Is there any way to recover a file if Time Machine is not set up?

I accidentally overwrote a file in word (i saved it as the same name and i agreed to overwrite it). I do not have Time Machine set up. Is there any way to recover the original file?

There's a slim chance. +*Stop using the drive IMMEDIATELY.+*

  • Is there any way to recover a file that has somehow become not a valid Photoshop Touch project?

I have been working on a piece of art for the last month and all of a sudden when I went to open it this evening the app was unable to open the file. Please Help!

Not good as that usually means the project itself was corrupt.
Any chance you sync'd to Creative Cloud? That's the only way I know of that backs up your PS Touch (PSDX) files.

  • I was trying to back up my mac by using my external hard drive.  Without realizing it, time machine erased all my backups from my other computers.  Is there any way to recover these files?  I can't even get the external hard  drive to work on my pc.

I was trying to use my external hard drive to back up my mac computer.  It had files on it from my pc computer.  Time machine erased all my existing files. (I thought it was only going to erase the duplicate files and rewrite them).  Is there anyway to recover these files from my external hard drive.  My mac has renamed the hard drive time maching and it will no longer show up on my pc.  What can I do?

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

  • I have mistakenly deleted some photos. Is there a way of recovering them? No time machine is being used.

I Hvae mistakenly deleted some photos. I am not using time machine and I have been advised there is some data recovery software that may bring the photos back. Can any one help please.

Hi, John. Here is a direct link to the web site of Data Rescue 3's developer. You can download the demo version from there and use it to see exactly what the full version would be able to recover.
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
Do NOT go to a recovery service before trying this. A service will cost a minimum of ten times as much as the full version of Data Rescue, and if there is plenty of free space on your hard drive, the likelihood that the small downlod of Data Rescue will overwrite data you hope to recover is pretty small.
CSound's point is well taken about not using the computer before downloading and running Data Rescue. You are much more likely to overwrite files you want to recover if you use the computer before making the attempt.
Note that you must have a second hard drive on which to save whatever you recover. You can't save recovered files on the same disk they're being recovered from.

  • Is there any way to recover data previously stored on iPhone but not backed up on iCloud?

I just accidentally restored data through iCloud from my old iPhone to new iPhone and lost all data previously stored on the new phone. Is it possible to recover the lost data at all?

Have you backed up the new phone's data anywhere? iCloud or iTunes? If not, then you are stuck with the restore you put on it....

  • Is there any way to recover a .tif I was just working with?

    The Facts
    System:  PC
    Program:  Photoshop CS5
    Version:  12.0.4
    The Situation
I am working with a .tif file (1000 cm x 1000 cm at 72 dpi).  I have been copying and pasting images from other .tif files into it in order to see all images at once, so I can then move them around and try to fit certain images together.  I have been saving it as a .tif with no compression over the last few days.  The file is now 2.61 GB with 119 images.
    The Problem
Before going to lunch, I saved it as I always do and left.  When I returned, Photoshop told me it could not open because it did not recognize the file type.
    My Questions
    1.  Is there any way to recover my file?
    2.  It is imperative that the files I am adding to this .tif remain their actual size.  That said, what is the best image compression option that I should use?
    The File
Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

I do not know if your file can be recovered.  But I may be able help you to recreate it with ease.  If you will settle for a composite where all image are re-sized for a particular tile size and virtually cropped to its aspect ratio.  However all source image need be gathered into a folder to use my script process. • Is there any way to recover bookmarks?

My daughter deleted my son's bookmark file by mistake. He does not remember the names of all the bookmarks he had. Is there any way to recover the file? Thanks!

It's probably too late to mention this, but the bookmarks could likely be retrieved if you had a recent backup of your Mac's files. (Of course, any sites bookmarked after that backup wouldn't be in the backup.) You would just need to retrieve the bookmarks.html file from the backup.
If you don't regularly or often backup, and this and other things like this are common enough to warrant it, it might be worth considering at least a very simple daily or weekly backup of user files, maybe just some important Application Support folders and the Documents folder, for example. (I do a daily incremental backup of a subset of work files to CDs, using the Backup program Apple includes with .Mac, because someone I work with is apt to mess up some of the online files we both work on. ;-))

  • Are there any way to recover the deleted images form iPhone 4

    hello guy's
are there any way to recover the deleted images form iPhone 4
note : i haven't make any copy of the photo in my pc so i relay need for them
    plz help

The Camera Roll is for temporary storage as with any other digital camera. Although photos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, photos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer ASAP. If you didn't sync your iPhone with iTunes since these photos were captured by your iPhone and the photos in the Camera Roll weren't imported by your computer, the photos are gone.
Depending on how wealthy you are, you can contact a data recovery service to see if they can recover deleted photos from an iPhone's flash drive, but you will pay an arm and a leg for this. Such a data recovery service is not cheap and with no guarantee the data will be recoverable.

What happened that you lost them?
If you have synced recently you could restore the iPhone and it will restore the camera roll to it's state at the time of that sync.

  • Where are temp files for Photoshop CS4? Is there any way to recover from themM?

Hi. My Mac crashed with all my work. I forgot to do Cmd S and now I lost 2 days worth of work in Photoshop CS4. Any chance the work is still in temp files? If yes, is there any way to recover files from them? Best, Caldvin

If you had any smart objects involved, you might be able to get to them. But no, not your main file.
How did you manage to work for two days without a save!?!
We all have to suffer these every now and again, teaches you to hit “save” every thirty seconds. You’ll be obsessive about it for eight months, then forget, loose hours of work and repeat. Perfectly natural.
On the plus side doing something the second time is usually quicker…

  • I built a website with iWeb on my older mac and launched it on the internet. The hardrive crashed which was where the files were saved for the website. Is there any way to recover it through the internet onto my newer computer?

Is there any way to recover this website? I need to edit it but the original files were wiped clean even after recovering what was left on the hard drive.

iWeb stores its sites and pages in a proprietary package format on the HDD in the user library, and when FTP'ing it to the server, it's a set of PHP and other file types. So, there is no way you can re-build from what's on the server.
But you may double-check, the file in question on the HDD is ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2 (where ~ is your user home folder). Maybe it's somewhere among your recovered files? Restoring it into the same location and copying iWeb into the Applications folder will get you going again.
Other than that, here is a discussion forum dedicated to iWeb.

    Kevin-
You say you uploaded the pictures to the iPad?  Then they should still be there, and you can copy them to your computer through iTunes.
There are utility programs for a computer that can recover deleted files from hard drives, and they may work for camera memory cards as well.  I've used DiskWarrior for Macintosh to recover pictures from an SD card before.
