Is there any way to restore my first generation iPod touch?

I recently reset my first generation iPod touch. I completely wiped it. My friend told me that I couldn’t restore it since iTunes is on version ten and the first gen iPod touches don’t support anything past update 1.3. Does anyone know of where I can go to download really early versions of iTunes?
If yes, thank you so much! If not, thank you anyways!

Ah, it worked! Turns out my usb port on my laptop doesn't work.. Thank you so much!! <3

I was told it has reached its life expectancy, but I am seeing videos on youtube of pc users with a program that works outside itunes.

To more easily find compatible apps see:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.

  • Is there any way to redownload iOS 5 my iPod touch 4 th generation white 32 gig is not working right?

My iPod is not working right. It's slow and lags and just doesn't work and always exits apps. I was if there was any way to redownload ios5 because it does the same things after I've reset about 4 times. Please help! It's even lagging why I am typing this. The thing that I checked below are all of the things that are not working on my iPod.

You cannot reinstall iOS without doing a restore. But you might first try a software update. If you have iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1, you can update to iOS 5.1 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • Is there any way to transfer EVERYTHING from an ipod touch 1st generation to a new ipod touch?

i have an ipod touch first generation and recently purchased a new ipod touch. is there a way to get all the photos and text from the old one to the new one?

Easy.  Make sure all music and apps are in your iTunes library and just restore you new iPod from the backup of your old iPod.  Make sure you make a backup of the old one right before.  You should be offered that option when you first connect your new iPod to your syncing computer.  I was.

  • Is there any way to text short codes on iPod touch five?

I have an iPod touch five. In order to text my local radio station I need to take shortcuts I cannot do this with iMessage so I downloaded the Pinger app this will not work either I know you can do it on an iPhone but I was wondering if there's anyway you can do it on an iPod? This would be really great thank you

I would contact the radio station. It may requires going through a wireless carrier which the iPod can't do.

  • Is there any way I can get a new ipod touch after it has been stolen and police report filed?

Someone stole my ipod touch from my purse at church. Can u believe that? I called apple and all they say is that i can file a police report. Thats all they can do. I can't get a new one??? i filed the police report. what do i do now??? just wait??. well i found out where they live. I located the ipod on a map and the exact house and name. should I just go over there and take it from them?? lol

Pay serious attention ot Illaass's advice about the police. Don't try recoverying it yourself, or forcing a confrontation with the alleged thief.
Good for you that you installed and activated Find My iPhone! Now get yourself to your local police station right now with the information from Find My iPhone printed out if you can. The sooner you do this, the more likely that they can recover your property.

  • Is there any way to transfer music from an iPod Touch to my Mac?

I bought an iPod Touch about three years ago now - used to have all my music on it for the bus rides to college etc.
A year and a half later, I bought an iPhone, so I forgot all about the iPod Touch.
I've recently rediscovered it and it has old songs I want to transfer onto my MacBook. Only problem is I don't want to download some unofficial app that's not supported by Apple because I'm concerned about security etc, and I don't want to have to use some program to download the songs again for free.. I'm not paying again for something I've bought before, and the majority of it isn't on iTunes.
I just want to transfer what I have onto a new computer.
Also, I can't use the 'Download purchases' option in iTunes - I've used it before, and it hasn't downloaded half of the music I've actually purchased.. is pretty useless.

    Yeah, that's not the problem.
I bought music on my last laptop, which was authorised with this iTunes account.
Bought a MacBook, authorised the account on this computer, and it's not downloading music I previously purchased on the old laptop.

  • Is there a way to locate my 2nd generation iPod touch?

It is possible that it was stolen, but also could be lost nearby. The battery would be dead by now if lost. There was no special find my phone or that type of software on it. It has so much personal information and original songs, memos etc that I am really upset at the thought of not getting it back. I am always so careful with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
    - iOS: How to find the serial number, IMEI, MEID, CDN, and ICCID number

  • Any way to restore iTunes library from iPod?

I lost a hard drive on my labtop and had to re-install the iPod and iTunes programs after getting a new disk. Now the iTunes library is empty and would not recognize the old iPod and want to erase all its contents. Is there any way to restore the library from iPod to my laptop (a Compaq running Windows XP)? The Apple site says I can reverse sync up to five computers with the songs purchases from iStore, but I can't figure out where are the buttons either on the iTunes or the iPod. For the experts out there please help!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. The transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described for instance also it won't transfer playlists. However if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Any way to keep apps on my ipod touch but not keep copies of them on my PC?

Is there any way to keep apps on my ipod touch but not keep copies of them on my PC? I have space issues on my PC, so I don't want to have to keep copies there. I deleted the apps from my PC, but when I synced my ipod to add some photos, all my apps were deleted from my ipod. Is there any way to be able to just sync photos and music, and not apps? Seems I am able to manually manage music, which allows me to not have to keep my music library stored on my PC, but can't get the photos to sync without the apps syncing too.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I'm new at this.
    Thanks.

though purchased apps can be re-downloaded for free, i strongly advise against such a practice !

you would be better off to move your iTunes library to an external drive, thus freeing up space on your startup disk. this read will tell you how http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364.

  • Any way to get java for my iPod Touch?

I can't access the network at my college because the sign-in page needs java. This is really frustrating. I read about something being done about this in February of 2008! What happened?
Is there any way to get java on my ipod touch?

No, the iPod touch does not support Java and there is no way of adding it.
JavaScript and Java are totally different and JavaScript is enabled by default in Safari on the iPod touch.
Your best bet would be to ask your college to consider a different sign-in page, as technically, there's no reason to use Java, and by doing so they are denying access to many handheld devices and mobile phones which people are increasingly using to access networks on the go.
