safari on OS X has an 1Password extension that handles account selection & autofill etc.
Keychain is great in principle, but it quickly falls down when you need tight integration with many ID's & different use cases (work, home etc).
I'd suggest you submit feedback to Apple about your thoughts. I did so years ago about this issue & this is how far we have come (back to the point where me.com synced passwords) :^)

Other tools like lastpass or keypassx may also help if you want to truly segregate password storage, but that doesn't fix autofill, the way around that issue is to dedicate one browser for work. -

for the find my iphone(ipod/ipad) app the device would have to be connected to a wifi network for you to be able to find it but since you didn't there is no way to find now if it was stolen i highly recommend going to the police and give them information on the ipod touch ( serial number, make, model, gig size)

My Ipad (and backpack, laptop, & other stuff) was stolen at the Portland Oregon Airport at 1:30 PM on 2/27/12.
unfortunately I had not turned on the Find My Ipad function. I do have the serial number and the IMEI number (although I never enabled the 3g function).

Apple are not in the business of tracing your stolen iPad, any more than the manufacturer of your car will trace that if stolen.
Tell your service provider (now, before the thief spends a few thousand on international calls....), the police and your insurer. -

I lost my iPad mini while traveling recently. I tried using the Find My iPhone App (which showed my iMac, my iPhones, my old iPad, and my macbook) but the mini didn't show up...probably because it was turned off or the battery ran down.

Have you reported it to the police in case somebody hands it in ? You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc., and if it was a cellular model also contact your carrier. -

No, you can't update your 2G iPast past iOS 4.2.1. The graphics hardware on the 2G does not support the latest Open GLS.
Yes, there are not that many apps that still works with a 2G with 4.2.1. -

Is there any way to locate my stolen iPad? I have acquired my iPad just a few days ago and I believe stolen within two days. It's an iPad 3 but not associated with Verizon.
If you set up the Find My iPad service in the Settings prior to the iPad going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPad is turned on, connected to a WiFi or 3G network, and has not had the Find My iPad service disabled or the iPad been completely restored).
If you did not set up Find My iPad, then there is no way to track it. Contact the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPad (the iTunes Store, for instance).

Go to icloud.com. Log in with your Apple ID & Password. Go to the Find My iPhone section. Perform a remote wipe of the device.
You don't have to have downloaded any app. You only have to have enabled the Find My iPhone option under Settings > iCloud. If you did not do that, then you cannot remotely access the device.
If that's the case, then change ALL of your account passwords; email, banking, etc. All of them. And then monitor those accounts very closely! -
The computer that had my iTunes account on has broken, and was thrown away.
All the media I bought on it are on my iPhone only - is there any way to re-open my iTunes on the new computer or to download them off my iPhone?

AlastairBuy yourself a backup drive. Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer. The exception is purchased content.
